Pros

Super easy editing functions and simple design structure makes it one of a kind. Having the app made it super easy to scan stuff in and convert it to a PDF for work.
It has great editing features and the printing quality features are superb. It also has an option to save as pdf file if you are printing any word/browser files into pdf.
It loads fast and let's me print and save with ease. Very important tool for my buiensess to help me view invoices and contracts.

Pros

The editing features are fairly simple to use and the secured signature features are wonderful.
I have been using Nuance for over 3 years now. I have liked there software and have always received great customer service.
Very cost effective and user friendly. Love this product and has drastically cut overall business costs.

Cons

Doesn’t always function if I’m not the administrator and I can hardly understand the verbiage or wording of it. It’s annoying to use and hate using software that require Abode.
Another problem we have is when the product files get corrupted (and we don't know why).
Many features are not available without upgrading to more expensive versions - my biggest complaint is the lack of editing available in this version.

Cons

It is very hard to find what you are looking for. Additionally, it was frustrating at first since the software did not seem compatible.
My only complaint about this software is that it is slow compared to Adobe and BlueBeam, especially for printing.
We now have two perpetual licenses that we can’t use and we're out $358. Ll take my business elsewhere.

Premiere PDF Product

Reviewed 5 years ago

I recently wondered if I can export a PDF into a Power point so I can easily remove the text from a PDF, and I found out there was a one button click for that, saving me at least 30 minutes of copy-pasting.

Pros

Everytime I ask myself if I can automate a process with a PDF and I check Acrobat Reader DC, I find out there is already an option.

Cons

I can't possibly think of something that is bad with this software, it just does everything you would ever need to PDFs and more.

PDF viewer.. Still need?

Reviewed 4 years ago

There is for sure some different with a dedicated PDF viewer but unfortunately for most users, this is no longer needed.

Pros

PDF is not doubt the best way to share documents preserving the format. It is definitely the most widely used document format, even ahead of Microsoft Word. A PDF viewer of some kind is for sure needed for everyone. If you are serious user, Adobe Acrobat Reader is no doubt the best PDF viewer.

Cons

Adobe Acrobat Reader was a must have even back in 5 years also. However, with both Chrome, Microsoft Edge or other browser with build in PDF reader built-in, the need of a standalone PDF viewer is diminishing. For most users, viewing PDF within browser is less time consuming and require less processor power.

Adobe Reader DC Streamlines Quick Opening of PDFs

Reviewed 4 years ago

I can't really remember life without it. It has been a great tool for something that is very common in everday office life, PDFs are still the standard for locked documents.

Pros

I like that it is not as clunky as Adobe Acrobat when I just need to view a PDF, which is typically the default. Acrobat is for more power-user/editor functions. This makes it quick and easy to get a PDF open right away.

Cons

I was confused at first because mine was actually called "Adobe Reader DC Touch" even though I don't have a touch screen. I think for Windows, the touch version works whether you have a touchscreen or not.

More features than the free version

Reviewed 4 years ago

The most powerful PDF editor I’ve used. The power to make fillable forms is amazing and will help accelerate your company to the modern day of you don’t already have electric forms.

Pros

Our industry is very competitive, so the ability to lock PDFs is highly valued. Preparing multi page documents for clients is much easier than the archaic way of scanning them all at once. In addition to being much more professional, you’ll save time and paper.

Cons

Some features are organized in a way that takes a while to get use to. If you use any other Adobe products you may be familiar with how their menus aren’t seamless across each and require you to relearn them in each individual program. Same with quick key shortcuts.

A very good reader for PDF files, very intuitive for windows users.

Reviewed 6 years ago

I work in the technical maintenance field, in cars, industrial equipments, power generation, etc. so, in my work we get a lot of information like users manuals, repair manuals, etc in PDF files.

Pros

what i most like is that it's the "standard" in pc for reading documents, it's very easy to use, charges very fast even in old pc's like mine! even though it runs kinda slow when you opens large documents, it also allows you to do the basics of document management that we are used to do everyday. It also allows to quickly navigate thru all the document, very important if it's very large.

Cons

It charges fast when you open the software but the pc tends to slow down a little bit especially in large documents. Constants updates.

Positive. I rely on it so routinely, that it has become a habit, rather than a conscious decision to use.

Pros

Ease of use, power to come up with precisely the end result PDF I want, intuitive process. It makes my life easier, especially with mandatory E-filing in Illinois (requiring PDFs)

Cons

At first, all the choices seemed intimidating. When I started to play around with it, the app became extremely welcome, especially for a sole practitioner. But the initial curve seemed steep. For about one day.

I obtained a lot of benefits because in many occasions I need to change the format from pdf to power point or any other and I was allowed to do it, besides their text tools are incredible.

