Pros

Ve been using Hightail since day 1. I am very pleased with the quality and the ease of sending documents to customers that are too large to email.
Hightail has some really awesome customer service. Other than that, I feel there are other cloud storage and file sharing applications that are more superior.
I love the ease of use for me. I'm a freelance Creative Director so it lets me customize content for my different clients per space while keeping in all in one accessible location for me.

Pros

Used it multiple times to pay for travels and hotels is Asia, where the hotels don't have PayPal or accept credit cards. Super awesome service, and you feel secure from start to finish.
It’s really good to have transfer space of up to 2gig but also I like that quality of pictures and videos are not compromised. It’s very easy to use, you only need emails to transfer files.
WeTransfer is great for sharing files, and the best for sharing large-sized files. It is fast, reliable, easy to use, and has an amazing interface.

Cons

It is difficult to do a search on files having been sent without scrolling down the page. They also used to send out alerts if they had a problem but this has now stopped.
There are occasional problem when clients upload files to Hightail - Uplink. Ve had several clients complain that they aren't able to upload more than 7-8 jpgs at a time.
Lost one file due to the expiration date. Learned to leave my clients a little wiggle room to retrieve.

Cons

Only negative is that some companies have fire-walls that block WeTransfer links, preventing the files from being downloaded from their servers.
I am unable to think of anything negative about my experience with this software.
If for some reason I forget to download, I have to request it again. Taking that out would not have things to criticize.

    Very good

    Pros

Easy, fast, good customer support. Don't know why you are red highlighting this box and not letting me go to the next page.

    Cons

they can't accept it in China where we do most of our production. They make us use WeTransfer or Dropbox.

    Hightail

    Slower than Wetransfer

    Reviewed 5 years ago

This program used to be good, but now is so slow I can't even deal with it. The upload speeds are as if I have dial up. I mainly have an issue with any file that is bigger that 50mb. I use the desktop app, still slow, so then I started using wetransfer as a comparison. What would (450mb file) take 5 hours to upload on Hightail literally only took 19 minutes to upload with wetransfer, so obviously the problem isn't with me, it's with Hightail. Oh and if you tell hightail that the upload speeds are mindnumbingly slow, they tell you it's your fault... which would be true if it weren't for wetransfer showing me evidence to the contrary.

    Pros

They have unlimited storage on the cloud.

    Cons

Bad customer service, and horrific upload speeds. When your main job of your app is to upload files to the internet, and you can't do that quicker than it would be for me to travel by horse and buggy with a hard drive 30 miles, I'm pretty sure you're failing at what you offer.

    Hightail

Overall great feature set, could do with some functionality tweaking

    Reviewed a year ago

I manage the content for an educational video publisher, often delivering orders as well as managing videos to be uploaded onto the site. Hightail makes it easy to do everything I need to do in one place, as well as looking professional (more so than a wetransfer link in my opinion) when delivering orders.

    Pros

    - The ability to send large quantities of content - The ability for people to deliver large amounts of material to me without having to create an account - The ability to collaborate with remoters on creative projects

    Cons

    - Sometimes deliveries fail with no warning (the upload will stop at a certain 'time remaining') and I'll have to redo it. This means I have to remember exactly what was in the last batch etc. - You can't filter your received files by anything (date, user, type etc.) - You can't filter your sent items by the same. - Sometimes downloading large numbers of files at once doesn't work (maybe that's just an unzipping problem on my end?) - Sometimes people sending content via our uplink get confused and cannot access it, or try and create an account. Perhaps confusing user flow?

    Hightail

Good option for sharing large files

    Reviewed 7 months ago

HighTail allows me to send large files efficiently to clients or suppliers. Since I deal with artwork design and production each and every day I really need an safe, fast and effective way to share files whether they be large proofs or final files for print/web production. HighTail generally suits my needs.

    Pros

I like that I can share large files with my clients on a piece of software that lives on my computer rather than using an online service where I upload the file via a web browser. I feel it is a more secure process when using an app as opposed to using a service such as WeTransfer. I consider the free version to be a great tool that is less troublesome than dropbox.

    Cons

While I consider the free version to be a great tool, I do believe that the paid version is a bit on the expensive side for my level of use. I consistently use HighTail, but not enough to justify a monthly subscription. If I run into limits on what I can upload for free, I will then move to another free alternative that has less restritive file size limits such as WeTransfer.

    Hightail

    If it ain't broke...

    Reviewed a year ago
    Pros

One of the leading industry standard file transferring services so most folks are familiar with using it.

    Cons

I could be in the minority here but I long for the early days of HighTail / YouSendIt. Some companies are simply not content to do one thing and do it well and that unfortunately has happened to HighTail over time. Clunky interface, features that have very little use to try to bulk up the product. There was an elegant simplicity to using the site years ago and now it has become a bit of a slog. I prefer WeTransfer.

      Hightail

Nice service... but promising more than it can accomplish.

      Reviewed 6 years ago

This service would be just the perfect cloud service out there if it could sync your files to the cloud from any drive on your computer through its sync service. Google drive does it, Dropbox does it and many others.... Hightail offers the incredible plan promising unlimited storage space. But you only can sync files located on your operating system main drive (not external or backup drives). On...

      Pros

Clean interface Nice upload speed through the Hightail tracker app Nice download speed with the download link from the sending service Expiration date control of sent files and tracking about "by who" and "when" the file was downloaded.

      Cons

Unfair storage space offer (promising what they cannot accomplish). Only your main operating system drive can sync files to the cloud. Bad sync app not offering the functions that a sync app must have today. You can't preview files online easily.

      WeTransfer

      Works as you would expect

      Reviewed 2 years ago

      Worked fine. Nothing spectacular.

      Pros

Nothing spectacular with this or other file transfer solutions. You upload your file, send to friends or family, and they get a link to download the file. You cannot really go wrong with one of these solutions (hightail, wetransfer, etc.).

      Cons

There is an expiration date for files, but that can be expected for the free version. The expiration was long enough, I did not have to worry.
