Pros

I like how you get guided prompts as your start building because it helps set a structure to how your website will be like. Most of all, I appreciate how its paid plans are cheaper than other sites.
I love how Weebly can so easily help you create a beautiful website that looks both professional and polished. It's relatively easy to use and pretty customizable.
Ease of use is the most important quality for me. But not only is it easy to use, it’s easy to get good quality results without a lot of know how.

Pros

The overall use of this product is amazing, very easy to use and my clients love it. The love the fact that they can do edits themselves.
It's good for what it is, which is a basic website maker that has the ability to make very function, nice looking pages.
Love that Squarespace introduced me to web design due to its ease of use. Templates are as great as Wix and both are really great competitors to one another.

Cons

I found it hard to go deeper when I was trying to optimise Weebly sites for SEO as you can't access some parts easily. Also, I struggled with the drag and drop, and undoing accidental movements.
Recent big frustration as we were considering upgrading and before anyone responded to our support inquiry, we were auto charged (ahead of the renewal date) for the existing plan.
Sometimes when I drag and drop a widget, it ends up halfway down the page in the wrong position, like the mouse is not calibrated or something, and this can only be fixed by doing a hard refresh.

Cons

The options are limited. Editing pages can be difficult because everything needs to be dragged and dropped into place, but most of the time all of the other blocks will shift during editing.
One of my colleagues who is taking over for me, really disliked how the Squarespace template prevented any changes. He contacted Squarespace and with their assistance was able to break the template.
The flip side is that Squarespace has few if any bugs, while Wix and Weebly can get strange errors in my experience.

Creating an online store through Weebly is fast and sites looks professional.

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

The themes! They look professional and are fully responsive. All the themes are customizable with an easy drag and drop feature. You can quickly modify a theme so it's original to your brand. Weebly also has great backend tools for managing shipping(with real-time shipping rates) and inventory. The coupon builder and gift cards is a fun way to increase sales.

Cons

Migrating your website to a different platform (Squarespace, Wordpress etc...) won't be a simple process.

There are better options out there

Reviewed 5 years ago

I've built sites in Wix, Weebly, SquareSpace, WordPress, and by hand through custom design/coding. Custom is always the best, but if you have to choose one, go with SquareSpace if it covers your needs. The template are the best and you can built sites 2-3X faster than with Wix or Weebly. Infinite customizability is NOT a good thing when building a website with a builder like this. SquareSpace limits what you can edit, which means the templates (which have been professionally designed) stay looking crisp. Editing on other platforms is messy and you'll end up messing up the templates original beautiful design.

Pros

- Better mobile site editing than Wix - Lots of app integrations - Simple for new users

Cons

- Templates are lacking - Unless you're a designer, your site is probably not going to look good. - Not as good as Wix, definitely not as good as SquareSpace or Wordpress - If you want good design without being a designer, choose SquareSpace

A good introductory website service

Reviewed 5 years ago

Definitely easy for anyone to use!

Pros

From my own experience and my clients' experience with Weebly, I recommend it as a user-friendly, beginner website creation tool. It is a good way for people to get started on their own.

Cons

It doesn't have as much functionality as Wix and SquareSpace, but it gets the job done.

Weebly is a cheap, easy to use way to create a website.

Reviewed 5 years ago

Frustrating, but ultimately fine, since it works about the same as Wix or Squarespace.

Pros

Very cheap, and it creates a professional-looking website without much required personal creativity.

Cons

Kind of hard for me to learn, although your mileage may vary. The object placement on your website template doesn't work quite like you intuitively expect it to, at least for me. I want to just click and drag and resize things, but it doesn't *quite* work that way. My wife understands and is a powerful user of weebly, but I - an experienced computer user since childhood - have a hard time making it work without spending all day googling for answers to questions and talking to support. By all means, try this, but know that getting outside help for your website might still be your best bet.

Weebly

Easiest website builder if not the most advanced

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

There's no platform for making a site that is easier to get started with than Weebly. If you fear technology and need an easy-to-make site that look reasonably good without great expense, this is the best bet. Or if you just need to get something up as fast as possible, this is a good option too, since there is little to configure.

