Interlace overview
What is Interlace?
Interlace is a card issuing platform delivered as an API. Development teams integrate once to issue cards, manage cardholders and apply spend controls programmatically, without assembling BIN sponsorship, a processor relationship and a compliance stack separately.
API and developer surface:
The API is REST-based and documented, with a sandbox environment available from signing and real-time webhooks for transaction events, limit changes and card status updates. Integration work is scoped in days rather than quarters: a typical API-integrated program moves from signed contract to live cards in 14 to 21 days.
Card Issuing:
Cards are created programmatically as virtual cards, issued instantly, or produced as physical cards in PVC, metal or ceramic across three customisation tiers. Cardholders are registered through the API with identity verification built into the flow. Cards organise into sub-accounts so balances, limits and reporting stay separated by end user, team or client. Full lifecycle operations (create, freeze, unfreeze, cancel) are available through both the API and an admin console. Issued cards tokenise into Apple Pay and Google Wallet.
Spend controls:
Controls are set per card or per cardholder: per-transaction, daily and monthly caps, velocity rules, merchant category code restrictions, and merchant allowlists or blocklists. Controls are enforced at authorisation rather than applied in reporting afterwards.
BIN infrastructure:
Programs run on Interlace's own 30+ card BINs, with intelligent routing across them rather than a single BIN. This removes the need for a client to negotiate its own card scheme sponsorship as a precondition of launching.
Program modes:
Two structures are available. Merchant-of-Record mode places more of the regulatory relationship with Interlace. Gateway mode leaves the customer relationship with the client, with Interlace providing the rails. The mode determines where compliance obligations sit and is agreed during scoping.
Compliance and security:
KYC (document and biometric verification), KYB for corporate cardholders, KYT transaction screening and AML monitoring are part of the issuing flow. Transaction monitoring runs in real time. Card data is handled under PCI DSS Level 1. Wallet infrastructure uses MPC key management rather than single-key custody. Interlace operates through licensed entities in Hong Kong (Money Service Operator and Trust or Company Service Provider), the United States (FinCEN Money Services Business) and Canada (FINTRAC Money Services Business).
Funding and settlement:
Programs fund in fiat or in stablecoins (USDC and USDT). Settlement covers 40+ currencies, and cards spend in 180+ countries. Platforms holding stablecoin balances can issue spending against them without routing users through a separate off-ramp.
AI agent cards:
Interlace issues dedicated cards to AI agents. Just-in-time funding holds the card at zero balance until an authorised transaction, capping exposure per transaction rather than per account. Agent cards support merchant allowlists, time-window restrictions, online-only enforcement and hard caps. Agents built on Claude, ChatGPT or in-house frameworks connect through an MCP integration without custom code.
No-code option:
Teams without engineering capacity can launch a branded program in three days on a ready-to-deploy platform (logo, brand colours, fee configuration, admin console, compliance included), then migrate to direct API integration later.
