Great time and billing functions, great calendar and client/contact management, and just great overall legal case management.  

It was only about $399 or $499 per year for the first user license before it became a subscription, and you could get away with upgrading ever other year.  

Also, integration with Quickbooks has always been a bit rough, but it’s manageable once you figure out the quirks.

Amicus suffers from the bane of software development: it has become a spaghetti of code that seemingly generates glitch after glitch and crash after crash as Amicus has added more features to keep up with the competition.

Customer service was scarce and often wasn't able to resolve our issues.

There is no way to alert team members that a file has exhausted their retainer so work is frequently done by a conscientious worker without realizing that we won't get paid for it.

The look of the program seems a bit outdated.  

I refuse to subscribe as the pricing is way too high.

It was the product I used from the beginning of my career at a law firm.  

It was pretty easy to set up and there weren't alot of upfront costs.

They lock you into a contract and even when you honor the term of the contract and send in written cancellation they kept charging our card.

We DO NOT rely on the calendar since we found it is not accurate and never synchronizes with Outlook as promised, over, and over, and over.   Since being forced into a subscription based model, we have found it is no longer cost effective.

Bottom line: we have had to migrate out of Amicus to a more reliable platform.

This program is a good integration of:  document management for clients; contacts; task and deadline tracking; timekeeping; billing; and, an email program.  

I had to change credit cards in order to get them to stop and do a charge back for past transactions.

Admin/Pralegal

Email, phone, task, calendaring, contact management, and document management, time keeping, expenses and billing  are well integrated.  

If you need technical support, there is none.  

We opted to have a developer custom write a program for us with all of the same features provided by Amicus Attorney.  

Attorney

this program is excellent for keeping track of cases, clients, court dates, to-do notices, escrow accounts & billing.

Paralegal

The calendar system was amazing as it would remind you that you have an upcoming appointment.

The integration with the Billing program, Quickbooks and the APX credit card payment acceptance program is a convenient timesaver, very much appreciated.

Similarly, you cannot select an entire conversation on a subject, regardless of whether it is in your Inbox or Sent box, and place them in the client file.  

The support is slightly above average, but we were forced to contact them almost daily.

Lawyer

Email integration almost never works well: multiple duplicate copiers for all recipients and not easily searchable.

Inability to immediately create letters to a contact ("person") on a file using firm letterhead.  

So, in some cases you need to clean both Inbox and Sent mail and place items in the client file.  

It also takes time to learn how to save versions of the same document and the versions are not easily seen.   

Server version constantly crashing and freezing, meaning that all notes on the desktop are lost.

Legal assistant 

I usually have to figure out software for myself as there’s usually no one To show me  This was pretty easy to figure out and great organizational tool. Once the database was created everything just flowed with the calendar and the client files together.

Notes are really hard to work with: impossible to reply to a sticky in a way that keeps a chain going and shows to whom the sticky was sent.

From a users point of view it would be more beneficial if document types could be designated from a modifiable pull down menu.  

After a couple of years of use, I still can't see a calendar on my  app or transfer my calendar to Outlook.  

No more lost billing because the billing is done at the same time as I do the work, whether it is a phone call or drafting .

Another thing is there any way to make the program use fax numbers with out the ( ) on the area code number.  

They only want to scam you and rip you off.

Inability to create a workflow overview: we need to see status of file at a glance.  

The program does not give the user an overview of the entire status of all escrows )in a separate report.

The calendar, communication center, and file management modules are invaluable and much better than just using Outlook.

I have also asked that the new company develop the ability to print a "NEW MATTER REPORT" like the old Amicus had.   

Would also like to pre-release information and a users' organization set up to provide feedback for new features and revisions to old ones.  

Getting documents out of and putting them back into a client file is a bit cumbersome.
