Restrictive and confusing pricing

39% of reviewers feel negative about SurveyMonkey’s pricing. Some users report that the free version is too limited, restricting the number of questions, responses, and access to key features like analytics and downloads. Reviewers indicate that advanced functionality and customization are locked behind expensive paid plans, which they find difficult to justify for occasional or small-scale use. Some reviewers feel the pricing structure is confusing, with unexpected charges, auto-renewals, and limited refund options. They say these limitations often force them to seek alternative, more affordable survey tools or cause frustration when scaling usage.

Quick and flexible polling

95% of reviewers feel positive about SurveyMonkey’s polling features. Some users say the platform allows them to create and distribute polls rapidly for both informal and formal purposes, such as event planning, team decisions, and customer sentiment checks. Reviewers indicate that the intuitive interface and variety of question types make it easy to poll large groups and gather actionable insights. They appreciate being able to share polls across multiple channels and note that even less tech-savvy participants can respond without difficulty. Some reviewers feel the tool’s analytics help them interpret poll results efficiently.

Versatile feedback collection

97% of reviewers feel positive about SurveyMonkey’s feedback capabilities. Some reviewers find the platform effective for gathering feedback from diverse groups, including customers, employees, and stakeholders, which helps them identify areas for improvement. Reviewers appreciate being able to customize surveys for specific needs and value the anonymity features that encourage honest responses. Some users report that real-time feedback and data analysis enable them to make informed decisions quickly. They indicate that the tool’s flexibility supports a wide range of feedback scenarios, from performance evaluations to event planning, making it valuable for ongoing business development.

Network Support Coordinator

It saves time, keeps responses organized, and provides useful reporting that helps improve internal processes and team engagement. While some premium features come at an additional cost, the platform is dependable, user-friendly, and delivers good value for regular feedback collection.

HR Manager

My only criticism is the way response data is exported. While the export feature is functional, I feel the formatting could be improved to make the data easier to analyze and present, especially when working with larger surveys or sharing results with others

Communications Director

I especially appreciate the variety of question types, customization options, and detailed analytics that help turn responses into actionable insights.

Student

Also, a few features—like advanced question logic or deeper analytics—seem to require paid plans, so organizations using the free version have limited customization.

The survey builder is intuitive, file sharing is straightforward, and the response summaries make it easy to identify trends without spending hours analyzing data.

Legal Assistant

What I liked most about SurveyMonkey was the ease of creating and distributing surveys, along with its strong analytics and reporting tools.

Founder

Real-time results, clean charts, and filtering/cross-tabbing that let me slice responses by segment without exporting anything.

The main drawback was the pricing, as key features require a paid subscription. While the platform is powerful, I found the free version quite limited, and upgrading to access advanced features can be expensive for smaller projects or occasional use.

Benefits amd Compliance Manager

SurveyMonkey is a great platform for collecting and analyzing basic surveys, getting feedback, and analyzing results.

Skip logic and branching let me build something reasonably sophisticated when I needed it, and the integrations (it plugged into the tools I was already using) meant responses didn't just sit in a silo.

Some advanced survey logic and reporting features require a paid subscription, which may not be ideal for smaller teams with basic needs.

Project Manager

What I liked most about SurveyMonkey is the flexibility to make a poll quickly and to send it out to all parties involved.

Software Engineer

Since survey monkey is not part of a traditional enterprise workspace, it may require a learning curve to integrate with other enterprise softwares and may require some extra work

Some customization and analytics options are only available in higher-priced plans, which can be expensive for individuals or small businesses.

Business Development

One of the easiest way to facilitate survey creation, survey design, review feedback, and of course the best part was seeing how this encouraged team and employee engagement,

Event Planner

The free version of Survey Monkey limits the number of questions you can ask as well as the number of responses.

Director of design and research

Through use of the product we have been able to conduct statistical analysis and collect feedback from our employees and customers.

Short Course Manager

There is not AI integration to the level where it could automate or help with Survey Cadence, or translating the feedback into actionable ideas or strategy around employee engagement.

Chief Technology Officer

My group and I have used this to do some diet surveys and we did not have an error after exporting the previous days webinar data (which was huge).

Overall, SurveyMonkey is a reliable and flexible survey tool that combines simplicity with powerful customization options.

Assistant manager

The free/basic tier has serious restrictions—limited questions, limited number of responses you can view/export, and many features locked behind paid plans.

Sr AI Analyst

Time to time, it can be seen that the quality of the participants responses drops and it might be hard to extract meaningful/insightful data from the collected information.

Director of Instructional Technology

We use it to solicit parent feedback and find that it is easy to generate multiple question types and it is also easy for parents to respond.

Sr. Dir. Support and Operations

Another small challenge has been with the Google Sheets integration—when using custom fields, the data ordering sometimes breaks, requiring manual cleanup.

Managing Director

I still use the template surveys but the ability to create my own with a single prompt has been super helpful!

Project manager

I do believe you could accomplish great analytical data on this platform but you really need to be able to pay for the service which for a small business is more difficult.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

What i like most about surveymonkey is that it pairs you with surveys that matches all your interest

The platform made it simple to collect responses, analyze data, and generate clear, actionable insights.

I wish there were better AI analysis features that we could preset to analyze survey results in a desired format.

Office Manager

It's frustrating that some of the best features are locked behind paid plans, and the free version can feel a bit limited at times.

Sales and Marketing Manager

It works great after PK sessions we have our staff attempt quizzes and look for a specific score before giving them the certificate for that section.

Director of Operations

The pricing takes a bit of a jump from $39/month to $99/month and it can be a bit heavy when you opt to pay for the service annually.

Nurse

I also like how responses are collected and displayed in a clear format, making it easy to review feedback and analyze results.
