MeshInspector overview

What is MeshInspector?

MeshInspector is cross-platform 3D processing software for engineers, service bureaus, dental labs, and scanning professionals working with meshes, point clouds, scan data, and CAD files. It helps teams move from raw scans to accurate, watertight, production-ready 3D models for printing, inspection, simulation, and manufacturing.

Users can import data from LiDAR, laser scanners, structured-light systems, photogrammetry, STEP files, and common mesh and point-cloud formats such as STL, OBJ, PLY, E57, LAS, and LAZ. MeshInspector maintains correct units and axes during conversion and export, with deviation reporting to validate results.

MeshInspector provides tools to reduce noise, remove outliers, simplify point clouds, align and merge multiple scans, and convert raw point clouds into watertight meshes using triangulation, fusion, and terrain-optimized workflows.

Mesh editing and repair tools help detect and correct holes, self-intersections, thin walls, and other geometry defects. Users can also remesh, decimate, segment, reposition, engrave, label, and prepare models for downstream production.

For inspection and quality assurance, MeshInspector includes measurements, tolerance controls, deviation maps, and QA reports. These tools help teams verify geometry accuracy with measurable results instead of relying only on visual checks.

Dental workflows support CBCT visualization, density-based isolation, bone-mesh extraction, retainer preparation, scan cleanup, model repair, base creation, and patient labeling.

MeshInspector is built to handle large datasets locally, including 10–50M+ triangle meshes, 50M–100M+ point clouds, and large CBCT datasets.

Repetitive tasks can be automated with in-app Python. Through MCP, AI agents and compatible assistants can drive MeshInspector as part of automated processing pipelines.

MeshInspector runs natively on Windows, macOS, and Linux and is also available on the web.

MeshInspector is powered by MeshLib SDK.
