It really has not brought me many benefits since they imposed it on me as an email at work. I much preferred the presentation and management that the hotmail had a few years ago.
The general presentation menu is quite friendly to the eye., as well as its versatility to be used in cell phones.
The tricky process associated with downloading attachments compared to emails such as gmail or firefox.

Our organization is based on Linux with end user using the same and we really don;t want to go MS Exchange option so we left with choices of Lotus Notes (Which is a very good yet expensive product), Novell groupwise and Zimbra. Having tested Zimbra around more than 10 years ago we choose this. It has the flexibility to provide mobile base, thick client and thin web base client. So it was good choice and we are quite satisfied with our decision back then
Its scale-able, robust, secure and low cost. Based on Postfix and other opensource packages it provides good emailing solution. All the included packages are thoroughly tested before included in release. With most of the world going to cloud for email for the organizations need low cost yet secure and scale-able on premise mailing solution Zimbra is a good option. It has very good Web base UI which is very easy to use. There is no performance issues. Visibility with logs is very good . Zimlets are very cool features you can add on
The support is a bit so so maybe because of change of so many owners of the company. The web ui can use skin option to make it look and feel like different email platform in the market, e.g. if someone is use to outlook or gmail ui then a them/skin could provide that

The features that gmail has developed over time have been very useful, such as autocompleting sentences, attachment check, promotional segregation. It integrates well with the rest of the google suite which is equally as useful for collaboration.
No cons, gmail to me has been the easiest email client comparatively.

I have loved Gmail overall. It is well-integrated into the Google collaboration suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.). The service has excellent security features, great spam detection, and is free to use, as long as you are willing to see some fairly non-obtrusive ads.
The best feature of Gmail is undoubtedly the search. Google-powered search results inside your inbox add a ton of value. I use Gmail for personal use, used it as a student, and have purchased it for our family's non-profit. My current employer uses Outlook and O365. If you want to look for anything - an attachment, an email with a particular subject, you are all set in Gmail. In Outlook - good luck finding anything. And it will give you the garbage results after a significant wait. Gmail can also keep you organized if you allow integration with Google's assistant and other services (calendar, meet, voice, etc).
This is not really a con, but it's not Gmail's strength: the service is not meant for use offline. You can add it to Outlook, but you'll lose most of it's online features. Online, you don't get things like mail-merge, or... as it may be obvious, offline access to your messages. I am almost always online, and my recent messages are downloaded to the mobile client.

Gmail is still a heavy hitter when compared with other email software, and at times is the clear favorite. But it is lacking in terms of innovation which may harm its core functionality in firms like ours.
I, like many others at my firm, are frequent Gmail users. We have used Gmail as our primary server mail for years. Its how we communicate with clients and staff. Although Gmail will forever be apart of our firm's blood and system, and its features will forever be iconic and easy to use. Sending and receiving mail is easier on Gmail than it is on most email platforms, especially Yahoo and Aol.
Gmail is highly lacking in innovation on the collaboration side, especially for internal collaboration. Other platforms like Slack and Trello are proving to be far more useful than the traditional back and fourth sending mechanism offered by Gmail.

I've used gmail for many years and have never been let down. WIth a huge volume of email, Google makes it very easy for me to find specific items quickly.
It's very intuitive. Super simple to setup and configure.
No complaints thus far. I use the full Google suite.

Overwhelmingly positive. I'm used Gmail for years on my personal account and have been using it for business purposes the past couple of years too.
Free, extremely intuitive, gets you access to the G-Suite which is a great free alternative to the Microsoft suite of products.
Honestly, nothing. It's free, what more could you want!

