Pros

It is so powerful, and I know I'm barely scraping the surface of what all it's capable of. It is amazing for tracking progress, analyzing data, and staying organzied.
I like the ease of this software to input my numbers that have been acquired over the year and is a good reference to keep my numbers straight.
I would easily recommend it as it's perfect for kids in school, in the work place etc. All it's features are detailed and open doors for me to be as creative as I want to be.

Pros

I used this majority of my way in high school, college and now the post graduate work like. It’s so easy to navigate and I LOVE IT I share documents with my colleges ans co workers it’s amazing.
Super easy to use since it's just like Microsoft Office. Great if your device doesn't have Office and you need to use the same platforms.
I love how easy it is to use and how file sharing is super integrated. The quality for the cost of the product is super.

Cons

Some of the error messages are hard to decipher when using the software and the functions have confusing variables to put in at times.
The software cannot be readily integrated or harmonized with other information systems. The software is totally insensitive to human errors; it does not prompt the user when there is an error.
When there is a large amount of data entered into a spreadsheet it's inevitable to have trivial human mistakes made. Sometimes it's very difficult to find those mistakes later.

Cons

Some options are missing from it, but that is to be expected from a web-based app. The only thing I dislike is how hard it is to open the documents generated in Google Docs through other software.
The downside of this is that someone can edit the document as you are presenting and mess with your presentation or confuse your line of thoughts.
The icons are small and it's easy to accidentally press the wrong button or hit the wrong combination of keystrokes and change the menu into tiny icons with no explanations.

Excel Review

Reviewed 4 years ago

Used it for years now and I absolutely love it! Hopefully someday soon there will be a phone app to download!

Pros

I love how organized it keeps my data for my jobs. I work for a chiropractic office and it’s helpful for keeping track of numbers, collections, etc. I also have my own jewelry business and I swear by excel for it! If not for it, it would take me forever to keep track of my sales

Cons

I wish I could use it on my phone now too. I have excel but I also have google docs because I can use google docs on my phone.

Excel - Others emulate it, but few match it

Reviewed 5 years ago

Very happy with this product. Superior to Google Docs and LibreOffice.

Pros

Easy and simple to use for a wide variety of applications.

Cons

Excel is best used as an electronic spreadsheet. The application is also touted as being good for building database applications, but data base applications are not a strong suit for Excel. Its rather like using a small car for towing. You can do it, but... it's clunky and limited.

The experience cannot be matched even by competitor softwares like google docs or LibreOffice. Excel dominates.

Pros

Excel is one of the most inclusive suite with plenty of tools to get any work established. It has made the layman user enabled to link their data and easily filter, sort or automate through it without a steep learning curve

Cons

The pricing for individual needs to brought down since enterprises pay hefty prices. The advanced tools are difficult to navigate with.

Strength in Numbers

Reviewed 4 years ago

Personally, I've always gone to Excel for its simplicity to add and import information from many sources and quickly and easily tabulate and manipulate the data to suit my desired needs. It's just so simple to reference data collected, and display it in a graph that's easily digestible by any audience.

Pros

When it comes to understanding numbers, Microsoft Excel has been there from the beginning of spreadsheeting. It is extremely easy to tabulate information and visualise it through graphs. Even for beginners. The true power comes together when using formulas to truly crunch the numbers, Excel even comes with packaged with a suite of maths helpers to simplify how data is organised and manipulated. You can quickly bring together datasets, then even embed them into a Word Document which updates graphs as you make your changes, bringing the cleanest and most understandable documents from your home accounting to that important boardroom meeting.

Cons

It is true that Excel by far exceeds the offerings of competitors like Apple's Numbers or Libre/Open Office. For me personally, the only drawback is the portability of google docs. Though google docs most certainly is not as feature rich as Microsoft Excel

The defacto standard spreadsheet tool

Reviewed 4 years ago

The experience is good because it is the most feature rich tool in this class. Google docs has some nice features and user experience with collaboration, but as a standalone tool Excel wins.

Pros

Excel has always been the defacto standard for spreadsheets as long as I can remember. I have used it for a long time and am very used to it. I don't believe there are many other options out there. This is one of the oldest tools and the most feature rich. Since Microsoft has made the move to cloud, it is even better since you can access the application on any computer anywhere with internet just by logging in.

Cons

Even though Microsoft has moved to cloud, their software user experience is not on par with other providers such as Google Docs etc.

The legend of Microsoft Excel is around for a reason

Reviewed 5 years ago

Excel is nearly always open on our computers. From data sorting to a quick analysis, excel is the go-to anything number related at our company. We host our complicated inventory on a Read Only sheet updated daily, and it hasn't let us down yet.

Pros

It's great for beginners. It's great for advanced data wizards. You can create charts, and diagrams, and analyses, and tables, and automate processes, and plan out projects. You can plan out the future, or you could analyze the past. The software feels snappy and much more, "solid" than Google Docs, but obviously Google Docs is free.

Cons

The 32-bit version crashes when dealing with large amounts of data. Tab management can also be somewhat unwieldy. Other than that, as long as you yourself don't have to pay for it, it's the preferred analysis software.

Overall experience is very good.

Pros

Ease of use is the best thing about it. We just need internet access and that's it, no installations needed.

Cons

Sometimes if we import documents from other softwares (Microsoft excel, Microsoft Word), some configurations are lost and hard to recover