Pros

the interface is simple, it has many functions, it is also free of advertisements, it allows you to edit, download and convert in other formats, without counting that you can install it on your mobile phone.

Cons

some of its functionalities can not be used in a free version, which represents a disadvantage for those who do not have compatible systems with the tool and in some cases requests many updates in a row or places the slow equipment.

Adobe Acrobat is the best solution for pdf generation and editing.

Reviewed 6 years ago

Acrobat allows me to rapidly manipulate and create PDF documents. Since much of my work requires documents that cannot readily be edited, PDFs add in an additional layer of comfort than an accidental deletion does not occur.

Pros

I enjoy the power Acrobat brings to pdf processing. I routinely deal with pdf documents and having the ability to edit and manipulate them on the fly is incredibly valuable. I enjoy the combine, edit, and signature features the most. Creating forms is also something much easier done than in Word.

Cons

My only complaint is occasionally the drag and drop feature for combining pdfs doesn't work correctly and I have to relaunch the software.

The best PDF document viewer

Reviewed 6 years ago

The best ever PDF viewer which require some more features to be added.

Pros

The adobe Adrobat Reader can be used for viewing, printing and commenting on PDF documents. Further, it can be connected to the cloud and can be accessed across multiple devices anytime. It supports almost all type of PDF content such as forms and multimedia. It is lightweight and does not require large processing power or the memory.

Cons

The file conversion from PDF to word and word to PDF requires a subscription whilst other tools provide it for free. Searching on PDF document while typing is not available and requires to hit the enter and it is time-consuming.

View PDF s

Reviewed 5 years ago

It is a good software provides with the most needed features in viewing PDF s.

Pros

This software can be used to view PDF s. For example eBooks downloaded from the web can be easily viewed. The PDF s can be highlighted to show important phrases. A search option is there to search word or phrases we need throughout the PDF.The pages can be skipped in viewing a PDF by simply typing the needed page number. The PDF it self cannot be edited. However the area needed can be copied and pasted in Microsoft Word. Then the copied content can be edited. The word document created on Microsoft Word and Power Point can be converted to PDF too.

Cons

It is hard to edit content in this software itself. When content from PDF is copied to Microsoft Word fonts and alignments change.

Not the easiest document creating software, but definitely the most organized one.

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have been using acrobat reading and acrobat pro for a long time now, even before I started working. What is most appealing to me from this program is that in my opinion it is the best pdf reader in the market, which is also free! However, I also bought acrobat pro and it has been remarkably useful. The ability to create, edit and modify PDFs has been paramount in my professional and personal life. We...

Pros

Allows me to create documents that look the same in everyone's computers, unlike Microsoft Word. Adobe Acrobat also allows electronic signatures to validate documents without the need of a physical signature, which can be very handy and convenient.

Cons

Document editing and creation in general is very wonky, but that doesn't change the immense power and potential this software has. It still creates documents that are more organized than others and its pdf reader characteristic is rival to none.

The gold standard for PDF creation and use

Reviewed 4 years ago

I use Acrobat Reader DC almost every day. PDFs are an important part of any business in the digital age. Acrobat gives you so many features and options not available in other PDF software. It is truly the gold standard.

Pros

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is the best PDF software available. The software unlocks all the features needed to work with PDFs successfully, such as the ability to convert Word and Excel documents to PDF, edit PDFs, compress PDFs to smaller sizes, split PDFs, etc. I have used Acrobat for years and love the power it gives you over documents for business.

Cons

The biggest con is that Adobe requires a monthly subscription to the software vs. a one time payment. The monthly payments can add up quickly if you don't use the software very often.

It is not the same as Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Acrobat is easier in several vital functions (like merging documents). Also, Kofax is slow to load when viewing only a document.

Functions names are not similar to Adobe and therefore the learning curve is taking longer; also, no formal training materials available other than YouTube and the instructional videos available for the most part are old and/or outdated

Enterprise Level All-In-One PDF

Reviewed 5 years ago

Our office was moving to go paperless and the use of Nuance has accelerated the change for admin workers.

Pros

Overall this program provides the necessary features for our legal team to create, edit, and manage PDFs. Features include - creating PDFs, in-line editing, converting, combining, and a sleek "office" style ribbon. Some great new features for Advanced 3 include - real-time collaboration and tabbed viewing.

Cons

OCR features are not as strong as Adobe Acrobat and some minor set back in the conversion of documents.

Good Acrobat Pro Substitute

Reviewed 4 years ago

Document conversion (both to and from PDF) is so simple with this product. It is highly accurate. Form creation is simple and the Bates numbering is fantastic!

Pros

This product is almost as good as Acrobat Pro for the normal user, but it is not quite as intuitive. Often there is a need in our business to Bates number documents, so that knocked out a lot of the competitors. For frequently used, or hard to find functions, the quick access toolbar is a must. The program integrates well with the MS programs we use. Cost is appropriate.

