Pros

It appeared to have good work flow from clinical to office seamlessly. The billing features seem robust and user friendly as well.
What I like best about Brightree software is it is user friendly and the support staff is amazing.
The vendor is amazing, great customer service, listens to your needs and changes are made quickly, not years later.

We have had problems with OASIS acceptance and fatal errors for skip traces that the system does not automatically follow.
We were unable to bill for services for 3 months due to problems with the documentation because we were not taught how to use it correctly.
Do NOT use their program for documents. You pay a lot and when you leave Brightree it costs to get your documents back.

Pros

The software is relatively easily navigable. I do like the ability to switch between screens and patients through the home page. I feel it is a very what you see is what you get type of program. Customer service is very understanding when you reach out to them with problems.

Cons

As a provider of hospice services, the software seems more home health based. This creates some unique problems to the hospice world. Some features of the program are not really great for hospice providers. The other issues are the glitches that seem to crop up from time to time that can really have an affect on operations of a hospice provider.

I wish there was more of a separation between Hospice and Home Health, as several things that are required for Home Health are not relevant to Hospice.

As the Chief Executive Officer of a hospice program, one of my priorities is to select and utilize a software vendor which stands behind their product, proactively researches and implements enhancements ahead of ever changing regulatory requirements, as well as provides exceptional customer service support to our team. Brightree Hospice software not only meets these requirements, they exceed them....

Cons

The Care Communicate function could be enhanced to allow more flexibility with who messages are sent to. Example, groups, teams, etc. and more than 10 people per message. Also wish there was a way for the I-Phone to notify you when a message has been communicated to your i-phone app verses having to check every so often. Otherwise, very satisfied with Brightree Hospice software.

Brightree software is innovated, efficient and keeps us in compliance.

Overall, BT is very good software for our agency and encompasses home care and hospice. We had a zero deficiency survey for home care and hospice so compliance is the best aspect.

Pros

BT keeps our agency in compliance as new regulations are introduced they integrate them into the software. We have a particular account manager who goes over and beyond to explain options available in the system, follow up on any problems and supports us through the changes. The Ipads for field staff are fast and efficient, do not get virus, and our clinicians are extremely pleased.

Cons

Not understanding the system or using it to its fullest is a problem for our agency. We need better webinars and education material to be able to maneuver through the software as it is very complex. It is not exactly "user friendly".

Hospice Charting

Brightree is a good product for a hospice looking for medical charting and documentation.

Pros

Brightree allows for scheduling patients and keeping a busy patient load managed. The offline capability is great for rural visits.

Cons

The software is not as customizable as could be desired and our IT manager often had difficulty creating formats for Chaplain department.

How good is this sofware

It is a great software, however, for hospice needs more developments and upgrades

Pros

It is user-friendly and easy to navigate. I like using BT because for each specific finding there is an area marked clearly.

Cons

There some areas does not give a clear report and dashboard. As hospice provider, it is important to make sure we can have access to the collected data and have the ability to analyze them.

Pros

This hospice EMR is easy to use and the reporting section is outstanding. DOC Tracking is a great tool.

Cons

I was not pleased with the initial setup and training processes. I would like to see the ability to enter a referral via the iPad and not AFO only. I would also like to see specific state requirements integrated into Brightree. I would also like to see sync times lower and the AFO side a little faster.

Brightree is very user-friendly for clinicians and they are great about trying to streamline the product to keep it up-to-date

Cons

Implementation took a while and training was extensive. It seems to be more geared to Home Health than Hospice.

Some of the educationals are extremely time consuming and repetitious. Less repetition on a few of them would be beneficial.

I am the Executive Assistant for the Executive Director of Spanish Oaks Hospice. I use Brightree Software every day during the week. I find it to be very compatible with all the different areas of hospice I must use. I would recommend Brightree Software to anyone that would be looking for a software that covers all that you need in your job performance.

Our inpatient admission process with Brightree takes a lot longer now! Very difficult to do a 3 hr admission process when we are managing a multiple of other patients' symptoms. Additionally, much of the available "choices" in care plans and interventions are not even applicable to inpatient care. Need different care plans that focus on RN interventions for inpatients instead of teaching to "caregivers" how to provide interventions.

Pros

The Electronic medication administration is better than using paper MAR. Like the care plans set up for our nursing assistants in the 24 hour inpatient facility.

Cons

It is not set up for 24 hour care at Hospice facility. It is only set up for home care . Have to sync way too many times!

Pros

The easy access to patient information is very helpful. Being able to quickly review information about new patients or those I am not familiar with makes the process of managing hospice patients very efficient.

Cons

Frequent technical issues often cause a delay in obtaining or charting patient information. Also, when out in the field it can be frustrating trying to locate wifi access to be able to sync when new patient data needs to be reviewed.

Our hospice agency started using Brightree Hospice software in November 2014. I like how the software takes an interdisciplinary approach to care that hospices require. It also drastically reduces the amount of time spent preparing for our IDT meeting. The interdisciplinary care plan is clean and easy for the clinicians to add or make changes. I also like the scheduling component as it does not allow a visit to be made without an order. This helps keep our agency in compliance.

Pros

I like how we have been able to get rid of our paper charts and now everything is in one location - in Brightree.

Pros

This product is so easy to use! When I first started hospice, I was worried about the change in documentation and if I could remember everything I needed to document on. Brightree makes it so easy to document and use.

Cons

Having to sync every time I make a change to my schedule is somewhat annoying. I wish we could schedule our patients without this extra step.

Easy to use format

As a hospice social worker, I have found the format of Brightree easy to use and navigate. It is wonderful that you are able to access a patient's chart while completing a clinical document. The screens flow in a logically manner through the assessment, and are clearly marked to ensure that all mandatory questions are answered. The scheduling features makes it easier to manage my day and also help to assure that I have completed documentation for all visits. I would recommend this program to other hospice agencies.

Pros

The ability to swipe through the screens to access all of a patient's chart as well as the ability to look at other documents in the chart while completing a note.

Cons

My only real complaint with the Brightree software is the frequency in which it needs to be synced especially when trying to schedule and create new goals for the care plan.

I use Brightree every day in my job. I usually use AFO more than CPOC. I thought it was pretty easy to learn compared to hospital EMR systems, but I was new to the home health and hospice field when I transferred my position.

Pros

I like the iPad capability. We are getting ready to use iPads in our office and during the training I see many benefits to the program. I do like that it is web based so I can be at home and sign into Brightree and complete work. I like the updates and how Brightree continues to improve on their products. I do like the support we receive from tech side and clinical side. I believe the are sincere when trying to help me figure out issues.

Cons

Don't like that we cannot print from CPOC. I feel the reports could be more user friendly and they seem to be "down" when I need them the most. I feel we are being forced to change to iPads and CPOC is being fazed out. Did not like that I am charged a monthly fee for Brightree to interface with my hospice PBM company.

New kid on the block

As a Hospice newbie, I had plenty to learn. Knowing that I would have to learn another computer system, was really scary, to say the least. I am very nontechny. I am glad to report that my fear was for nothing because Brightree was easy to learn and makes my documentation less painful.

A huge help for hospice!

Our agency has been using this software for 3 years and feels it is a great fit for our organization. One thing that I really appreciate about this company is they have staff that has done what we do and they truly understand what we need as a hospice organization. They listen to our concerns and suggestions and have been on top of all regulatory changes that affect our organization. I would recommend this software highly.

Easy to use, good customer service and great support. The iPad is LOVED by our clinicians!
