Pros

When I have spoken to a tech they have been excellent in understanding my question and providing a solution. At times working outside the box to create the best result with the conditions present.
Overall we are happy with performance and support from LightSpeed. It's reliable and with the small amount of problems we have we are pleased.
We love how easy this was to set up. It does not require buying $20,000 worth of equipment like our first POS system did back in 2008.

Pros

I have just started using this software and I love it. I visited a store and the owner introduced me to this software to gain reward points after shopping to get exclusive content.
It was extremely easy to set up, and easy to use. The user interface is beautiful, and customers really enjoy how sleek and clean it looks.
I love the fact that I can earn points when I visit my favorite restaurants. It is also a safe an d secure app.

Cons

For example, today is a Friday and there have been 2 MAJOR OUTAGES in one day. Ultimately, this results in a terrible customer experience and literally costs thousands of dollars over time.
This POS system is terrible for retail shops doing anything more than a standard sale. It's unintuitive, confusing, easy to make errors and very frustrating.
Limited options for payment processing, having to go with a non integrated payment was frustrating, and we were also limited with payment processing options for our eCommerce site.

Cons

The Shopify integration does not work either, and for me failed at the first hurdle, (I have now been waiting 14 days for a fix).
The E-Commerce integration does not work. The Magento integration is for Magento 1m which was made obsolete in June 2018, and is no longer supported.
It horrible from A to Z, the tips always wrong, the report can’t tell how much food, liquor ,2 managers and 3 bartenders left because this system.

worst pos and customer service ever

Reviewed 3 years ago

the worst experience iv ever had!!!! -- id rather clover, paypal, or shopify over this company anyday.

Pros

I like the fact that I thought it would be a great asset to my business and team. but quickly realized it wasnt.

Cons

ITS TOO COMPLICATED, THE TIME FRAMES FOR ONLINE WEBINARS CONFLICT WITH MY SCHEDULE. THE customer service is by far the worst, they lie and lock you in a contract although you are not sure if it ideal for you business, they don't try to help resolve the issues, they avoid all calls and emails. charge for long distance calls from usa [SENSITIVE CONTENT] is the worst!!!! im almost sure they are paid by commission so their goal is to sell not actually help you get the right product to help your business. iv lost 5k dealing with this shitty company.

Vendor response

Hi Jeanee, We would like to apologize for your recent experience with Lightspeed. We see that you are currently working with a member of our Customer Success Team who are best suited to get you the assistance you need. We value our customers' feedback, and would be grateful to have the opportunity to address your needs and concerns. Thank you, Lightspeed Commerce

I highly recommend Lightspeed to anyone looking for a POS solution and an eCommerce solution.

Reviewed 5 years ago

Great experience so far. I am migrating from Clover to Lightspeed for my POS in my retail store and setting up our eCommerce site.

Pros

The Lightspeed staff support and service is excellent. Lightspeed ensured that I had the right set of products, both software and hardware and followed up with me during the entire process to ensure I was successful in my transition from another POS product. I highly recommend Lightspeed to anyone looking for a POS solution and an eCommerce solution.

Cons

Expensive compared to other solutions, but you get what you pay for....very satisfied!

Lightspeed Retail Software

Reviewed 7 years ago

We recently switched from Clover to Lightspeed. We have not got it up and running yet but we are heading in that direction. I am finding that the features are very easy to use.

Pros

The ease of use as well as the features it provides. I like that fact that it also imports to Quickbooks desktop.

Cons

I do not like that you only have two options of Merchant Service Providers with Lightspeed. I tried to contact these Merchant Service Providers and were unable to get the help I wanted. I ended up going with another Merchant Service Provider outside of the two Lightspeed told me about. However, it has turned out to be more of a headache. So note: Go with one of the providers they tell you about. I guess keep trying until you get someone who is helpful.

Best POS for small businesses

Reviewed 5 years ago

One major benefit is how easy my ordering is with their PO system.

Pros

I moved from Lightspeed to Clover and it's night and day. I had to piecemeal the Clover system on the back end to be useful and Lightspeed hands you so much. I've since added more and more of the Lightspeed system like loyalty because their tools are amazing. One of the best parts is their customer service. You get quick answers and they go above and beyond. Whether it's something as simple as why isn't my shipping working on ecom or how can I verify my website with the different social media platforms, their FAQs and customer service team never disappoint. If you are thinking about switching, do it. You won't regret it. It's made me more efficient all around. Thanks Lightspeed!

Cons

Lots of different options so it takes a bit to determine what you need to use.

