Slic3r overview
What is Slic3r?
Slic3r is an on-premise and open-source 3D printing tool, which helps designers convert 3D models into G-code, manage configurations, print colored objects, and more whilst supporting multiple layers with different parameters. The built-in plating interface enables users to rotate, scale, or arrange objects using drag-and-drop functionality.
Key features of Slic3r include bridge detection, command line slicing, honeycomb infill, mesh cutting, and micro layering. The sequential printing functionality allows designers to print one complete object at a time. It helps users generate a removable base flange around objects to improve plate adhesion. The platform also supports multiple file input or output formats including STL, AMF, SVG, G-code, and OBJ.
Slic3r supports several printers such as RepRap, Rostock, Bukobot, DLP, Ultimaker, and more. Designers can automatically repair non-manifold meshes and save configurations with machine or filament presets for each category. Other features include multiple extruders, brim, and variable layer heights.
