Codemagic's key features

GetApp's analysis of 35 verified user reviews collected between July 2021 and August 2024 identifies Codemagic's most critical features and summarizes user sentiment about those features.

Deployment management

Reviewers appreciate Codemagic's deployment management capabilities, highlighting its full control from pre-build to post-deployment. They find the auto-build and deploy functionality valuable, as it simplifies continuous integration and deployment processes. Users report ease in publishing to Play Store and App Store, and they value the flexibility in adding recipients and writing upload notes. However, some mention issues with slow builds on paid Apple VMs and confusion with Android package emails. They also note the need for better integration with app centers and improved documentation. Of the 17 Codemagic users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Deployment Management, 94% rated this feature as important or highly important.

“Again its a great feature, from pre-build to post-deployment we can have full control. The only problem that I find is, every time while building the app is that the machine has to start, then download all the dependencies, and then build. However, I understand that it is not possible to store all the individual apps dependencies and other data on the server. And since Codemagic has auto-build and deploy functionality this doesn't bother us much.”

Debugging

Users report that Codemagic's debugging capabilities are highly effective, with real-time logs and detailed error reporting tools making it easy to locate and fix code errors. They appreciate the ability to SSH into the build machine for deeper inspection and the clear display of errors in the YAML file or script. Reviewers find the logs viewer and remote server access via SSH and VNC helpful. However, some suggest improvements in log color coding and mention occasional slow linking with local devices. Of the 16 Codemagic users who gave detailed accounts of their use of Debugging, 88% rated this feature as important or highly important.
