What is OpenFOAM?
OpenFOAM is a simulation software designed to help businesses in automotive, petroleum, research, and other sectors generate a mesh around vehicles, run transient simulation, and map field data including pressure and velocity across geometries. It offers a reader module, which allows administrators to visualize various elements related to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) such as vector plots and geometry surfaces to generate animations.
Operators can define boundary conditions, add information regarding the material used such as density, and specify thermal properties on a unified interface. OpenFOAM enables teams to analyze log files including details regarding the number of iterations and residuals of displacement in multiple directions to view convergence information. Managers can also edit mesh resolutions, ratio of cell sizes between and within blocks, and plate sizes to perform experiments.
OpenFOAM lets businesses generate 3D meshes containing split-hexahedral and hexahedral in wavefront object and stereolithography formats. Engineers can also split or remove cells and add layers to meshes.
