Pros

It's a user friendly service with great customer care, wonderful service if u have a small business.
Fields to fill and perfectly links the data from one end like ap and AR to the bank reconciliation. Great reports on transactions for the month or period if interest.
We love that it helps us streamline efforts, is easy to use, and is easy to train others on. QuickBooks Online has definitely been one of the best technology pieces of our administration.

Pros

User friendly design that is easy to learn and navigate, great for invoicing people as well as paying invoices, good organization of invoices and payments.
Quickbooks is the bread and butter of my business, it is the best accounting program I have used. I love that it continues to improve and allow more integration with apps and documentation programs.
The help on the team when getting this product was great, the features are honestly really great, I use it for payroll as well and it is really worth the cost.

Cons

This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable from the company that is supposed to have your books.
The problem is that doing your own taxes online becomes risky the more you have to account for.
Other than tracking my expenditures, the whole system is a pain. Error messages constantly received because "there's a message from your bank" bla bla bla.

Cons

Submitting hours for the wrong week unintentionally can be frustrating because there is no way to reverse it without supervisor permissions.
The customer service is terrible. I usually get forwarded from person to person because I'm in the "wrong department," but I know it's because the person just doesn't know the answer.
No recourse through customer service. Data is held hostage as leverage for stopping cancellation of unauthorized charges, ie: sure you can cancel but we're not sure what will happen to your data.

I have been using QBO for the last 3 years since I migrated from QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. It's just as good.

Pros

Online databases are the future and QBO is the best one for bookkeeping. You can work from literally anywhere as long as you have wifi.

Cons

As any online data base the interface sometimes glitches a bit and speed may vary. Best browser is Google Chrome.

QuickBooks Online has made incredible strides in the past several versions--2 of the most important advantages of choosing QBO over other cloud-based accounting options is the growing availability of apps available for QuickBooks Online and how easy it is to send to your accountant--the accountant tools (that your consultant or ProAdvisor has access to are top of the line) . If you are a new start-up, small business, or desktop user of QuickBooks Pro or Premier, QBO is likely the best option that you have for accounting needs Don't forget to demo and test the apps.

1. Easy to use and set up. 2. Cloud-based - faster than QuickBooks Desktop. 3. Easy to migrate data from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online

Cons

Does not offer as much functionality as QuickBooks Desktop. Examples include not being able to run AR/AP aging report by invoice date (instead of due date) and not being able to run project profitability reports by filtering certain accounts (such as only revenue and cost of sales).

Overall, the system is very efficient and user friendly. Would recommended to anyone into using disruptive technology.

Pros

The interface is easy to use and requires no specialised training. The UI doesnt require the user to have extensive accounting/IT knowledge as QuickBooks Online system is logically laid out. The integration with other external application is not very complex unlike other systems. The main benefit of QuickBooks Online is that since this is an online version all our data can be accessed from anyway in he world without any issue. QuickBooks Online has a couple of pricing tiers and thus allows the user to obtain the right scope of the application which suits their budget. Also certain modules are there with different pricing options to suit the users. also the access to a vast range of tutorials by QuickBooks is highly commendable.

Cons

Some advanced modules/processes might not be available with QuickBooks Online although they are available in QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise - like certified payroll/job costing etc. Mostly suitable for small businesses. There is a limit to the amount of customization that can be done for reports.

Pros

We went from QuickBooks Enterprise on a private server to QuickBooks Online. It was night and day for accessibility throughout the organization.

Cons

Some of the multi-company reporting features were lost between Enterprise and QBO

Led me to using Quickbooks desktop, which I am satisfied with.

Pros

I originally signed up for Quickbooks online since I like the cloud feature and being able to work from any computer. The price was a little high when calculated over several years of use compared to a desktop version, but was doable for the convenience.

Cons

I attempted to learn the software, but it is extremely confusing. I watch several videos and practiced, but the way the software is set up and where things are organized is not very intuitive. I even went to see a book keeper who works for my accountant and she said that she has been using Quickbooks desktop for 20 years and even she could not figure out how to use the online version. She recommended I get the desktop version and do daily backups instead, which I did.

Quickbooks online is simply leading the way and will surpass desktop.

Pros

Clean accounting with a ton of different reports you can export. The agency set up is convenient and helps with the new tax laws.

Cons

I don't like that when you push over the ship to address and QBO knows you don't have nexus in that state, that state taxes still apply on the invoice.

I can't recommend Quickbooks highly enough, whether online or desktop based.

Pros

Quickbooks online takes the good, standard functionality of tradition QuickBooks, and brings it all to a digital, "online" format. As accounting software, Quickbooks is the best. Simply put. Now, the ability to access it remotely makes it a much better option for those working on the go.

Cons

Quickbooks takes some getting used to. There's a pretty steep learning curve, for anyone not familiar with the software. Additionally, there are limited users on the online program (expected, but still a limitation).

Cons

It is completely different than Quickbooks Desktop. Definitely a learning curve for those used to desktop.

Pros

Ease of conversion from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, the help, and so little time to complete.

