Customer service thumbs down.
Once you’re use to it it’s like riding a bike. They send tech support to the shop to get set up which was great. He was a gem. Now if you call customer support be prepared to be in hold for quit some time. I usually let number for a call back. After waiting half hour I have to call back. Too much time to wait!!!
This is our first shop management software so I can’t compare to others.

Seamless integration and better shop efficiency.
Integration with NAPA ProLink and other common software I often use. Able to export to QuickBooks. Easy to use.
Locks up from time to time. Also does not integrate with CarFax. Not too many other cons that I can think of.

Great support , ability to measure just about any task in my shop, ability to order NAPA parts from program; complete shop management system!!
Data entry is case sensitive which isn't that big of deal. Also ,sometimes you must navigate through several windows to get to your desired screen.
Hi Mike, We are currently working on a revision to the application that is not case sensitive. The new revision will also allow you to have multiple pages up at one time.

Definitely recommend this product for ANY starting shop.
This software is what really helped me get off the ground. It helped to show me how to build better income and make the shop more efficient
Have had a couple glitches in the app so may need a check on the coding but absolutely nothing major.

Still plugging along with this hoping things will improve. The platform has the potential to be the best in the industry but needs a ton of cleanup in the code, improvement with the integrations and frankly, the price point is exorbitant for something with as many issues.
Overall a great shop management tool. Full featured and handles most all aspects of your shop from estimate through invoice along with history and accounting reports.
The code that drives the software is very klunky. It's so heavy to run that the best computer you can buy off the shelf at your local electronics supplier will struggle to keep up. Be prepared to invest in a computer that is WAY above average in both processor power and ram. Otherwise you'll be restarting your Napa Tracs several times a day to release the memory the software has bogged everything...

I have introductory pricing and ProDemand at a good price as a bundle So that has been a good but once the price goes up I will end up paying for software features I don't use If there was a simple version available for a cheaper price with less features but still ties into Napa Tracs
1. ease of ordering Napa parts 2. plate and vin scan into work order
The software is cumbersome and difficult to learn for a small auto repair shop we dont use 75% of the features

The longer I use, it is getting easier to use, I would not want to go back to writing out tickets.
Being new to a SMS in a small repair shop , it saves so much time invoicing and quoting jobs.
Living in a very rural area, we don't get the hands on help to learn new system, but tech line is very helpful.

Overall experience is good. Easy to use and learn
There is nothing about Napa Tracs that we do not like. The whole system is useful to our shop
The customer look up feature could be more friendly. Looking up existing customers, adding new customers, the active and inactive look ups

Very good we have used it a long time. It works very well with our shop. We are 65 miles from parts so knowing where parts are and when they will be at are shop is huge. I t is nice to see profitability on each ticket. very simple to use.
We like how easy it is to use electronic cataloging with the work orders. we can easily see where parts are and how long to get them. lately with some parts hart to get it helps to know where it is .
it would very easy to put a small book keeping program with it. tTo make it simpler than imorting to qick books

The ease for us to add parts to our inventory and keep track of the customer and the items that are in our system. Along with the ease for us to customize and use key phrases that we use throughout the shop daily which allow all in the shop to understand our operation clearly.
Initially the concern was having to add in the customized pricing rules to pair with our matrix, just based on profit versus markup. Once that was adjusted I gives us transparency in order to correctly bill our customers honestly. Some features that are set to be upgrades like a item catalog enhancement will be helpful.

increase efficiency, provide better support to customers with list of vehicles, adding the features that quick books didn't have for shop management
Manual import of parts from other vendors.
Hi Gabby, We will be introducing the Epicor Industry Catalog soon which will allow electronic purchases from other vendors, as well as the ability to import them directly to your system.

This program really helps you keep track of your customers, sales, graphs, your customer's vehicles. I would recommend this program to other shop owners!
The program does take some getting used to, but once you do is great. Helping someone train on this program takes time.