Cons

It is not the most attractive and sophisticated platform - for that, get custom development on Wordpress or use Squarespace. Weebly is not unattractive, but it is just more aesthetically limited and not quite as modern as you can get with Squarespace or a custom site.

Use to design org website--good experience

Reviewed 3 years ago

Found it on Google and it was a free version so I used it. of course, with that came absence of features, but I found everything I needed on weebly.

Pros

I do appreciate how dumb down/simple the whole process is. It reminds me of Canva--anyone without web development experience can create their own website, for free! I think the barebones of any website can be done through Weebly and to me thats all you need

Cons

Can think of too much. If I had to nitpick, I guess it does not compete too well relatie to squarespace and all in terms of attraction. I often find my peers interested in Squarespace because it is advertised alot. Weebly i hardly see ads for.

It is an easy to use website builder It has got several templates to get inspiration from while starting to build your website.

Cons

It has limited features compared to competitors like Wix and Squarespace Its plans are expensive given their limited features

Pros

This is by far the easiest to use for someone that doesn't really know how to set up a website. Drag and drop more or less. If you have an online store you'll be able to set that up no problem. The customization options within Weebly are also pretty cool. They offer things like language switchers for the customer/visitor.

Cons

It isn't as flexible or sophisticated as Wix or Squarespace but it's ultimately what keeps Weebly as easy to use as it is.

Save time- Go with Squarespace if on a budget

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall, I would not recommend Weebly to a client. There are way better and easier tools to you such as Squarespace if you are on a budget, Wordpress if you have more to spend and looking to grow. Or even Shopify (if you require an e-commerce portion to your site).

Pros

There were some nice ease of use for quick content editing but you can really find that anywhere whether it is Wordpress or Squarespace.

Cons

Simple things that could be taken care of in Wordpress or Squarespace without coding experience- require coding experience which can really bog down timelines and increase costs.

Weebly: Great for teaching and beginner users!

Reviewed 4 years ago

For the time that I used it it fulfilled of my needs. As I continued to grow though, I choose a different option. That decision was purely personal. I can see many reasons why others would choose to stay with the software.

Pros

It was great to use for the free trial. It helps conceptualize and bring to life your dreams of a perfect website. I can see why people would continue to pay for it.

Cons

Out of a lot of website building software, this one just seemed to be a little lackluster and a little harder to maneuver than others like Squarespace or Adobe Portfolio.

Great basic website builder

Weebly is a great website builder for people who are inexperienced in the field, the limited tools is good for basic design purposes and gently guide you through the process without overwhelming you.

Pros

Weebly is an easy to use website builder great for people with little experience in creating websites, with a drag and drop interface and a good range of different tools able to be used.

Cons

Users can be limited in what they want to do with the software so if you are wanting to create more advanced websites you may be better off with other tools such a squarespace

Okay Website Builder, There Are Better Options

Reviewed 5 years ago

All in all, Weebly is a fine tool to create your website on. However, I believe using Squarespace, Wordpress and other website builders is better. They have more tools, you have more flexibility and I've experienced fewer problems with other softwares.

Pros

Weebly is a basic website builder without too many extra features and for some of my clients, that's all they need. If you have very little web development experience, Weebly could be a good option for you. They have themes and pre-built templates to utilize so it does make creating a new website pretty easy. Plus, it integrates with Square now which is a plus to many of my clients who are just starting up their business and need a payment processor.

Cons

The photo storage! My goodness, you upload a photo and you have to upload it again from your desktop instead of having it stored in a folder on your site. It's extremely annoying. Then of course, you can't customize your site as much as you can with other builders and you can't dig into many of the tools because Weebly is meant for novices (or so it seems). Plus we do get occasional glitches with some of the tools from time to time.

Out of all the DIY website builders, once of the best in terms of value

Reviewed 5 years ago

Used Weebly with a couple of smaller clients who choose it as a builder over squarespace and wix. They were all very happy with Weebly and again the pricing is fantastic if you are a small business or sole trader/blogger.

Pros

The pricing structure just makes sense, too many of the DIY Javascript based builders are far too expensive and not flexible for small business and bloggers who are not experienced enough to use Wordpress, Magento etc

Cons

It is a tad limited in what you can achieve in the back-end, however based on what it is intended for it's perfect! Highly recommend for anyone who is decently computer savvy but not familiar with HTML and building websites. No cons at all in terms of the interface and usability, it's great.

