Share of Searching overview
What is Share of Searching?
Share of Searching - at https://www.shareofsearching.com - developed by Croft Analytics, is a tool that generates charts showing trends for entered search terms that can be filtered by country, region within a country, category, and date period. Chart search trends in Google and YouTube search volumes and % share of search lists of search terms.
Users can generate charts showing Google search interest trends for entered brands or topics in any country or worldwide. Businesses can access daily trends in search volumes and % share of search for any list across multiple brands or topics in any country. It allows teams to view the monthly volume of Google searches and % share of search for up to 100 brands/topics at a time in any country. It includes seasonality heatmap functionality.
Share of Searching enables users to access year-on-year comparisons of search volume and % share of search for a search term across multiple years. Teams can gain insights into search trends for related terms, including terms that people enter when searching for a brand/topic in any country. Teams can view animated % share of search for brands annually over the last four years. It includes a heatmap showing seasonality of search volumes for search terms.
Using Share of Searching, businesses can save/retrieve search criteria as well as export charts and data to Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. It offers custom reports, allowing users to schedule updated CSV files by email every month.
Key benefits of using Share of Searching
• Marketers can discover % share of search trends for all brands in their categories and explore trends for other terms such as events, influencers, sports teams, topics, companies etc.
• While purchase interest searching varies by category, in many there is a close and often predictive relationship between a brand’s share of category search and its market share. The greater the level of search interest that is part of the consumer purchase process, the higher the predictive link from search to sales. For example, share of search for car brands can be used to predict new car sales, with a lag from searching to sales of up to three months. This is also the case in many other categories, for example: financial services, airlines, apparel, beauty, electronic goods, healthcare, movies, travel, telecoms, retail, and utilities.
• Share of Searching includes a ‘Similar Terms’ module where users can enter a single search term to view search interest volume and % share of search trends for terms related to or associated with (as determined by Google) the search term. Users can select a country to source the similar terms and search interest trends from Google. Knowing relative levels of search, and trend in interest for related terms is key for discovering which terms are more important than others. Share of Searching provides this information, delivering relative search volumes and trends over time for similar/related search terms. These trend data can be charted by country and by date period back four years.
• Users can create custom reports and select to receive automated emails of reports, with updated data, each month. Each report delivers search volumes and % share of search by month for defined search terms for a selected country and period (e.g. last 6 months, last 12 months etc.). Reports can include up to 100 search terms per report.