The "Windows" format is very nice. Has most of the features we need. Integration was simple as we were not using a shop management program prior to purchase.
Spell check is dismal at best. No way of adding "industry" related words to the dictionary. IE: Hyd. for hydraulic oil. The older version allowed this but the Legacy version does not. The most frustrating MISSING feature is a "predictive" search feature for searching parts (Items). It should auto populate as you start to search. Same thing applies to the customer look up. If you don't type in the customer name EXACTLY as it is in the system it will not pull up.

I have always had a great experience with NAPA TRACS. The installation, updates, technical support, and feature enhancements are all easy to comprehend and their online training is awesome!
NAPA TRACS is an easy-to-use shop management software that is simple to train new staff members on and has detailed reporting for all my tracking needs.
The built-in invoicing could be more visually appealing for clients but is a clean look as it currently is.

I have had to call a couple time for help & the experience has been good.
The ability to add notes everyone can see when a customer has a specific need when scheduling for a service.
The first Version I liked better, you could extend appointments to show how long a job is expected to be in the shop. It was easier to show a time line when something else could be scheduled in.

Tracs is intuitive and helped us modernize the shop that we bought that was using all paper. It helped us quickly get a grip on inventory and customer lists. No more paper scheduling.
The description field won't auto-fill in the estimate screen like it does with the item number. Often, we don't have an item number when we are creating an estimate. You have to go to the items page and search by description, and even then, you can't cut and paste the item number to the estimate. We are having to write the item number down on paper to transfer it to the estimate. This is a very inefficient workflow. It would be hugely helpful to have the description field auto-fill like it does with the item number, especially because we were really diligent entering our item descriptions.
Hi Ian, When you add an item to the system the first time you DO have the option to fill out the descriptions. Then when you pull up the item in the future, the description will come over appropriately.

i really like the system but will unfortunately have to change i feel that if i had a stationary shop location and wasnt on the road contantly that it would be a great system. i use the enterprise version and actually like i stated love it but will have to change so i can adapt and grow my business for the future i will probably return in the future once i have a shop location and am not going back and forth between devices as much
I love napa Tracs but as a mobile automotive repair business I have found certain limitations it has to be hooked to a laptop for invoicing estimates. unfortunately I will have to be looking for a more mobile option if possible . i like the ability to send and invoice work orders estimates and invoices on the fly with ease of access being able to access mitchell one for my diagnostics and being able...
i wish tracs would do a better job of integrating the parts into the work order but in order to do that you have to actually order the parts instead you spend a lot of time copying and pasting part numbers and information from the pro link screen to the work orders and also the way i use it is considering i dont always make the sales cause some customers buy and dont buy i use an item i have made...

I have never used another shop management system before TRACS, the update from TRACS Legacy to TRACS Enterprise went well overall. I had more headaches updating our 3rd party integrated services than the TRACS update itself. New schedule view is great.
Why was the in program browser build on Internet Explorer instead of Edge, Chrome, or Firefox? With IE any time the browser hangs it freezes the whole program. Auto linking of Tech-Bay, or allowing the schedule to view by tech instead of by bay. Allow a client to kick another client out of an appointment, or don't have an appointment also lock the work order.

They are great at solving our company issues. we are a growing company and with that comes with growing pains. Tracs has been great in helping us grow our company and looking into the features we need for the future.
- Pricing - Multi-shop support - Reporting - Simple to use - Pricing profile per customer - Pricing profiles can be setup to support item type, item manufacture, by tech, by vendor, and so on - Updated at least once every 2 months - Great support channels
- inventory - open api could be larger(they are working on this to include more)

The conversion was seamless so all has been well.
We recently converted to Enterprise from Legacy and realized we should have done it sooner. The additional functuality has made us more efficient in the shop. The labor matrix is something I have wanted for a long time. Overall very happy with Enterprise.
So far for what we have experienced I can't find any problems.
