What is Hedge?
Hedge is a lightweight software package for Mac and Windows PCs and laptops that makes it possible to back up large media files at lightning speed. The software is activated online. Transfers are verified through checksums and with each transfer, Hedge automatically generates a media hash list (MHL) in XML format with metadata.Presets can be used to let the software control what needs to be copied from there, and if desired, the files on the destination disk can be renamed. It is possible to exclude files based on their extensions. When transferring to an already existing folder structure, duplicates are detected. Skipped files appear in the transfer log. Multiple transfers can be made at the same time. The logs are always stored locally.Hedge can be used to write scripts for specific events, allowing the integration of Hedge into a workflow. For macOS, the scripts are written in Applescript and for Windows, they are written in Python. The events that can trigger a script are disc added, disc idle, disc busy, disc removed, and file copy completed.
