Simple and used by everyone however is feeling very old now. Does all of the basic well enough.
Old and not moved forward - competitors like Airtable are doing things better, faster and more interestingly.

There are other cheaper tools, Sheets, Airtable, etc... but none of them do as much as Excel. The only other service I would recommend would be Airtable but that's when you have a specific need more of a relational database.
Can't add attachments to cell's the way Airtable can. Would be great if they brought in those capabilities.

My familiarity with Excel makes this my go-to software for when I need to create documents that use formulas. Getting the software to do the function that I want is easier compared to competing products due to its longevity and not changing how things are done
Visually, produced documents don't look as good or as visually appealing as ones made AirTable or Apple Numbers

For all the pretenders – Google Sheets, Airtable, etc. – I always turn to Excel for the tough stuff.
It's Excel. You can make it do pretty much anything you want, provided you've invested the time in learning the skills. Worst case, Google has an answer for pretty much any Excel query or need.
There's a stigma to Excel, particularly for creatives. That can make sharing workbooks and sheets difficult outside of certain departments. Likewise, the learning curve is STEEP for advanced functionality.

Pretty good and is my goto whenever I have serious business. not the best on my eyes. For that, i use Airtable and the such
Excel is really the original in terms of sheets. Its design is not the best which is why there are so many alternative such as AirTable and the like popping up. However, i have seen Excel try to improve upon this and increase its design attraction. I love that this platform is the "pro" version of all those toys like Airtable with those colors. When Im on excel, I feel productive instead as if Im doing a school project with RGB
Admittedly, the platform seems to change and confuse me. Especially with so many spreadsheet platforms and all being different in terms of where the buttons are, I do not like the placement of some Execel's buttons as they confuse me so much. Some shortcuts are not straight forward and I always have to research whenever I want to use another feature.

Long-time user of Excel, haven't found any other tool (including new entrants like Airtable) as helpful when it comes to core computation tasks.
Excel has always been the easiest way to manage and process numerical data. Google Sheets has been a recent alternative, but Excel remains the most powerful tool (i.e. custom formulas, shortcuts, acceptable data) in play, and should be installed on every computer.
Easier sharing, especially if the recipient is not integrated into the Microsoft ecosystem (e.g. no Microsoft / Office 365 acct).

It's definitely required for work and I like it, but i'm more excited for other tools like airtable and google sheets in the coming years
I really love getting into macros and optimizing my routine work for my job.
It's really hard to educate other people on all the features, and some of the most helpful utilities require too many steps when they could be buttons. Like transposing a table.

If I'm going to create a spreadsheet with complex formulas, I always choose Excel. While I might use Sheets or Airtable for simple shared databases, I trust that I can do anything I imagine with Excel.
While there are several other copycat products available, some for free, Excel is still the most feature-rich and easy-to-use application available for spreadsheets.
Though the price point is much fairer now, I guess I could complain that it isn't free. That being said, I still choose to purchase it through an Office365 subscription.

I try to avoid using Microsoft Excel as often as I can and go to something like Google Sheets, or better, Airtable. Google Sheets isn't perfect either, but there are so many things that Google has made very intuitive compared to Excel.
I like that a lot of people do use Excel and there are usually a lot of tutorials about it when I'm needing help with a certain equation, etc. It has a lot of capabilities and I know I have not come close to tapping its full potential.
I think Excel is very slow, especially compared to a solution like Google Sheets. Additionally, Sheets is much easier to use, more intuitive. Excel is often buggy, needs refreshing often (for the online version), is clunky and sluggish when trying to input data more quickly (even the local version is often slow).

I use Excel mostly for data tracking and budgets at a small non-profit. We used to use it for database management, as well, but are now switching over to other tools.
For any sort of accounting/budget/data tracking needs, Excel still has the best features for making complicated calculations simple. It's very helpful for tracking data and getting updated results without having to re-do all the calculations.
Excel is not good as a database, especially compared to newer options like Airtable. Without features like multiple selections in a single cell, Excel can quickly turn into a massive document where you have to scroll and scroll to see all your data.

Large data? Use Excel first. A tool most people I know can't live without.
Simple and easy to use. Responsive. Really feature heavy with filters, cell formatting and options, and FORMULAS! You can achieve a lot with only formulas. Easy to create and beautiful graphs. Whole world of options when include its VBA scripting language.
No collaboration. Can be slow for big documents. Biggest con I see (aside of simple collaboration) is the lack of integration and automation you can accomplish with Excel - in the world of interconnected apps and tools, Excel is heavily lacking behind others like Google Sheets or Airtable.