Cons

It is taking me time getting used to new categories, places to put things, and other new options that were not available with QuickBooks Desktop..

Quickbooks Online is great. I use it for personal use and after using Quickbooks on my desktop for many, many years, I much prefer Quickbooks Online.

Pros

Online access from anywhere. I no longer have to be at my desktop to access Quickbooks. It's all there online and I can access it on vacation or at home as long as I have access to the internet.

Cons

The only negative is that if the internet is down you have no access, but not a big deal.

Pros

The only pro for using QuickBooks Online is how inexpensive it is.

Cons

Invest in the QuickBooks Desktop software instead of subscribing to the QuickBooks Online. Features are very limited, the look, the feel and overall very difficult to use. You will be so much happier with the QuickBooks Desktop version.

Pros

You can access anytime anywhere, which is very helpful if you travel around a lot and want to consult your account.

Cons

It is not so easy to use like quickbooks desktop. Quickbooks desktop is more intuitive and if you didn't know how to use any, it is easier to learn.

Online vs Desktop

Overall, Quickbooks Online is very helpful when dealing with multiple clients who are not in your area and you don't have frequent contact with.

Pros

The best thing about Quickbooks Online is the ease of access. As a CPA, I have multiple clients who use Quickbooks Online and it is much easier for me to access their accounts through the online version. All of my clients are in one place and I don't have to worry about obtaining a backup or accountant's copy in order to change or add information.

Cons

Quickbooks Online is different from Quickbooks Desktop. The look, the feel, the reports, the entries, everything. This could be a challenge for someone who is used to using Quickbooks desktop and decides to switch to Quickbooks Online. You basically have to relearn the software almost from scratch.

A lite version of QuickBooks

The use of QuickBooks while telecommuting, without having to use a remote desktop.

Pros

I like that you can use this software out of the office when you are telecommuting. It prevents the need to have to create a remote desktop to get into QuickBooks out of the office.

Cons

The software is much slower than the offline version. Also, if the administrator changes something halfway through what you are doing, it may log you off and not save the information you were working on.

I love Sass models for software and Quickbooks connects to almost every app available for enterprise or small business.

Cons

Not very feature rich as far as its own features. And if you ever decide to move to another bookkeeping solution the transition is a nightmare.

It's a great option if you are moving around but Quickbooks for desktop is the best bet if you're using the same computer all the time in terms of ease of use.

Pros

The ability to access Quickbooks anywhere is really helpful, especially if you are working on multiple computers (at home/in an office) or if numerous individuals need access to the software. It also doesn't slow down the computer as much as Quickbooks for desktop.

Cons

It has more limited features than Quickbooks for desktop and isn't as easy to navigate. If you've been using Quickbooks for desktop, you'll find this to be a tougher transition.

I was an early QuickBooks Online user and often try again. However, I would still rather have my teeth drilled than use QuickBooks Online. It should have been great by now, but Intuit did not invest anything much in it for many years.

Cons

Slow limited subset of QuickBooks desktop. Very unreliable hosting, often down for days not long ago. Growth in # of users about 1/3 of the loss of QuickBooks desktop users, so QBO mainly grows by cannibalizing QB desktop users.

QBO has its own advantages and it runs on the latest technology and the user can access it from anywhere.

Pros

We have been migrating some of our users from QBD to QBO for some of the great features that are available with QBO 1. Support for QBO over cloud. Hence users can access the quickbooks through online, instead of downloading the traditional application which is Quick books desktop 2. Support for both Summary and Detail view with Quickbooks online 3. Can control the columns in the Bills such as Rate in QBO more effectively. Whereas in QBD it is auto calculated. 4. Has better access to Quickbooks online API from other systems to control the detail view 5. Can transport attachments to quickbooks online using Quickbooks API

Cons

Licensing cost is little bit more with Quickbooks online than Quickbooks desktop. Hence more users prefers to stay with QBD.

I prefer Quickbooks Desktop but have used Online for years now. I hope intuit can get it closer to Desktop and offer better support.

Pros

I like that clients can easily access their records online and import bank transactions. It’s nice to access files in real time.

Cons

Customer service is awful, Quickbooks payroll support is not good and the people that work there do not seem qualified to be advising people on how to use it or correct issues. It should be easier for accountants to correct client issues.

Great Accounting Software

We've been using quickbooks desktop in the company for the past years and it has been working fine for our office needs.

Pros

It's a very easy to use accounting software, it's very easy to understand and to navigate through the interface. It has all the common reports needed by the accounting software and it also gives you the option to create customized advanced reports. We have barely run into any kind of problem a verify and rebuild won't fix , but in these rare situations the quickbooks support team gave us solutions in a minimum amount of time. One thing I really like is that there are multiple third party applications that can be easily integrated with quickbooks that will enhanced the way it works. For example, we use a third party application integrated with quickbooks to control the website inventory, quickbooks sends the inventory data to the website through this third party app.

Cons

We've been considering on migrating to quickbooks online from quickbooks desktop but there are some options and functionalities that quickbooks online don't offer. It would be good for intuit to integrate full quickbooks desktop functionality into quickbooks online.