G Suite is the market leader, and in surveys at multiple companies, employees have overwhelmingly preferred G Suite to alternatives (chiefly Office 365).
Support can be difficult. It typically requires a few searches through help articles and public forums. They have the option to pay for phone support, but we haven't had to use it.

our work uses G-Suite with Gmail and it works great
For a free email service, Gmail is the gold standard - lots of features, and seamlessly connects with other Google products
Nothing really to dislike about the software - once you exceed 15 GB of email storage, you're asked to pay $20/year to increase your storage to 100 GB which is still reasonable

When incorporating the Google Suite, mail is an option worth using.
The best feature of this software is that when you log into your Google account, you automatically log into your mail account as well. Using Google Chrome, the app is easily available through the apps icon on the menu bar.
The search feature requires an exact match when looking for a specific email, making search a bit difficult when you only remember part of the senders address.

Use it for work and personal. Use google suite as well.
Easy to use. Great for work. Google Hangouts is pretty good too and everything is integrated with other Google products.
Sometimes it's annoying to switch between my personal account and my professional one when using other products even if it is in a google email.

We used G-mail in G-Suite to set up our company email. Then we used outlook for users to manage their email. Managing the email accounts, we use the G-suite Admin.
Easy to use and setup. Accessible on desktop and phone app. If you don't have outlook on your desktop, you can just use the g-mail at google.com.
Cannot setup rules to manage incoming mail. For personal use, this is just fine, but for corporate, wherein you need to manage different incoming mails or even setup an auto reply or out-of-office schedule, it is a must. Workaround is to set up g-mail account in outlook .

1) Easily integrate with other G Suite apps such as Drive, Sheets, Docs. 2) Easily integrated with MS Outlook Desktop Client through G Suite Sync for Microsoft Outlook.
1) Filters for forwarding don't support more than 1 email address at a time, so you have to create a new filter just to forward to another email ID. 2) HTML rendering is completely different from MS Outlook. This often wreaks havoc in formatting for HTML text emails. Makes a neatly composed email look like trash. Further, any content from an MS Application pasted into Gmail, leads to a formatting catastrophe. 3) Very plain user interface. 4) Important, official emails often get miscategorized as Updates or Promotions and may get skipped if the recipient isn't vigilant enough!

Overall Gmail is great and even better with the office suite of tools.
I have used Gmail since its inception and it's hard to beat the value it offers. It's free, easy to use and accessible o all of your devices.
The one thing I don't like is that some emails seem to magically disappear from my inbox causing to frantically search for them when I need them.

I have loved using Gmail, it makes it easier to communicate with classmates and use.
I love that it is so user friendly. I love that you can easily categorize things and you can customize it to make you feel more you.
G-suites can be annoying sometimes when you are sending things outside of your suite.

It'd be unfair to judge g-mail without mentioning g-suite, which offers a variety of services that come along with the e-mail platform and seamlessly integrating them into the interface itself, which makes them easily accessible. That being said, Gmail comes with a myriad of additional means of communication with the standard email system; video chatting, sharing files, and scheduling are all tasks that are made fluid in this email service.
Integration in various products both inside and outside the g-suite.
Lacking in terms of email sorting and management.

Great, simple interface that precludes the need to even use an email application many times. Easy to understand and use. Powerful filters, all of which run all the time regardless if your computer is on or email client is running. Free, and simple to integrate with many services online or set up in any email client. Generous amount of free storage which can also be upgraded using a Google Drive subscription. Powerful routing using special characters in the email address (such as username+something@gmail.com)
No unified user management interface for teams unless you upgrade to G Suite, which is then no longer free.

Gmail works well for companies that rely on Gmail to retrieve company emails using G-Suite.
Gmail is a reliable email client. It's included in Google's suite of products and integrates well with other Google apps. Gmail filters spam mail well without creating a filter. Scheduling emails are easy.
Searching for keywords in an email can be a problem sometimes. Gmail doesn't find the email. Logging into Gmail using a single sign-on app often is an issue or retrieving emails using a mail collector. It can work well for months, and then it stops working. I know this is a security feature, but if an IP address or any other identifying factor hasn't changed, I can't understand why it stops working.

Overall I would consider it serviceable. Wouldn't rely on it for business' that require extensive and controlled email management and enviorments.
It's free, easy to use and get's the job done with basic tools Great for basic email comunication and integration
Very little in the way of business tools unless you upgrade to the business suite Bad filtering and email management
