It can be a great substitute to SAP especially for those companies like mine who are not that big to use SAP and it is also cheaper.
Xero is an innovative accounting software that caters to small and big companies alike. I like that it can be used by almost everyone within an organization and that it is very easy to use.
The record books and reconciliations sometimes do not match what I inputted in the fields. I also find that there are inconsistencies on my postings but the software tells that it is correct. I hope Xero finds a way to fix this.

With Xero, it has been remarkable to carry out accounting procedures without involving manual processes.
Xero gives me the ability to eradicate manual accounting tasks via automation of processes such as AP and AR.
I rarely encounter issues on Xero cloud app, but my iOS doesn’t produce all features available on cloud-based solution.

Clean, sleek and intuitive user interface. Lots of features without making the system complex. Fantastic integration with the bank.
Because it's cloud based there are certain disadvantages to non-cloud based accounting packages. Might not be suitable for ALL kinds of businesses.

Xero has a mobile application that enables me to carry out repetitive accounts tasks on the go. This tool has enabled us to eradicate fraud in my organization by managing and tracking expenses.
Xero mobile application though lack some capabilities available on cloud apps.

Easy to navigate; cloud based so easily accessible.
Simple, clean and uncomplicated with great functionality. Great reporting features. We have had excellent support from our Xero partner.
The payroll module is less user friendly. Have found it more difficult to navigate. But overall the pros definitely outweigh the cons

Easy to learn and use, can customize forms, can integrate 100's of third party apps to reduce keystrokes, setups in a flash, and can import previous software data relatively easy.
Customer support could have been a little more helpful, but since it is so new to U.S., there are not a lot of tech support people around yet.. But they will be soon, because this software rocks!

I have used Xero cloud accounting since they launched in the UK around 2012, it is in my opinion the best cloud accounting platform for small businesses.
The ease of connecting your business bank account and quickly getting your financial and business data in order.
The payroll module is functional and great for smaller businesses, however other more specialist payroll software providers are better suited to managing larger payrolls.

Once set up this platform just works. Easy, simple and always there. Integrates with a lot of other apps.
The bank feeds can be finicky at times (fulling knowing that this is not really. Xero, but rather Yodlee,s issue); however, this makes it sometimes a bit cumbersome.

I have been using Xero for a number of months after moving away from KashFlow. The product that Xero offers and pricing is great, sadly I wish there was more to say about their customer service. To contact customer support this can only be via email which raises a ticket, they assure you a response with 24 hours but this is regularly not met. If you phone through to their offices they say they have no inbound numbers they can transfer you to. Being stuck without access to the system because of an issue with a payment has left me sat around twiddling my thumbs. Not impressed. If your self sufficient then I recommend this product, if you need a helping hand no and again - I would not recommend Xero.

Xero has mobile applications which I have installed on my iOS device and allows me to carry out accounting tasks on the go over the internet.
However, some features are missing on the mobile application and are available on cloud apps.

So far, I am most pleased with this cloud-based software!
This software is very intuitive and easy to use. The support is outstanding, generally receiving responses within 2-4 hours.
It would be great to have more customizable options for invoice templates.

Overall, very pleased with the product and when linked with other 3rd party software like ApproalMax, it makes for a very efficient and robust process.
Very simple and intuitive product. I currently use Xero for education. Its biggest strength is how straightforward and easy it is to use and navigate through the various screen.
If Xero’s biggest plus point is its simplicity, its downside is also that it is very. Having previously used SAP in the manufacturing environment, Xero doesn’t quite give you the drill down capabilities and cross dimensional analysis. But in my current education setting this isn’t always required.

Cloud based, so I can work on my accounts where ever I am.
Bank feeds make it easy to reconcile bank statements. Cloud based so I can work anywhere, and my accountant can log in and do what they need to do.
Some of the user interface is garbage. I heard it has been designed by accountants. They should have enlisted some small business users to give feedback on how a small business would use it. I give feedback, but nothing changes... Can be frustrating to encounter the same difficulties, report them to support to get them fixed and then encounter the same problem 12 months on... There is a mobile app, but I find it next to useless.

We love it. It has been seamless since the get go.
I started using Xero as soon as it was launched back in the early 2000's. great product and a great team behind it. I have seen the changes over the years and love how they are constantly coming up with inprovements.
I don't really have any negative comments about xero. We suggest changes and this we would like to see, and generally they end up happening.

Xero possibly has the best customer service of all, this is where they are really winning. Xero has tons of free quality content and videos with tips and training for business owners and accountants alike. They organise regular meet ups where you can discuss issues and opportunities with your peers. Being apart of the Xero family makes me feel like i am in the "cool club" in high school, only we're cool nerds. If you are the less-bookish accountant and the more customer-oriented fun accountant then this is definitely your type of software.
Difficult to get older clients who are used to invoice books and cheque books to switch over to cloud accounting. (con not exclusive to Xero) If you are switching over from another cloud system, it can take a few hours to get used to the software/app's functions.

The time I save by using Xero is really priceless. It helps me keep on top of all my financial requirements .
As per a lot of cloud based software Xero can be very slow to load sometimes which can be very frustrating