Good website maker for inexperienced users

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Weebly is incredibly easy to use. I use it primarily for clients who are extremely lacking in technical skills and who need only the most basic websites. For that usecase, it's a good choice.

Cons

For anything but the most simple website (pretty much images and text only) I prefer Wordpress, or even Squarespace. Weebly is just too limited in terms of features. That said, they have added more features and tools, so perhaps it will improve.

I Want To Try Weebly Once My Wix Subscription Is Over

Reviewed 5 years ago

From the trial that I messed around with, I enjoyed it. I want to give this a bigger shot when my Wix subscription ends and I can have greater access to certain perks with the plans Weebly offers.

Pros

What I like the most is probably that it's tied to Square, which eases the eCommerce end of web hosting. As opposed to competitors like SquareSpace and Wix, they facilitate hosting an online shop with an app that mamny people are already very familiar with and trust.

Cons

Some templates have really weird code built into it that it can make custom website building difficult. While dragging around text and images is a great perk, I've heard that some templates end up having jumbled code that may be tricky to resolve later if you don't type notes into the code. On top of that, the website may run slower if the code isn't so efficient, affecting the traffic coming into the site.

Helped a few SMBs fix their DIY Weebly websites... ehhhh

Reviewed 3 years ago

If you're desperate and can only afford a few dollars a month - this is a website builder with hosting and free SSL included, so it's a great option. If you can afford $20 a month, I think Squarespace is leaps and bounds better.

Pros

I was able to add custom CSS. It's an affordable for people who have little to no budget but do have some time to make a site and don't need anything super specific. I have not dug into the e-commerce offering for a few years, but back then it wasn't anything awesome, but it certainly wasn't terrible for the price

Cons

My biggest issue was with mobile-friendliness. I'm sure there may be different versions and some sites might be on older versions or older themes, however the ones that I've worked on were just dreadful. Any kind of mobile-responsiveness had to be done via custom HTML and CSS, which the intended Weebly user would not be able to or want to do. It was just very limited in the way of options and customization for very basic things, such as font sizes.

Weebly is an organized website builder

Reviewed 5 years ago

It is a great product for what you get if you are willing to put in the time to learn.

Pros

This online website builder feels an like Squarespace. It has many different layouts to choose from in building a website. You are Leo able to add Custom html and JavaScript. Store management, professional photos, and some analytics are just some of the great features of the site.

Cons

As with any of these web site builders, there is a learning curve.

Decent, but not the best

Reviewed 7 years ago

Weebly comes up as one of the top builders when searching online but I would recommend others over Weebly. WordPress is by far still my favorite but if you seek outside of WordPress, I think Wix or Squarespace will serve your business better. Wix has a better selection of template to get started with. Squarespace is more difficult to learn but makes beautiful professional websites. If you find a template you love, Weebly is considerably the same as Wix in my opinion. I recommend clients use trials of their top picks to see which they resonate best with.

Pros

Easy builder.

Cons

Not as good of a template selection as others. Nowhere near as powerful as WordPress.

Easy To Use Drag-and-Drop Website Builder

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Weebly is very intuitive, allowing me to drag and drop elements onto my web page. No hardcore coding is required, and the templates that they offer are very stylish and professional looking. Also, the websites created in Weebly scale very well to mobile devices, taking the work out of having to build platform-specific versions of my site.

Cons

Though the pricing model is simple to understand, it pales in comparison to some of the features on other sites (like squarespace). Although you can use weebly to host your domain, I've found that their domain name options are pretty limited, and trying to use another host is very complicated.

Stunning websites with a moderate learning curve

Reviewed 7 years ago

Squarespace really impressed me with their templates and tools for building a smooth website that looks high-end and very professional. If you are not a premium brand seeking a website that appeals to this type of audience, there are better options for you. If you want premium, then Squarespace is a great option.

Pros

Absolutely beautiful websites.

Cons

Higher learning curve than drag-and-drop builders like Wix or Weebly.

Most Attractive Web Builder

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

From experience, Squarespace allows the user to build the most attractive websites compared to other web builder tools such as Webs and Weebly.

