Pros

Lucidchart is definitely one of the best diagramming software out there and it is very beginner friendly. This is shown in the fact that 99% of the Fortune 500 companies use LucidChart.
The cost of Lucid chart for the tools and benefits it provides can not be beat. It is an amazing inexpensive tool that helps my team visually document processes and make improvements.
This is super user-friendly and easy to use and share documents and flowcharts with your entire team. Just started using it with a vendor and quite impressed.

Pros

Visio has great Product functionality when compared to other software and also it has a very good & strong user community who we can reach out when in need.
Overall I'm glad to have spent the time to learn it and enjoy using Visio very much. It's been very helpful and useful for my day-to-day responsibilities at work.
This program is awesome for developing organizational chart. I love it because it makes it super easy for you to do it as well.

Cons

The inability to select multiple objects and drag around as you would expect is annoying. The auto-resize when insert into documents and update is pathetic.
The object limit on the free version seems way too low. Sometimes it's hard to register a click on the right element, but no worse than any others.
The number of symbols was limited at first, but that seems to be increasing. Page layout can be confusing until you get used to how the product handles.

Cons

More than once I had to make the same changes to a diagram cause I misplaced or lost an updated version. That is my biggest pain with visio, and is ultimately why I switched to Lucid Chart.
Formatting is the biggest challenge, especially when you have large projects it is difficult to view all and you loose track.
Using auto-arrange features can result in errors such as wrong diagram arrangement.

Budget Version of Visio, I'd suggest buying Visio.

Reviewed 2 years ago

Not impressed, they started with the goal of making a less expensive version of Visio, all that did was build a tool with fewer features that's harder to use.

Pros

Everything about this product is just a less expensive version of Visio. The only thing we like about it is the price.

Cons

Maybe I'm just too used to Visio, but I'd suggest buying Visio instead. Everything you try to do in Lucidchart can be done easier in visio

Prefer this over visio

Reviewed 8 years ago

I am a student using this for school project drawing PNID and PFD drawings. I really like how it is easier and more approachable than visio and cloud saving. It is very intuitive. I would like a few more symbols and ones that matched with visio but importing your own pictures works really well. However importing and exporting from visio needs to be improved. some symbols were changed and the user pictures were hard to deal with in visio.

Pros

Easy to use good interface ability to upload own pictures

Cons

Needs improvement in exporting and importing to visio more pictures, need visio library of pictures

Solid Product

Reviewed 8 years ago

Lucidchart diagramming is excellent. I find it a great deal easier than Visio. Where I use to work, we needed to find a diagramming solution at a reasonable price that was not a Microsoft product. I reviewed a variety and Lucidchart was the obvious winner. It is easy to use and integrates with Google Drive seamlessly. The sharing and collaboration tools are also excellent, and far superior to other diagramming applications.

Pros

Easy to Use Easy to Learn Professional appearance/final product Sharing capabilities Collaboration tools

Cons

Visio importing isn't perfected

Very Frustrating, High Learning Curve

Reviewed 11 years ago

I was looking to draw a simple flowchart and left feeling frustrated. After adding a start and a process I had a hard time figuring out how to connect them. Took me a while to realize that you have to drag the bubbles that appear when you select a box. I guess you'll get use to it after a while, but definitely not beginner friendly.

Pros

* 14 day premium plan trial * Visio import might be relevant if you plan to import Visio files

Cons

* High learning curve and little help to get started * No templates to get started, which is standard with most software nowadays * Free plan doesn't include mind maps, mock-ups etc * Mentions a object limit of 60 in free plans

A cloud based alternative to Visio.

Pros

Web based so can be accessed anywhere without the need of a file repository. Allows you to download directly in pdf format. Easy admin console, and cheaper than almost all of the competitors in the same space.