- works on every device I have - has the most robust system of the spreadsheet apps, not as freeform as Airtable but I find it much easier to use - It's reliable - Heavy on the features - I use it to do a cost analysis for venues, and then immediately after to do a staff list for an event, manage students, etc.
- That there's no way to have more than one person work on a file at the same time - Even though I've used it for years, I still think the UX is ugly

Well, it is office. Most of the time it works, sometimes it fails. It is a business standard- which means it had purpose and use once. I just think they dont innovate as much as they could.
It is quite helpful, and has been around for a while. I get a monthly Microsoft 365 subscription, which also features excel.
Well- if a software has been around for so long, and still doesnt have features that even newer software has (like for example airtable- which is an agile mixture between trello and excel)- it makes me worry for product development. You could at least add a functionality that adds pictures to a sheet. like access has it if i remember correctly (haven't used access for 10 years or so)

Very positive! Has a limited use case but the beautiful colors and inter-team view system make it useful and appealing for storing certain data.
Airtable helped information of all types for my team to organize and view collaboratively.
I wish there were more features similar to Microsoft Excel. I found myself having to copy and paste info into excel to do basic math functions while crunching numbers.

Imagine using Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets but with a simple user interface, great features, and the best part - great level of 3rd party integrations are possible.
User-friendly interface! Super easy to collaborate with the team and also the third-party applications. Their free plan is genuinely good and comprehensive!
Their paid plan is a touch expensive, once you surpass the free 1,000 entries per database.

AirTable features many of same functions as Microsoft excel. Can input formulas and similar features making it an extremely useful for data input.
Does have maximum amount of memory that can be used, can expand for more cost.

My overall experience with Airtable has been pretty good, I don't use it as much as most people but it's not bad.
- User friendly - Works with a lot of other services - Great way to manage information - Great templates to choose from
- It can be a little hard to figure out at first - communication options are limited - It really doesn't support the Microsoft Excel formatting

Airtable has been amazing to use working with my clients and keeping them up to do on current projects and being able to attach visual aspects to the project. That has made my clients very happy!
Airtable is amazing for project management and sharing work with other team members. The extra check boxes for adding documents or messaging, charts, etc. just makes this the best software with keeping track of everything!
It's a little harder to figure everything out than a traditional Microsoft Excel sheet but once you get the hang of it, you'll never look back!

Airtable is so much like excel, but more intuitive and user friendly. I love that you can easily link tables, change colors for categorizing, and flow work with coworkers. The product is intuitive and it is much easier to create meaningful relationships between qualitative data than in excel
I have a hard time paying for something I know I can duplicate within Excel (which I have already paid for). While it is more intuitive, since our business is so small, it was too hard to justify paying for a monthly plan when we could create tables within our SharePoint Microsoft Excel.

Airtable is the best option to organize data tables, especially if what you want is to organize the information through Smartphone devices, which is quite surprising considering that it is normally uncomfortable to use spreadsheets on cell phones.
Working with fields within airtable databases is really easy. It also manages the tables very well, in the same way they can be used from Microsoft Excel. That is, it serves to manage spreadsheets in general.
There are several limitations in relation to the way in which artartable segments the information and shows it to us, especially in the organization of lists. It does not have so many collaborative functions, so despite granting access to the tables to third parties, good group support is not maintained.

I love Airtable. It takes the place of using the more primitive Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, which aren't a time saver option. Any software that is user-friendly and can be set up to automatically update records is a manager's dream!
Airtable is a powerful tool that all businesses should consider using, if they haven't discovered it yet. It's so simple to use, fully customizable, and offers a huge range of options for storing, editing, and managing content. As a project manager, I need a way to maintain and update records on the fly on a daily basis. This software offers a sustainable option to do that as our company's needs and goals scale into the future.
Nothing, this software is truly amazing. The possibilities are limitless.

Airtable got a minimal cool UI but it might take time to understand everything, it allows you to manage data just like a database but in something like Microsoft Excel but it can handle more data and it has more functionality.
The mobile app is so poor and doesn't have such functionality compared to the desktop app, and when copying/pasting data from a Excel sheet to an Airtable sheet, it doesn't look identical and there might be some things incorrect.

It's a better alternative to Microsoft Excel for processing large amounts of data on many situations. The ease with which we can create relationship between tables is brilliant, and it really helps to identify patterns and to manage data properly.
The lack of a simples mechanism to link Bases, that is really the deal breaker the prevents me from using airtable for so much more. As you use airtable more and more, you end up reaching a point where you feel the need to link different bases, and there are several convoluted workarounds to achieve this, at least partially, but it really goes against the ease of use and customization of the solution you experience up to that limitation, and it becomes a deal breaker for many use cases.

Overall Airtable is a good solution for people who wants to work with sheets but still have features like easy sharing and integration with multiple apps. Though it's great but not recommended hardcore sheet users as they would be more comfortable with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
I liked the fact that it's very close to an excel sheet but can perform multiple tasks like collaboration, sharing of tables via links and access the data using no-code ways. Also, the tables can be locked with passwords which is another benefit of it.
The user interface isn't the best as it's a web app and not an actual native application. Sometimes it becomes very hard to copy or move some data between cells.
