Pros

They have great features and the Capital option is totally awesome. I wouldn't trade them for the world.
Stripe is a great tool and platform, very easy to use easy to setup and secure that clients can trust with their accounts.
I think Stripe is great payment gateway for any eCommerce business. They have great rates and I find them better than other payment processors.

Pros

The greatest benefit that came from this software, for me, is the ability to conduct business, specifically, complete a payment transaction, no matter where you are located.
Square is an awesome piece of software to use. The retail side has great capabilities for sales, inventory, gift cards, rewards, and much much more.
Square is very simple to learn and use as an end user, and it has gain a lot of popularity recently, customers feel more and more comfortable with this system.

Cons

They refunded customers 3 months after the purchase without me knowing and they already have their items. My customers are also upset with this disgusting company.
Fees for same country payments are too high and once funds have been taken they are then held for 14 days. Appalling customer service who basically said too bad.
They verified it was a scammer, refunded the stolen credit card, did not charge me fees and contacted the US internet fraud division with the information.

Cons

If I am to complain about something I would complain about the percentage I am giving back to square but that it the cost of doing business.
The only thing that has ever been slightly frustrating is the traditional card reader being sensitive when swiping cards. Sometimes I'll have to try 3-4 times to get it to register.
I dislike that it fails sometimes and it is not accessible at many different vendors and restaurants.

Stripe

One of the best online payment proccessors available on the market.

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

On top of all the generic features you would expect from a payment possessor, the Stripe API can be integrated into fairly complex apps and has tons of different ways to charge payments, meaning its a great system to use when coding an app or a similar software.

Cons

Stripe has fairly poor point of sale functionality and charges a vary high rate for such a feature.

Stripe Review

Reviewed 5 years ago

Great easy to work with platform especially on he development side of things with integrating it into a web application.

Pros

What I really like about Stripe is how easy it is to integrate it into just about any sort of application and with stripe terminal it now competes very much directly with Square and their point of sale system. Very quick to get started and strong security for transactions. Never had an issue and will continue to use this.

Cons

Unfortunately for the higher dollar transactions, the fees can become rather prohibitive and really cut into sales. This could potentially be lowered.

I have used it in a few capacities, but it excels in one area

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have used it in a few capacities, but it excels in one area... point of sales! this isn't a replacement to PayPal or Venmo, this is best intended for point of sales (like Square).

Pros

it's available everywhere and it is incredibly flexible if you're wanting to work it into an e-commerce environment.

Cons

i don't think the platform has done a great job of positioning itself as point of sale over a social platform that sends and receives cash, but maybe that's just me?

Stripe provides reliable and straightforward CC processing

Reviewed 5 years ago

I use Stripe in conjunction with our FareHarbor ticket booking platform. Compared to previous credit card processors I have used before, the reliability is second to none.

Pros

Stripe has been extremely reliable for both online and point of sale transactions. Furthermore, the pricing is straightforward and competitive, giving me as the end user confidence that I'm getting a quality product for a fair price.

Cons

I have only had one (1) instance in one-and-a-half years of a botched transaction. Frankly, I don't have any cons.

Stripe

Simple but Effective Tool

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall, Stripe has allowed us to have a successful online point of sale system. It integrates seamlessly into our (WordPress) website and automatically deposits our funds into our bank account. It's a great tool for any individual or company.

Pros

This software was very easy to integrate into our online store. In just a few minutes, we were able to start selling our digital products and receiving money for them. Stripe also automatically deposits money into our bank account, so we don't have to log in to make a manual transfer. It's so easy and automated.

Cons

There are really no cons that we've found so far. It's affordable and does a great job. We haven't found any connectivity issues or errors to date, so we really have no complaints.

Stripe

Stripe - One of the best and most affordable Payment Gateways

Reviewed 4 years ago

Stripe is one of the top 2 payment gateways that we recommend our eCommerce clients. The feedback from them is always positive and they often thank us for recommending it to them.

Pros

There are so many options when it comes to payment gateways for eCommerce websites and point of sale. The best thing about Stripe is that it is easy-to-use and setup and more importantly, you can have one account for your online eCommerce payments and in-person POS + all of the necessary equipment to go with it.

Cons

There aren't too many negatives. The only issue that we come across is that Stripe does not allow accounts for specific industries (e.g. CBD sales). Hopefully, they will lighten their restrictions over time.

Easy to Get Going

Reviewed 5 years ago

I've installed Stripe on several sites, and except for cases where a client wanted to prioress a single solution for both in-person and online sales (ie, Square), Stripe is always the first thing I recommend. They're an excellent streamlined service, and I highly recommend them.

Pros

For small business people setting up their websites & e-commerce solutions, Stripe is amazing. It's easy to sign up, get an integration for your site, grab your API keys and get going. No problem, no hassle.

