ModernMES is a manufacturing execution system (MES) built for job shops, mold and die makers, machine builders, and small to mid-sized factories operating on a make-to-order or project basis. Deployed as a cloud-based SaaS or self-hosted on-premises solution, ModernMES replaces paper travelers, spreadsheets, and whiteboards with a browser-based platform accessible on tablets, shop-floor PCs, and phones. The on-premises option supports air-gapped networks, keeps all production data inside the facility, and installs with a single command on a Linux server under a server-bound license.

Work orders and projects are broken into parts and routing steps, each carrying estimated and actual times, status, and project completion percentage on a single screen. Operators sign in by badge scan or code, then scan a barcode or QR code to select a job and record start, pause, or finish events on the spot. A live shop floor view shows which job is running on which machine, who is operating it, and which machines are idle, with per-group TV boards available. Deadline feasibility cards compare remaining work against resource group capacity up to the due date, identify the bottleneck, and project a finish date, surfacing capacity problems before assembly day. Downtime reasons are captured at every job stop, and reports covering production status, workload, plan-versus-actual, and operator hours are exportable to Excel. Quality inspection results (first-piece, in-process, and final) and scrap records by defect type with optional photos are stored on the work order. Maintenance plans (daily through yearly) generate work orders automatically when due, and breakdown repairs are logged in the same system. Recorded operation times feed nightly recalculation of median times per operation, which are used to suggest routing times for new jobs and flag plan inconsistencies. ERP integration covers Logo, Mikro, Netsis, DIA, Parasut, SAP Business One, SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and Odoo, with a generic JSON/REST connection for other systems. Additional capabilities include lot traceability, product passport with energy and CO2 estimates, machine signal ingestion over HTTP or MQTT, and quote pricing derived from recorded operation times.