Cons

Their sales team will email you and call you just about every month to get you to upgrade. As well, the way purchasing licenses works isn't seamless or industry standard. For example when we upgraded past 10 licenses the next option at the time was purchasing 20 seats. Which left 9 unused but paid for; on one of the afformentioned sales calls I brought this up and they lowered the seats to 15 (at the time the amt of users we had). Next time I needed to add a user it jumped back up. For a cloud based service they should be able to automatically scale licenses based on users and not a "range" of users leaving us paying for more than we need.

A great cloud based solution for drawing diagrams.

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Has all the features that are needed to show visual diagrams of networks, workflows, and organization trees. I've used visio before and Lucidchart has all the features that are required to do what visio does and in most cases does it better than visio.

Cons

Online only and lacks integration with access and other database programs. I have used visio in the past to map out relational databases in visio then have that be pulled into access or MS SQL. Lucidchart does not have this functionality. But I don't think it's really their target market so I can't really fault them for that.

Very good product, good price and like the features available

Pros

Great product that is HTML5 based and provides roughly the same features as Visio in a more modern interface and with less confusion as to how movement within the diagrams go.

Only thing that could be improved on here are APIs that allow automatic creation of diagrams like Visio has and improving the Visio format import as sometimes it results in odd shapes.

One of the things that I like most about this product is that you don't have to install anything, and everything is online. Since I am running a dual system of Linux and Windows 10, this cross-platform feature is very appealing to me. However, the input method could be better, such as including more fonts, and also put a panel to input the geek symbols. Overall this is a very good product. Thank you for your work!

Pros

cross-platform, no need to install.

Pros

For basic level charts, Lucidchart does great. I think it fits the bill if your organization doesn't have abundant Visio licenses. It is easier to use than Visio. Customer support is second to none.

Cons

It is very user friendly for my organization as we make use of Microsoft office suite. It is an excellent platform for presenting ideas diagrammatically, making it very easy to be understood.

Pros

The presence of ready-made flow chart types, such as the basic, cross functional flow chart and the workflow diagram is awesome. The fact that shapes can be dragged and dropped into the flow chart makes working with visio easy

Cons

There are better FlowChart solutions

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

It creates flowcharts so it does what it says.

Cons

Microsoft has been living on its laurels with the office suite for too long. Visio is clunky and makes old looking diagrams and flowcharts. LucidChart is way more visually appealing.

Microsoft Visio, good software for diagrams and flowcharts.

Reviewed 3 years ago

Microsoft Visio is used by almost all the business owners, the marketers and even the medium level managers all around the world. It is a powerful diagrams and flowcharts creating software

Pros

The panel is a familiar navigation layout from Microsoft Office with basic known menus and options, you won’t be at a complete loss. There is a huge number of templates of different categories such as Floorplan, Business, Flowchart, Network, Engineering as well as others subcategories for each. Easily possible to Insert templates, align, distribute, get their data from a database or customize them, and make any change you wish with a simple right click. The charts are exported as web files, PDF, or sent to Autocad software with which it has a great interaction in the 2 directions.

Cons

Pricing is a little bit unfavorable comparing to the competitors Lucidchart or Smartdraw The collaboration process needs that all the collaborators to have Office 365 accounts to annotate or comment using Microsoft teams or skype business.

Mon retour d'expérience sur Visio

Reviewed 3 months ago

A Good Microsoft Product for a Business System Analyst but is it the only solution !!

Reviewed 5 years ago

To be an honest view, I'm switching to another alternative mainly to a cloud product which has the flexibility to work with all operating systems with the real-time collaboration which is a must need for an IAT professional.

Pros

1.) Can be used for Professional use, the diagram notations are standardized with the adaption of BPMN, UML. 2.) Highly recommended for professional diagramming with its variety ( Activity Diagram, Flow chart, Use Cases, DFD) 3.) It's the market leader in Professional Diagraming. (Well Known in the Market)

Cons

1.) Can only use for Windows (Not compatible with Mac or Linux) 2.) Not available of collaborative editing options to work with unlike other cloud products like lucidchart, bizagi. 3.) Expensive and SMEs can't afford the cost when other alternatives also in the market.