Cons

Power PDF Advanced crashes more than Adobe Acrobat Pro. Functions are not intuitively placed in the tabs. Help is often a waste of time and should be easier and more simple. Indexer is not as fast as Acrobat.

Works like adobe acrobat dc

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Has the same functionality as adobe acrobat dc, where you can edit the formatting of a converted pdf document. Easy to use.

Cons

That it doesn’t have the ability to do more modifications to a document. Unable to link references within the document which is what I need to do for most of my documents.

Vendor response

Hi Ana-Liza, Thank you for the review and feedback! If you're trying to create links/bookmarks to specific locations within your PDF documents, you can do so with the Bookmark feature which is found on the left sidebar menu (the icon is a page with a ribbon/bookmark on it). After you've created your bookmarks, you can also choose to create a Table of Contents page from them.

Not as great

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Got to accept, quality comes with a price. We switch from Acrobat PDF to Nuance PDF to save cost. Good for the price paid.

Cons

Not as great as Adobe PDF. Slow and some features are taken away. Loads slow and quality is not as great as Acrobat PDF.

Affordability with functionality

Reviewed 6 years ago

Very positive.

Pros

Cost: Significant savings over Acrobat Pro when considered enterprise wide. Functionality: All the bells and whistles of Acrobat Pro including document compression, redaction, compare, etc. We didn't find any functional deficiencies in Nuance Power PDF Advanced. Ease of use: Because of cost savings, we were able to roll this product out to many more users. Most of them were using the product with...

Cons

It wasn't a complete replacement for Adobe. Some applications were specifically looking for Adobe to open PDFs and we could not find a reliable way to redirect the Adobe call to Nuance. In those situations, Adobe reader had to be installed on the desktop. But Nuance could also be installed for document manipulation.

Does everything you wish Acrobat did

Reviewed 6 years ago

PDF formatting and edition has never been easier.

Pros

This was our first option after our Adobe licenses ran out, we needed something that was more powerful than Acrobat but with more flexibility. Nuance was it.

Cons

The UI feels kind of cheap but you get used to it.

A Really Good Product

Reviewed a year ago
Pros

Ease of use and feature rich. Price point is excellent when compared to Adobe Acrobat. We also tried Soda PDF Desktop 14 which was not as powerful.

Cons

Editing function difficult to use. There are instances where a fillable form needs editing and Koufax has trouble.

Great Adobe replacement

Reviewed 6 years ago

Easy to deploy, mostly easy to use, and affordable. Can't ask for more than that.

Pros

Integrates with iManage Worksite very well.

Cons

Doesn't do great with the MS Surface Pen. It's ok, but not great. A lot of our users keep Adobe Reader around just for the Pen.

Purchased Nuance (Kofax Power PDF) after comparison to Acrobat Adobe

Reviewed 2 years ago

Very difficult to get customer support. Impossible to reach anyone by telephone - only e-mail, so you're at the mercy of the person on the other end. Others in my company who utilize more functions refused to switch from Acrobat Adobe; they were smart. I will be purchasing Acrobat Adobe Pro today and removing Kofax Power PDF from my computer. In the end, I spent more money by purchasing this product.

Pros

Has all the features I needed at a much lower cost (at the time.)

Cons

It seemed that every time I had a windows update I would get error messages when using Kofax. (Had other error messages over the past couple of years, too. ) Historically I was able to get support but apparently, since I purchased this through my IT guy, now they will not help me. Even after sending them the receipt and product key. (And I used to have a login for their website.)

Great PDF program

Overall great tool for viewing and editing PDF documents.

Pros

Superior to Adobe Acrobat for converting PDF files to word, excel, edit, etc. Nuance Power PDF is extremely easy to use and easy to learn and get everyone trained on.

Cons

The only thing that I have come across is at times it can run a bit slow but not sure that isn't on our end.

PDF Editing, Power in your hand!

Reviewed 5 years ago

Before we got this software it was not an easy task to edit pdf, or add few lines in some documents, But with the help of this software we are able to do so. It has helped to edit pdf sheets in order to extract few pages or add many files into one.

Pros

This is a paid software which works most similar to adobe reader pro, But has a little less feature. It is one of the best pdf editing software with respect to cost and features.

Cons

The application says it can convert any pdf to word or excel or many format but it doesn't work efficiently. Some times pdf to word conversion result in a full size image on word.

Adobe Acrobat Replacement

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

The switch from Adobe Acrobat to Nuance took some getting used to, but ultimately I'm able to use all the same functionality for a lower price. I use Nuance daily for splitting, combining, editing, creating editable forms, and more. You're able to highlight, add text, and use stamps or signatures. As far as I can tell it's completely comparable to Acrobat.

Cons

The initial set up and learning where certain functions or buttons were located.
