Overall Trello in a great app for smaller teams. When the team size grows, things could get...messy. Since we outgrew Trello, we had to change applications, but up until that point we enjoyed using Trello.
I really liked that Trello can be integrated with a bunch of other office applications like Google Forms, Slack, and Monday.com. I also liked the different plugins that we could use to modify our board. When we set due dates on different cards, TeamGantt would layout our schedule in an easy to read format.
I didn't like the horizontal scrolling. It was okay for small boards, but once we got a larger team and needed more card columns, it started to get unbearable. It just wasn't that "clean" anymore and a few members on our team went back to paper scheduling instead of using the app.

We are using this to assign tasks and to publicly show progress on projects. Key users have accounts and they can't update their progress and regular users are able to use Trello to update things for free. Everyone is able to see status changes and updates for the export to URL option.
I've been using TG for over a year on all of our projects. It's extremely flexible with how you can setup and track progress for all types of projects. I love the ability to share a public URL that has read only options for users to see real time progress. It also integrates well with Trello. Instead of buying more licenses for TG you can have users move cards in Trello that will update the status in real time within TG.
The most painful thing for me as a user as well as an admin is the dependencies. One wrong click or drag can change every single task below it. They do have an undo feature, but it's going to show all 50 (for example) of the events as changes. In my opinion it should show the 1 change and all of the 50 causes under it. This was and is my only major complaint.

One of the simplest gantt software I've used and I've used a few. The interface allows for good collaboration across teams. We typically used this to track the progress of our product development across 6 teams distributed and the linking tasks gave a very effective picture of dependencies and the impact of delays
Simple Easy to collaborate
Can only be used for tracking longer term project tasks. Cannot be used to plan small activities like the list of tasks for the day. If it had a built in sticky notes system (something like trello) it would be perfect. The comments feature doesn't work so well.

I've used project management systems/tools for over 20 years. Trello is up there as my favourite for the following type of projects: small, agile projects (in the true sense of agile, not Agile methodology), R&D collaborations or when working with dispersed teams. It's very easy to work with, each user can decide how 'military' it needs to be to suit their own working style. It can also be used as a really effective archive.