Affordable Startup Cost, but You’ll Pay For it Later

Reviewed 3 years ago

Clover is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had I a retail setting. We have pushed clients to look at the Square, Shopify or LightSpeed point of sale systems in its place.

Pros

Not much to like about Clover. It gets businesses with its cheap entry pricing and variable processing rates sound good but in reality it will bleed you dry.

Cons

Everything about Clover is just terrible. It’s a clunky Android user experience, the “apps” are just annoying upsells for features that should be built into the point of sale, and the payment processing can be expensive if you get a lot of AMEX and Discover cards.

Clover P.O.S system

Reviewed 8 years ago

The clover is a great fit it seems for like bars and restaurants, but I do retail and it lacks a bit in that area. Its nice that it can clock in and out employees, and you can add costumers; but its also a bit complicated when one costumer wants to pay a part in cash and another part with a card, or when managing inventory for more than one store. Over all its good but I really wish it would be either more retail friendly or more standardise

Pros

Can clock in/out employees Can add costumers to it Can adjust the level for activities an employee can do with it

Cons

Not retail friendly Hard to do a mix pay

Not for Retailers

Reviewed 4 years ago

The problems come with the back office. The inventory system is basic to say the least, items sold at the till do decrease the totals, but all purchase quatities have to be done manually, you cannot set min and max stock levels, or re-order levels with the bundled system, so re-orders have to have a physical stock check, I am still trying to work out how this saves me time and money. Clover relies...

Pros

The till itself is fantastic, it looks ultra sleek and ultra modern, customers love it. And that is about it

It was sold to me as a solution to me retail needs it certainly is not

Reps lie

Everything. Reps take forever to get back to you. Nothing works like I was promised

Pros

Not much I was told it would work for my retail location but it’s designed for a coffee shop.

Cons

Sales rep, doesn’t do what I said I needed. Doesn’t fully sync product info into QuickBooks. Only sales no actual inventory or what was sold. Had to be done manually. The company doesn’t stand behind their product. Says final sale even though website says 60 day money back guarantee.

Could be incredible, but appears to be more geared toward restaurants instead of retail

Reviewed 2 years ago

It's been okay. When something goes wrong, there can be a lot of runaround from different techs. There is a support number that we have to contact for technical issues, a different one for banking issues, and a third for issues with certain settings within the system. It would be helpful if there was one tech support contact instead of three. The main tech support doesn't usually seem to be very knowledgeable, and have to reach out to a specialist to figure out how to help most of the time.

Pros

Clover itself wouldn't be much more than a payment processing system if it wasn't for the many apps that you can add to make it work for your business. The catch is, most of the add on apps cost a monthly fee. The option to have these apps make Clover incredibly customizable to fit exactly what you need for your store. Overall, we still saved money switching to Clover from our previous company.

Cons

The software seems to be geared more toward the restaurant industry. When we got it, we did so because it was supposed to be for all retail. We likely would not have gone this route if we had known what we do now, but we have made it work for a retail setting with the help of certain apps.

Clover is a good starter terminal.

Reviewed a year ago

For the price point, hardware, and the basic software suite, Clover is enough to get the job done. The 3rd party app system is just not great, and felt that I'm having to pay for features that should have been part of the main software suite.

Pros

The hardware is excellent, looks great, and is easy to set up. Has some great options on the retail front. Great system for a beginning business.

Cons

The app based options are not great. Some have great functionality, but has an added monthly cost for using some of them. The app store atmosphere and added subscriptions from 3rd party vendors was a bit of a letdown. The system is not as versatile or intuitive as an NCR Silver system which I am more familiar with. Permission leveling for certain features is poor.

Horrible support

Reviewed 8 years ago

This product has no way to easily take care of doing return deposits for cans and bottles. You also can not do a return without a receipt or during a current transaction. Inventory is a pain in the neck and frankly backwards unless you buy a subscription for an app by a third party and then it is just backwards.

Pros

The customers think it is pretty and all info is in the cloud.

Cons

Inventory, order building and inputting purchase orders is a pain in the neck (even with third party apps) Doing returns is backwards as if who ever coded this has never been in small retail.

Pros

fully customizable, mobility and touchscreen, immediate integration with many payment processing options, inventory management and SKU customization, online receipt storage and SMS confirmation. All in all, it's a great product that helps a lot any retail merchant.

Cons

Initial investment to be considered, both at the hardware device as well as the software integration/customization and SKU managemet. The benefits outweight that initial investment and a small merchant may need to consider a managed solution.