Cons

Web builders including Squarespace do not allow as much flexibility when producing websites as conventional web development or more extensible based software such as WordPress.

Easier to use and I feel comfortable working with squarespace

Pros

1. Squarespace allows for a better customization and code access 2. It has a huge selection of design template that looks beautiful and professional. 3. It's templates are based on photography which allow easy swapping or changing for a better one if there is 4. It has a very beautiful back end design 5. It has an integrated customer support via live chats

Cons

1. It's pricing is high when compared to other direct competitors like wordpress and Weebly 2. Lack of support for 3rd party integration.

Squarespace

The intersection of web pages and e-commerce

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

I think the design capabilities of Squarespace rival Weebly and Shopify, but its use cases are more broad. I'd never use Shopify for a static landing page or contact form, and Weebly wouldn't be my first choice for an online store. Squarespace, however, offers ease of use, design freedom, reasonably low cost, and the flexibility of being great at doing both!

Cons

I didn't like how you have to pay just to send your second email marketing campaign or after so many emails you sent out. I think that should be a free feature up until a certain amount of emails are on the list. (Something like 1,000 or 5,000)... You won't make any money email marketing on the free Squarespace emails. Perhaps Shopify would be a better choice if email marketing is a massive perk for you. (If you're going for an online store)

Best looking site builder out there

Reviewed 6 years ago

I upgraded to Squarespace after a year on Weebly. Loved the platform and the website. I still recommend it to clients and colleagues. Great service.

Pros

Squarespace is the easiest way to create a visually appealing website for freelancers, and small and medium sized businesses. Beautiful templates and visual effects when published. Excellent customer service too.

Cons

Love the software, but would still be using the site builder if pricing was a little better.

Squarespace

Delivers Quality and Most of the Functions You'll Ever Need

Reviewed 3 years ago

Squarespace works great for me, and the clients I've built sites for on it. It does everything that I have needed it to, and have been able to implement HTML/CSS elements when I absolutely needed to (pretty much on a novice when it comes to code). Whenever I show someone a site I've built, they are usually impressed, even though I'm mostly building on top of the work by the template designers.

Pros

Squarespace has great templates and an easy to use, drag and drop builder. You don't need any technical or true design skills to create a solid website. The high quality templates, with predetermined styling, ensure that even a simple website looks clean and elegant. It's also easy to implement your SEO titles and tags, connect email marketing services, add Google Adsense and other plugins. The price seems pretty good for all that, though maybe slightly more expensive than other CMS options.

Cons

The main drawback I've had is that Squarespace isn't as customizable as other CMS options, like Wix or Weebly. Sometimes I just want to move a simple element over slightly, yet this often isn't possible within the block format used by Squarespace. The flip side is that Squarespace has few if any bugs, while Wix and Weebly can get strange errors in my experience.

Squarespace

Just OK in my opinion

Reviewed 3 years ago

I have been managing a Squarespace website for a few years now, and am leaving the organization, so I won’t be using this product in the future. I wouldn’t recommend it as I think Weebly and WIX are much easier to use. Google Sites is amazingly easy and free, however, not as versatile as any of the others. One of my colleagues who is taking over for me, really disliked how the Squarespace template prevented any changes. He contacted Squarespace and with their assistance was able to break the template. I would expect this, as all the website companies provide great assistance these days.

Pros

This company has invested in creating an image that “artists” should use this platform to create good looking websites. I think for the most part this is true, as the templates aren’t flexible, thus no ugly “MySpace” aesthetics are possible with this product.

Cons

Having worked with Weebly, WIX, and Google Sites, I found Squarespace to be less intuitive. The icons looked like Flickr symbols, so I was able to figure it out, but I found it really clunky in comparison to the previously mentioned companies. I had to fight the template preferences and was often left with less than desirable results. Weebly, WIX and Google Sites can be used for free. This is not possible with Squarespace.

Grow Your Impact with TurnKey Website Builder

Reviewed 2 months ago

I've used many website builders and design tools over the last decade (Wix, Weebly, etc), and Squarespace is my favorite. I love the variety of design templates available and the tech support provided.

Pros

I love how easy it is to customize and build sites.

Cons

I wish the content management tools were more robust and allowed for individual fields to be edited such as descriptions for pricing.
