Very well point of sale actually the best
With Lightspeed we have obtained a greater number of sales, thanks to the ease of using the platform all the staff that is destined to carry out any activity within it can do it, since all configuration is always simple and clear when implementing it
The only fault that we have experienced when using lightspeed is that when we are working with many products it starts to get something slow. Outside of that I do not see any other setback

Additional inventory flexibility such as multiple (and preferred) vendors per item (not found in QB) and a visually appealing point of sale platform.
Beautiful point of sale platform packed with versatility and some of the best customer service out there.
Better suited for a typical retail operation, we tried this for a natural stone flooring operation and there were some limitations on items such as unit of measure and other inventory fields. On the other hand, there were a lot of options / features available not found in conventional software programs.

Book and comic book retail have increasingly niche point-of-sale needs but Lightspeed checks all of the very specific boxes for both.
Lightspeed is an all-inclusive point-of-sale software that meets the needs of every bookstore and comic bookstore.
To get the most out of Lightspeed, one may need to develop some coding skills to really take advantage of the system's full capabilities.

Overall, I think Lightspeed is an excellent source for retail sources for point of sale and record keeping.
Lightspeed's customer service is excellent. They're quick and efficient, even through the chat option, which is what I typically use. I've described my problem pretty simply and three times that i've had to contact them, they've solved it very efficiently.
it would be great if there was a scheduling capability or alerts you could set on products. neither of these things are necessary but would be nice.

With this system in place, our point of sale system has been very efficient, easy to use, and even fun at times.
I sometimes feel that the layout of the main menu could be even more simplified in order to make transactions even more efficient.

Lightspeed is a good solution for point of sale in a retail environment. It's also useful for customer database, keeping track of inventory, creating reports to track sales, etc.
There's needs to be more control allocating products so it does not show as available in inventory if set aside for impending use/sale.

Lightspeed started with a brilliant value proposition: a Point of Sale system that integrates with well-known web store solutions (e.g.-Magento), allowing small retail to go online with an integrated platform.
Unfortunately, the software doesn't work the way we want. We've had a support ticket open for five weeks on data corruption that renders our webstore completely unusable. On top of this, they changed pricing after we purchased it, now requiring a constant support contract or forcing us into a much more expensive subscription model.

It is capable software system can handle your small retail shop with ease. inventory management, barcoding, point of sale, price tracking, reports etc all work well. It is bit hard to reach for customer service and lots of training required.
Software is intact, does not give random errors. you can count on
it is a bit hard to settle if you have an inventory at some other software. it would be better to have more sync options.

Our previous POS was computer based and we had to be on site to do any work. This is a smooth, web based, fully accessible point of sale solution. We can address real time issues at the register as well as investigate inventory issues, pricing...
Can use it anywhere on any device to monitor and address business issues. Real time view of business operations. Responsive customer support. Everything I can do at the office I can do from home, no need to download information for trade shows...
Import of entire inventory and customers is a bit daunting.

Up to the minute accuracy on POS when any information in the backend is changed. I like the professional layout of the iPad Cash Register, the ease of use for casual staff, and the ease of exporting information into QuickBooks.
I don't like that a sale is automatically started when you log in. If you don't make that sale and the iPad goes to sleep, the sale remains open, and a new one opens up when you log in again. It means that many transactions of $0.00 are left open.

I've been very satisfied overall. And it allows me to make more money.
I use lightspeed for my Point of Sale, Merchant Services, E-Commerce, & Website Hosting. It also works along with my Quickbooks accounting software. The biggest benefits for me are having one point of contact for all those services, 24/7 Support, that it is cloud based, and that I can access the system when I'm away from work to make customer quotes, check pricing, or help an employee on my day off. It allows me to make more money.

There purchasing orders need work. If your a store that deals many orders like a convenience, grocery, liquor store etc. This system is not for you. It's unable to track inventory correctly unless your receive the order immediately before it's out on your shelves. The inventory is unable to go negative which makes it a huge hassle to double check inventory constantly. Your restricted to only a couple credir card processors. There are a couple more cloud based systems on the market around the same price range that have been more stable over the years. I would stay away they may be going bankrupt since they all the customers will be switching after this year because of the performance issues of being down so often
They got a large staff to apologize for the constant outages that occur with there software English speaking customer service Sleek design Mobile Friendly Comprehensive Reporting
I've had the system for a little over a year now and it has had glitches at least 10 times to where it is unusable and you have to go cash only. Point of Sale systems cannot have that many issues in one year. It's unacceptable.

Lightspeed has been a great company to work with. Their tech support team does a good job helping troubleshoot issues and providing work flows (i.e. work arounds).
Lightspeed OnSite is a unique product since it runs on Apple OS. We have found this OS to be easier to employ across our retail environment and alleviates some security concerns. Installation and upgrades are easy to apply and maintain. Day-to-day register operations are not lacking and are on par with the leading point of sale systems.
OnSite is lacking in back office integrations. While it does provide reasonable reporting facilities their is no ability to do a free form query. We also find the system to run sluggishly and find the need to do system restarts on a regular basis. We have been using this software for 5+ years and there is no way to archive transactions. I believe that the size of our database - 250K products, 150K+ invoices and POs is at the root of the speed declines. OnSite does not have a clean interface for integrating with a web store. Proceed carefully if you are going to use this system in conjunction with e-commerce.

