Station Boss overview
What is Station Boss?
Station Boss is a cloud based fire department records management system that consolidates incident reporting, dispatch operations, personnel management and administrative workflows into a single integrated platform. The software serves career fire departments, volunteer fire departments, combination departments, fire stations, firehouses and rescue squads across the United States. The platform addresses the operational complexity of managing NERIS compliant incident reporting, response coordination, training records, equipment tracking, inspections and personnel scheduling within one unified system. Station Boss replaces the need for disconnected spreadsheets, paper forms and multiple standalone applications that traditionally fragment fire department operations.
The platform includes incident reporting functionality with NERIS ready data validation, real time field mapping to NERIS specifications and submission ready export capabilities aligned with the National Emergency Response Information System standards. The dispatch console delivers push notifications to department members with call type, address, map links and preplan data while tracking response status before apparatus deployment. Personnel management features encompass certification tracking, training hour logging, continuing education credit management, scheduling for mixed staffing models, availability tracking and payroll administration. Equipment tracking capabilities monitor apparatus, self contained breathing apparatus, hose, ladders and other assets with automated inspection schedules, maintenance history records and NFPA compliance reminder notifications. The training records module logs training hours, attaches digital certificates, tracks expiration dates, generates ISO ready reports and provides automatic alerts for upcoming certification renewals. Preplan management functionality stores digital building layouts, hydrant locations, hazardous materials data and key contact information accessible on any device during response with offline support for certain modules. Additional operational modules include inspection management, financial administration, document storage, permit tracking, apparatus status monitoring, station display boards, website builder tools and custom report generation. The platform supports mobile workflows through browser access on any device with offline data entry that automatically synchronizes when connectivity is restored.
Implementation is supported by a streamlined account setup process that can be completed quickly once documentation is provided, with onboarding assistance for station configuration, apparatus setup and personnel data entry. Data migration services are available for the transfer of historical records from legacy systems and some modules support direct import functionality. The platform maintains high availability and has processed over one million seven hundred thousand incident reports across a customer base of more than three thousand fire departments. The platform includes account management support and integrates with public safety technology partners to connect dispatch systems, alert notifications, billing workflows and other operational tools.
Station Boss was designed from inception to align with NERIS requirements rather than being retrofitted from legacy systems. The software accommodates the distinct operational needs of volunteer departments through simplified reporting interfaces for members and comprehensive NERIS ready records for officers. Career departments benefit from connected daily operations that link response records, inspections, staffing, equipment management and reporting across shifts. Combination departments can manage paid and volunteer workflows simultaneously without fragmenting scheduling, reporting, training and communication processes across separate systems.