Cons

I haven't had any significant issues with Stripe - it's always a solution I offer to people when I am building their websites. The one exception to this is that similar services - PayPal and Square - have card readers readily available for sale, whereas I believe Stripe's readers are still in Invite-Only status.

Stripe

A great payment gateway for API driven workflows.

Reviewed 4 years ago

For use with existing g plugins stripe is an easy payment gateway to get started with and you don't have to deal with any sales people or bank administrators.

Pros

For use cases where an API workflow steady exists, stripe is easily a preferred method for me. Many existing e-commerce plugins out there already support stripe and you can set up physical POS hardware to use it as well.

Cons

Stripe isn't quite as easy to use out of the box like square is and it lacks some of the built in sales methods that square does. I believe it s a different animal though and can't be Co pared directly.

Stripe for Portability

I like Stripe very much. I believe they have become and Industry standard in the portable point of purchase arena.

Pros

I have used different forms of Stripe such as the attachable Smart Phone hardware and the Point of Sale card readers. All work really well and as intended. Stripe is a great company that builds a great product that just works. It is a great way to go paperless. Setup is easy and the cost for purchasing units in not obseen.

Cons

The charge per transaction for smaller companies seems a bit high, but for convenience.....I get it. The cost can always be built into your product and service.

Stripe

Reliable, easy to use payment processing

Reviewed 5 years ago

We have used AuthorizeNet, Square, and Stripe for our processing. So far, I'm much happier with Stripe than the others due to the ease of use, both in configuration and reviewing reports. After trying Stripe with one business, we quickly decided to move the others over. I hope they get around to adding a mobile solution similar to Square.

Pros

The best part of Stripe is how easy it is to set up. I'm using it for multiple businesses. Setting up each business was quick, easy, and error free. I'm able to access each business with a single login, but each business is kept independent, so it's clear and always easy to see which account I'm reviewing. In addition, adding others that need to have access (partners, bookkeeper, assistant), and granting them only the privileges they need has been equally straightforward. We have both custom applications that we needed to integrate Stripe with, as well as off the shelf packages/services and have found it very easy to set up for all of our uses. Navigating purchases, receipts, and reports is also easy. We have had no issues at all with service so far.

Cons

The only thing I'm disappointed by is the lack of a mobile solution. For mobile payments, we're using Square.

Stripe

Very useful for a small business

Reviewed 5 years ago

My overall experience has been great. We recently had an outdoor/ tent book sale and Stripe didn't excessively drain my phone while I sat outside ringing people up all day. I definitely recommend Stripe.

Pros

If you were to stop everything and take a poll of how many people have cash on them right this second in modern day America... In comes Stripe. I work with a couple of clients that run occasional selling events and more often than not, people will ask if we can take cards! Indeed we can thanks to Square! I can't imagine how much revenue we would have missed if we were functioning as cash only. They take out all the heavy lifting for a non-traditional business doing a sale. We don't have a register and now we will never need one. You can pop the little Square attachment onto your phone or iPad and you're basically good to go (after you register and all that jazz).

Cons

I feel like the biggest con now is that the iPhones keep changing. I personally no longer have a headphone jack on my phone (older iPhones still do and bless because it comes in handy). Luckily, they have different hardware set ups that don't need to physically plug into the phone so it isn't an insurmountable issue, just a tiny pain for those that upgraded their phones but have the plug in card readers. You can also manually enter the card information in a bind.

Square Point of Sale

Love Love Square

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall, I prefer square any day over stripe and PayPal payments.

Pros

Love live square. Love that it can be used for both in store and online payments. It sync with my quickbooks which saves me a whole lot of time. It gives detail daily reports which includes best seller of the day, number of sales, number of products sold and what type of product sold, taxes paid, types of payment the customers used, plus it syncs with my online store inventory. Square gives you all the detail info you never realized you need till you need it all in one place. So easy to use and tailored for retailers. Love the Apple Pay feature too.

Cons

My big con with square integration is it doesn’t sync well with bigcommerce. By that I mean, my online sales gets imported as a custom order so there is no itemized list of what the customers bought. Also with bigcommerce, there is no way for me to take Apple Pay or other digital wallet payments. Square does have digital wallet payment options with their square space shopping cart. Fingers crossed they will fix this custom import stuff soon.

Square Point of Sale

A quick fix to an industry problem

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall Square is phenomenally good at easily processing point of sale transactions, even with just a mobile device and a card reader which can be purchased for $15 or less at many major retailers. They are one of the only fast solutions I was able to purchase on the go and facilitate commerce on the go.

Pros

Very fast deployment and ease of use, all you need is the Square app and possibly a mag stripe reader in order to receive payments from mag stripe cards. Square's versatility with payment options and ease of use shows they truly have passion for what they do.

Cons

There has been some talk in the press about them cancelling payments for those related to political movements. Such actions are deplorable.

Like buttah!