The experience has been fantastic. The support staff and sales team have been great. The ease of use is something very special compared to their competition. It has allowed our business to prosper in these uncertain times.
Being able to always be connected to our point of sale via my phone or computer, no matter where I am has been crucial. With Lightspeed being cloud based, I can work from anywhere I want. I am able to ring up customers on my phone if needed, create purchase orders from trade shows, and stay connected to customers at all times.
There aren't any real issues that we have had with Lightspeed. They are continuing to improve the workflow with Lightspeed eCom which will only make the overall package even better.

Great inventory control for single or multi location retailers Excellent and easy to use Point of Sale System Very flexible so that you can fit it into a variety of work processes Excellent support via chat, screen share and phone Syncs with QuickBooks and othe popular accounting software with their Lightspeed Accounting package Report data can be viewed on screen or exported for more detailed analysis.
Limited user permissions give individual users too much power (they can export data without any way to turn it off). For example you cannot prevent staff from exporting your customer database without turning off their access to look up and add customers to sales, which is a must to really use Lightspeed to its full. This is really a major glaring hole and one they are aware of, but are not in a hurry to fix. We have been using them for 2 years and complaining about this for two years with no resolve or attempted resolve yet. Other than this we really like them, but this is a very large pain point for us and other customers.

Lightspeed has literally saved us 20-30 hours per week. It connects and communicates well with all of our other systems; including accounting and loyalty platforms. Their customer and technical support have been extraordinary and have exceeded our expectations. In fact, I think their technical support is the best not just in the point of sale industry but any industry. I find myself wishing other vendors I work with had the same level of support and professionalism. Lightspeed also listens to their customers; this is evident by requests made in their support area. They actually respond to every request. As a small business owner, we worry about many things. Lightspeed is not one of them!
After two other point of sale systems; and after two years using Lightspeed, it is by far the best in all categories. We had two previous POS systems that fell short in comparison to Lightspeed. Part of our success with Lightspeed is that after two previous point of sale systems; we knew what we really needed and the right questions to ask during the sales process. We submitted specific questions...
The only limitation we have with Lightspeed in related to the fact that we sell a lot of items by weight. This does not create a significant problem for us; but having bulk items accounted for in inventory would be a nice to have. We would love an integrated scale capability. The Lightspeed team was more than willing to help us set up our system to sell bulk items; it works better than another other POS we looked at.

I am extremely upset that Lightspeed contacted me after they purchased Shopkeep to encourage me to move to Lightspeed and left me with a non-usable inventory system. The data transition has been an absolute nightmare rendering my point of sale system unable to produce accurate reports or even give a correct value of my inventory. Absolutely unacceptable that an inventory system cannot give you a correct inventory number.
The integration of their POS and e-commerce is awesome.
Transition of data from Shopkeep to Lightspeed (at Lightspeed’s suggestion) was an absolute HORROR.

A company should be judged not when we things go as expected, but when things go wrong and this company will stop at nothing to avoid fault. I was assured by sales that it would and I signed my agreement and wired funds for software, hardware, and installation (including...
Programming was straightforward and intuitive.
The sales department will say anything to make a sale, with shameless disregard for the truth.

We run a one location bicycle sales and repair shop in NJ. For the past 10 years we used Microsoft Dynamics Point of Sale. Because Microsoft chose to exit the Point of Sale space, we needed to replace our system, with something that was flexible, cloud based, and expandable. Another key requirement was solid technical support 24-7, 365. We looked at many systems and settled on Lightspeed....
If we had to pick one item that could a little work it would be the year end annual inventory module. There is no current capability to be able to scan all on hand inventory into the system and compare it against on hand computer balances.

No system is perfect, but we have found LightSpeed has overall exceeded our expectations, and we are very pleased with the program and their service!
We have been using LightSpeed point of sale systems since 2014, and are very pleased overall. We found the program easy to use and adaptable. The dashboard provides many terrific reports for inventory/profit / sales information. The customer service & help desk have always been readily available for questions, and prompt with answers and technical support. They also offer online seminars and learning sessions for retailers. We have not used either the Loyalty app or the Online e-commerce yet.
We have the odd issue with printing receipts and labels, depending on if we are using the system in Firefox or Chrome. Each web engine has its pros & cons. We can usually sort out printing issues without involving technical support. Ideally, we would prefer specific information on our sales labels, but what we do have will suffice.

Setup of the self-hosted version was simple enough. It's just a PHP app, as the name says. The online trial is a pretty good a feel for the system before purchase, so I would recommend that.
Easy to use web based front end and administration interfaces. Works well with touchscreens (capacitive or resistive) or mouse/keyboard. Option to be cloud or self-hosted.
In our case, it was not suitable for some use-cases, as it caters to retail environments and not hospitality (restaurant, bar, etc).
