There are a few differences between Pylon Solar Design Software and other competitors like Aurora Solar, Helioscope, OpenSolar, and SolarPlus.

Pylon's Solar Design Studio is a flat 2D surface, unlike other software which rotate along a 3D axis and make it very time-consuming and difficult to use, especially on touch devices like iPads.

A solar designer can calculate the dimensions of nearby objects using the length of their shadows and the azimuth of the sun at the time it was taken. They simply need to measure a shadow and Pylon creates a 3D model of the area surrounding the installation site. Year-round shading can then be predicted with minute-by-minute granularity.

The result is more accurate proposals, faster.