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

What's not to like. Very powerful, yet intuitive software help you setup inventory, track sales, calculate tax and get payments with cards. Cash is no longer king, especially with Square around. I even helped my 70+ year old mother set up a square reader for her iPhone and take payments of the little knick-knacks she sells for my dad's business. If she can do it, anyone can.

Cons

Not much. The stripe readers aren't the best, but with everything going to chip that is getting eliminated.

Pros

Super easy to use, and a great option for in person sales

Cons

It lacks some of the more detailed functionality of Stripe, so I only use it as a backup system

Square is so convenient

Reviewed 4 years ago

Super easy to navigate and user-friendly. Customer service has also always been very helpful.

Pros

I love how portable and easy to use the hardware is. It makes all the difference being able to be mobile and also look professional.

Cons

I don't like that it doesn't integrate with Wix. It's less convenient when I have to toggle b/w Square and Stripe.

Will that be MasterCard , Visa or American Express

With square providing Free magnetic stripe card readers and only charge a fair fee for a chipped card reader I can collect money very easy from my customers

Pros

For a small company it was vital for us to be able to accept credit card payments and Square allows small businesses to do so very inexpensivly!

Cons

I suppose the only down side is the credit card fee that is charged on every transaction which if you accept some large payments, adds up very quickly!

Square Point of Sale

Essential for portable sales.

Reviewed 7 years ago

Our experience with Square has been small but hugely positive. Easy to sign up, and really intuitive to setup and operate. It is unfortunate that it can not be our catch all solution for sales since it can not integrate everywhere we need it to. Beyond our own experience though we see so many small business and artisans who are using Square because it offers something so affordable, so simple and adds a layer of confidence to your transactions that can move with you everywhere.

Pros

My favorite thing about Square POS is the tiny card reader for your phone. This tiny piece of (free) hardware that comes with your account setup delivers something that is remarkable. It gives your customers confidence in your transaction on the phone instead of taking there card number and inputting it manually like some other offerings.

Cons

Not enough integration - Square seems to be in a grey zone, where it is not quite a payment gateway like Stripe. It would definitely benefit from some expansion in that direction

Square - Works Well for Basic Processing

Reviewed 5 years ago

Square served our business well for a number of years as an easy way to collect donations at fundraisers and rental payments at our offices. We recently ‘grew out’ of Squares limited capabilities, and switched to Stripe.

Pros

Square’s platform is clear, simple, and easy to use. Refunds are easy to process and confirmation emails are easy to customize.

Cons

Customer and product management in Square can be very time consuming. The readers don’t stay in good condition very long.

Square

Reviewed 5 years ago

There's a reason so many small businesses use Stripe - it works. We use it at our gift shop, and $5 card readers that work with any phone means that we can easily scale up to have multiple "registers" at larger fundraising events.

Pros

Square is easy to use - all you need as a phone. I was pleased to learn that new card readers are available that plug into iPhone lightning jacks, since these phones no longer have headphone jacks and aren't compatible with the old readers.

Cons

I would like to be able to use the chip reader, but can't justify the price. In the meantime, the card reader (swiping cards) works fine.

Square Point of Sale

absolute best point of sale

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

it operates swiftly and consistently (unless the card stripe is bad). At each pivotal point, Square offers data feedback, which can be disabled if desired. I really appreciate Square's cost and faster settlement options, as well as the many other features they provide for small businesses. Although I don't use them, they certainly look wonderful.

Cons

Occasionally, the portion that the card fits into has issues, and it must be repeated. It can be awkward to ask the consumer if they want to tip by turning the screen you're using.

Best POS for Small Businesses

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have been using this for 4 years and love it. I don't love paying fees but I would miss a lot of sales if I didn't have this system for my business I run by myself.

Pros

Fees are less than most places for in-person transactions. They have several devices you can obtain, such as the small chip reader and the mag-stripe reader which is what I use. I loved that I could use both with my cell phone so I did not need an iPad or big POS device. Having the ability to manually run payments and send invoices is awesome as well.

Cons

Fees are high when sending invoices or processing payments without the payment method present. There is no function to do auto-withdrawals easily.

Square Point of Sale

I use the Square for multiple businesses.

Reviewed 6 years ago

Overall, the Square Point of Sale is a low cost, easy to use, and very versatile software.

Pros

The Square is small, so it is easy to take anywhere. The Square can plug into any phone with a microphone jack, and is not specific to a brand or carrier. The app is free to download, and can be used with both mobile phones and tablets. Using the app can be as simple as just typing in the total amount, or amounts for specific items can be programmed into the app, so the prices are pulled up with a click of a button. The money is sent directly to your bank account.

Cons

The stripe reader seems to get worn out fairly quickly. The charge to swipe the credit card is fair, but if you have to type the card in due to the worn out reader, or a worn our card the fee is higher. I tend to do more over the phone charges with one business, and the fee can get pretty high.
