Good
Has a couple of powerful features inspite of being much lighter than its alternatives. Has a very streamlined GUI.
Lacks integrated cloud save features unlike Microsoft Access

I set up a local web server with PHP and MySQL for a CMS. The integrated installer (Apache+PHP+MySQL) made good work and I hade a full functional web server in a day.
While the Microsoft SQL costs thousands, its free! It is easy to install and setup. The database access is good.
It's hard to say any bad thing about it. Maybe the performance is lower than MS SQL. The configuration may be hard for a beginner.

Since Wordpress installs MySQL as its default database, I've been using it for this. I'm considering using it for some other websites in place of Microsoft Access.
I primarily use MySQL with Wordpress sites and it works very well.
No complaints as it seems to do its job as planned.

Our company uses MySQL as a SQL server. Previously, we used Microsoft Access for this task, but it was difficult to obtain information there, it was necessary to perform calculations. In MySQL, one request is enough.
It would be easier to work if a cascading update of data appeared in MySQL. Without this function, we cannot automatically delete all data for similar requests.

Compared with 20 years of Microsoft SQL database work, the switch to MySQL was far superior. Code level language . Remote administration is vastly superior to Microsoft SQL.
The platform is stable - always working. Documentation is consistent. Updates are coherent and stable. We use it in 95% of all our projects, and it has been a life saver for our bottom line.
Choosing the right tool to download was confusing. Obviously written by developers instead of management. I'd suggest a 2-4 step process to help in choosing the right packages. The setup process could use a bit more explanation and be more lucid.

A couple lifetimes ago I worked with Lotus1*2*3. In my next life I eventually settled on Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access for data storage and manipulation. I maintained the necessary tech memberships to allow access to all forms of Microsoft software, and built example systems for existing clients in both Microsoft SQL and MySQL. Hands down the MySQL based systems have always won the client vote,...
Cost. Reliability. Ease of installation. Power.
While I have had some complaints about error locating in the MySQL code we write, I understand that the underlying technology would be degraded by more checks and balances within the system. Plus: This concept applies equally to every version of SQL we use (Postgre and MSSQL included).

Overall i would rate experience as satisfying. We have used Microsoft sql across multiple projects.
Features like auto listing of functions, tables and columns is very useful. Security features are good. Migration of data is easy. It can be plugged into application using apis easily. Documentation available is very helpful.
Export data options can be improved. While executing command from sql tool, if we can have a short cut from keyboard, it will be easier.

The most reliable data management system, the UI is very clean and attractive. As its a free and open source software,It's easy to access. It fulfils the complete workflow control as its available for Windows,Mac,Microsoft and others. Data Replication is very easy in MySQL, It's the most reliable way to store data. Its a portable software .
It crashes automatically sometimes. Even you have some complex data you still need to manage it in simple text files which becomes irritating sometimes. Configuring SQL as per your need is a bit complex. It although requires additional maintainence.

It basically provides everything that is essential to manage a database in the simplest way possible.
Combined with PhpMyAdmin interface it becomes most customizable, powerful yet easy to use database. Excellent performance for small to medium sized web projects. Reliable. Free!
Remote Access is difficult. Everything else is great.

Switching to MySQL from Microsoft SQL Server has been a great experience giving more reliability in our software package
It's easy to set up and get running without a lot of effort and runs relatively clean without a lot of system resources needed.
Some of the commands require a higher level of knowledge to work through than other products however these are typically not needed very often

Overall it's great RDBMS ,very easy to install and manager.Someone with less experience can manage and build dev or lower environment.
Easy to install this database in comparison to other RDBMS like oracle, postgresql and microsoft sql server
GUI needs to be improved because handling sessions from the tool is really cumbersome.session management part needs to be improved.

It had been a very good experience using this software and performing queries
The software is very easy to run and work on. There is tons of data available to help understand the fundamentals of it and you don't need any additional server to run it
I honestly didn't find any drawbacks or shortcomings to this product. The Microsoft brand further enhances the trust

If you want to have a SQL editor for personal use, this is always a good option
It is a very powerful SQL editor and database creator, which is also free. It can be used seamlessly with IDEs
It has a learning curve and some of the syntax works differently from the 'standard' Microsoft SQL database

We used MySQL in internal projects, because it can be installed practically in any desktop computer
It's low cost. A lot support of the open source community. Simple implementation on Microsoft Windows and Linux.
Companies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux did jump to MariaDB (fork of MySQL) and this fragment the support between ORACLE MySQL and MariaDB

You need to install workbench or other IDE separately if you don't want to use shell scripting, which is a default

We use MySql database for storing data for our in house applications that we write.
The best thing about MySql is that it is popular and is easy to integrate with. It is used by a lot of people so it is easy to find out how things are done or to get it to work with what you want to do. There are a lot of options simply on the fact of how many people use it and the fact that it was open source for so long.
The biggest downside with this software is that it is no longer open source and I believe Microsoft has bought it.

Open source RDBMS, rich community support, used for database driven webapps

All data is managed and easy to access. I highly recommended to MySQL.
I am not PHP developer. I use it to collect the data for analyzation. It secures our data and we can export our data easily through the scripts written by developers.
I didn't use it on daily basis. I always use it to export the website data. So, I didn't find any cons.

Easy managing databases with simple suit, no coding for relationships between tables, just click and dragg. Field control, data control options are awesome which to provide easier method than to code it, while for advance scenarios vba coding also available and can be done. Forms, reports, queries are designated separately but linkage available. Quick output for most no debugging and complilation, objects can be dragged and thier position, functions can be set even with mouse only. Universal access of program no special setting etc required if file is ttanafered to another PC. Linkage for mysql server is also facilitated. Database import export can be made with. Excle,. Csv files too.
No remote access of files, user based restriction is to be designed, multi user access is limited. No track of devoloment status. No log of maintenance is created.

I did give a fair chance to MS Access in the past, even set up one of my clients' projects with it. I prefer other open-source database managers, much simpler to set up and use and they are free.
MS Access is great at setting up a database, I will give it that. It is relatively easy to set up the tables with their keys and to add and edit data. There is also a massive user interface with all the different features that MS Office products usually have - to some advanced users the potential of fine tuning may be an advantage.
The setup of the server was really tough. When I had to set it up on one of my clients' machines, it took me a couple of hours to figure out what libraries were missing. Was a tough cookie! Another big con is that once the database is set up, its uses are mostly limited to only the proprietary software. There is a ton of integration and migration needed if you want to use it in a non-conventional, non-MSOffice way, basically. I really prefer MySQL and MariaDB servers to MS Access, they are much simpler to set up and very easy and intuitive to use.
