Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Gridcog Energy Modelling Software overview
What is Gridcog Energy Modelling Software?
Gridcog Energy Modelling Software is a cloud-based B2B SaaS platform for simulating the physical and commercial performance of energy transition projects across 40+ markets. Covering the full project lifecycle from first concept through to investment decision, it models solar PV, wind, battery energy storage (BESS), fuel-powered generators, demand flexibility, EV charging infrastructure, and EV fleets in a single environment. The platform serves energy transition developers, independent power producers (IPPs), investors, energy majors, engineering firms, consultants, and large commercial and industrial energy users, from individual developers and small consultancies through to global enterprise teams.
Gridcog Energy Modelling Software is structured around a web-based Project Designer for configuring multi-market, multi-site, multi-asset projects with scenario-based assessments, and a Portfolio Mode for managing hundreds of sites simultaneously using clone-across-sites and save-across-scenarios tools. At its core, a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) simulation and optimisation engine co-optimises the full revenue stack across energy and ancillary markets in a single solve, dispatching assets on price forecasts and settling cashflows on actual prices to avoid perfect-foresight bias. A billing-grade tariff engine covers wholesale, ancillary, balancing, capacity, and certificate markets, and supports PPAs, CfDs, subsidies, tolling, swaps, revenue shares, and merchant exposure. Multi-stakeholder cashflow modelling produces separate cashflow profiles for developer, owner, optimiser, and offtaker within one model. Grid constraint modelling incorporates ramp rates, export and import limits, flexible connection agreements, and AC/DC configurations directly into dispatch optimisation. Battery modelling covers degradation, round-trip efficiency, depth of discharge, warranty impacts, repowering scenarios, and market-specific bid rules. Built-in global solar irradiance and wind resource data are included, with integration support for PVSyst and Helioscope outputs. Uncertainty modelling applies statistically rigorous variability to site loads and intermittent generation, and incorporates forecast error into dispatch optimisation. Emissions tracking supports GHG Protocol Scope 2 calculations, 24x7 Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) accounting, and interval-level marginal and average emissions factors.
Results are delivered at 5-minute resolution, with interval-level energy flows, cashflow and IRR outputs, downloadable reports, and interactive dashboards. Multi-user access with flexible permissions, version tracking, and in-platform project chat with energy market experts supports team collaboration and bankable outputs for lenders and investment committees. Target industries include utility-scale renewable energy development, BESS, behind-the-meter solutions, e-mobility and EV fleet electrification, virtual power plants (VPPs), microgrids, commercial and industrial energy, real estate and property portfolios, logistics and fleet depots, public sector decarbonisation, and energy technology businesses.