Almost Great...

Reviewed 4 years ago

My overall experience with clover has spanned from the creation of menus and items with sub menus and add ons for each item, as well as specials for days of the week as well as happy hour times to daily usage for pos transactions. Overall I have been very happy with everything, other than the need to set up account through bank, as I mentioned before.

Pros

I love how easy it is to use clover for grab and go, sit down service, or retail services. It is the only pos system I know of that is easy to use for one or all three of the above type of service. With one pos you can easily switch apps and have optimized layout and design for each of the above, while keeping the same items and menus/submenus.

Cons

I dislike that it has to be used through your bank. It makes it really hard for management to have the ability to access customer support and full features, since most owners dont want their employees, even management, to have access to full banking info.

Clover for retail

Reviewed 8 years ago

Very disappointed with the system. For a retail store, the system lacks in several areas. The process for updating large quantities of inventory is not very user friendly, the system is unable to track inventory for returns and exchanges, we don't have the ability to view inventory transactions and see the history of an item. The system continually has problems processing payments on the mini requiring...

Pros

The ability to view transactions via cloud

Great modern POS system for independent businesses

Reviewed a year ago

They installed and set up our Clover devices for us and ensured we understood how to use the device. We rarely run into issues using our Clover systems, and the only issues are internet based and require us to simply check our network connectivity. We are very happy with Clover and would not consider switching.

Pros

Clover has a very clean and user-friendly design. It took some getting used to when implementing our Cafe POS system and the use of tabs, but it has become very simple after the initial learning curve. Our sports facility has an easy time selling skating time, skate rentals, and some small retail items using this device. It is easy to refund and add discounts as an admin, and easy to set user privileges. The reports are helpful for bookkeeping and understanding how many attendees we have for a skating session or the number of skate rentals sold.

Cons

Utilizing Clover with a cafe was tricky to navigate initially. The tab system was not the easiest to implement, but we have grown more used to it with time.

Clover is great in the event that you will have steady business the entire year, wish to have stock control, and have a solid web association.Clover is ideal for restaurants, as well as any client-confronting organization (whether an eatery or other retail and so on) that has different workers because of its shift in the board. Clover is extraordinary when you are evaluating different limited-time offers and limits also, like cheerful hours at eateries. It is less suitable for an independent venture with not many workers, or sole ownership, which probably won't utilize every one of the additional elements Clover brings to the table.

Pros

Clover coordinates in its activity a stock control system that is refreshed in every exchange, this permits the client to certainly stand out in the renewal of stocks, consequently assisting with staying away from the stock misfortunes and permitting to quickly work out continuously the benefit and revolution of the item.Because of the security and effectiveness given by Clover we can deal with our installment payment system in a quicker and more robotized way, by utilizing their electronic gadgets we have fundamentally worked on the speed of our conveyances and the lift it produces to the consideration of potential customers.pe capabilities with most perusers.

Cons

The arrangement of the application could utilize some improvement.I feel like the application is somewhat aggravating to explore. Not outfitted towards bigger associations.Very few areas of customization.

Clover

An out of the box solution that works well for small business

Reviewed 6 years ago

Clover is an excellent and good looking choice for a small to medium size business in need of a reliable and cost effective solution. You will be pleased as I have been. The system offers quite a bit of integrations and once implemented you will be amazed at the power of this system. I wish we could have linked all stores together but we were only allowed three machines to link per location. Overall, an excellent POS!

Pros

I was in search for s POS for three thrift stores my nonprofit operated. The old cash register no longer fits the internal control environment and a switch was desperately needed. After researching multiple platforms I opted for Clover. The others were simply too expensive and too complex for our needs. The Clover system worked brilliantly and continues to power the sales desk at all three stores....

Cons

The one setback is the operating system is Android. I find Android to be clunky and prone to security threats. We had to ensure we had it on a secure network and well protected by firewalls. Additionally it took some time to learn the system. Disclaimer- we operated on a complete iOS ecosystem until we bright on Clover. So not a big setback just more learning.

Clover not a choice for retail, very misrepresented and pricey

Reviewed 8 years ago
Pros

There is absolutely nothing that I like about this product except maybe the appearance and not too bad adding in stock that is already in the system.

Cons

This is marketed as a state of the art POS system with added capabilities through apps. However the base system is so limited that i would not even consider it a POS system, but more of an expensive payment processor. I had researched retail systems and most have lots of features and capabilities such as accepting unlimited bar codes, include a wide variety of detailed reports, inventory management...
