Benefits

- Lists: MailChimp helps users customize signup forms to match your brand, so you can share it on your website and integrate it into your social media pages. You can also collect signups from a variety of mobile devices or import an existing list. Users can also take advantage of existing integrations to help keep their data up to date between platforms.

- Templates: MailChimp offers a variety of pre‑designed, responsive templates. Users can also start‑from‑scratch and use the template builder for more customization. If you’re an HTML expert, you can code your own with our flexible template language.

- Campaigns: Email Segmentation is easy with MailChimp. Send a campaign to your entire list, or target people based on available list data such as geolocation or their open/click history. RSS‑to‑Email and Automated Workflows allow you to create automated campaigns that will start sending based on triggers set by the user.

- Reports: MailChimp’s reporting features help a user understand who’s opening, clicking, and coming back for more. The reports are mobile friendly and can be exported to share with coworkers or clients. Tweet Trends gives you insight into your subscribers’ activity on Twitter, and our Google Analytics integration gives you advanced stats on how your campaigns affect traffic to your website. If you sell online, our reports can help users understand how their email marketing is directly affecting sales on their website.

You can't say many bad things about Mailchimp, it's not for everyone - but it will suit most small/medium businesses perfectly. Their email builder tool is probably the best around!

Pros: Cost-effective, simple to use

Cons: Limited flexibility/customisation

Good, not great

We have used MailChimp for years. Overall it is a great product although we do find it to be somewhat limiting compared to Constant Contact for novice graphic design users. Often we use raw HTML to create MailChimp messages. A more powerful WYSIWYG would be nice.

Pros: Reliable and trusted platform for mass communication.

Cons: To get the best looking messages possible requires intermediate to advanced skills. Not ideal for the novice in my opinion.

Pretty Effective

I don't pay attention to the Subscribers with most opens since its simply their email client that is reporting the "opens" so the data is never accurate.

Pros: You can see the open rate and clicks from the mobile app and the templates are pretty easy to use.

Cons: I can never get the mail merge tags to work! Why do they let you send a test of the email if these features don't work? Isn't that the whole point of testing it?

Overrated!

I've been using it for several years now and as long as we did not have to contact the support, it was fine. But whenever we've run into some issues with our account, it's actually really hard to get a valuable support from them.

Pros: If you are on their good servers, your email will get delivered. A lot of integrations. Probably the most popular email marketing platform on the market.

Cons: Support is worthless and takes a long time to get a reply. If the system gets blocked and stops sending email, you're left in the dark without any notifications about it.

MailChimp is great

I have used MailChimp for over a year now. Their layout is awesome, very simple to see results of your campaigns, easy to edit your subscribers, easy to integrate with other sites. Very simple to design new emails. The free plan is great to get started if you don't plan to do automation but it is a great starting point.

Pros: Great display of results Easy to read results

Cons: Automation was a little tricky to figure out

Mail Chimp

We used Mail Chimp (MC) for several years until we transitioned to Donor Perfect (DP) and used their email program. We found MC to be very intuitive and functional. We only switched away from MC because DP had a difference program integrated into their package.

Pros: Easy, cheap, intuitive, functional

Cons: Didn't integrate easily with our Donor Perfect package.

Solid email service. They make it pretty easy to add mailchimp forms to your website, although they aren't always the prettiest. Easy to see lists and create emails.

Pros: Good interface for viewing lists and subscribers

Cons: Hard to get subscription forms into website

MailChimp helps us reach a wide base of donors and tracks the activity for our mailings. It's great for communication and development. We use it almost weekly!

Pros: Easy to use, lots of options and great templates

Cons: The sweaty monkey hand definitely freaks me out when you're about to send a mass email.

That's exactly what you do with mailchimp. Your emails look so much more professional! They have a ton of features from custom templates. to A/B marketing, to setting up sign up forms via Chimpadeedoo. Super easy to use as well.

Pros: Drag and drop email creation, import customers via Excel, and feel like a pro at email. Their entire product is easy to use, simple, and looks pro.

Cons: Free accounts have ZERO customer support. Before you could email them and get an answer, but now you have to pay. My goal is to get enough subscribers where I'll need to pay for their service, and then I can really take advantage of the app.

Basic email marketing app

Jennifer Andres, Projects Administrator at OneVision Project Services Australia Pty. Ltd.
I've been using Mailchimp with several clients and it hasn't failed me. It's hassle free and easy to use. The functions are straight-forward and it even has some tools to help keep track of the email campaigns and its stats. For a database that's less than 500, this is the app you need.

Pros: Very affordable and even cost free if your database or recipient list is small

Cons: Limited functionality for customization
