Pros

The greatest benefit that came from this software, for me, is the ability to conduct business, specifically, complete a payment transaction, no matter where you are located.
Square is an awesome piece of software to use. The retail side has great capabilities for sales, inventory, gift cards, rewards, and much much more.
Square is very simple to learn and use as an end user, and it has gain a lot of popularity recently, customers feel more and more comfortable with this system.

Pros

It does have a powerful dashboard full of features, a great customer service to guide you through any circumstance you need help with.
It is super easy to get running and use. It has tutorials and forums to help you understand and a great layout which makes everything super accessible.
It has been an excellent experience and I would recommend it to other small business owners like myself.

Cons

If I am to complain about something I would complain about the percentage I am giving back to square but that it the cost of doing business.
The only thing that has ever been slightly frustrating is the traditional card reader being sensitive when swiping cards. Sometimes I'll have to try 3-4 times to get it to register.
I dislike that it fails sometimes and it is not accessible at many different vendors and restaurants.

Cons

There are fees that are not too transparent or still confusing as I have customers all over the world and have to pay differing charges.
The only bit about this software that is frustrating is that it takes a while for the money to arrive in your bank.

Overall, I prefer square any day over stripe and PayPal payments.

Pros

Love live square. Love that it can be used for both in store and online payments. It sync with my quickbooks which saves me a whole lot of time. It gives detail daily reports which includes best seller of the day, number of sales, number of products sold and what type of product sold, taxes paid, types of payment the customers used, plus it syncs with my online store inventory. Square gives you all the detail info you never realized you need till you need it all in one place. So easy to use and tailored for retailers. Love the Apple Pay feature too.

Cons

My big con with square integration is it doesn’t sync well with bigcommerce. By that I mean, my online sales gets imported as a custom order so there is no itemized list of what the customers bought. Also with bigcommerce, there is no way for me to take Apple Pay or other digital wallet payments. Square does have digital wallet payment options with their square space shopping cart. Fingers crossed they will fix this custom import stuff soon.

A quick fix to an industry problem

Overall Square is phenomenally good at easily processing point of sale transactions, even with just a mobile device and a card reader which can be purchased for $15 or less at many major retailers. They are one of the only fast solutions I was able to purchase on the go and facilitate commerce on the go.

Pros

Very fast deployment and ease of use, all you need is the Square app and possibly a mag stripe reader in order to receive payments from mag stripe cards. Square's versatility with payment options and ease of use shows they truly have passion for what they do.

Cons

There has been some talk in the press about them cancelling payments for those related to political movements. Such actions are deplorable.

Pros

What's not to like. Very powerful, yet intuitive software help you setup inventory, track sales, calculate tax and get payments with cards. Cash is no longer king, especially with Square around. I even helped my 70+ year old mother set up a square reader for her iPhone and take payments of the little knick-knacks she sells for my dad's business. If she can do it, anyone can.

Cons

Not much. The stripe readers aren't the best, but with everything going to chip that is getting eliminated.

I love how portable and easy to use the hardware is. It makes all the difference being able to be mobile and also look professional.

Cons

I don't like that it doesn't integrate with Wix. It's less convenient when I have to toggle b/w Square and Stripe.

With square providing Free magnetic stripe card readers and only charge a fair fee for a chipped card reader I can collect money very easy from my customers

Pros

For a small company it was vital for us to be able to accept credit card payments and Square allows small businesses to do so very inexpensivly!

Cons

I suppose the only down side is the credit card fee that is charged on every transaction which if you accept some large payments, adds up very quickly!

This is a great electronic payment option that I use for billing client credit cards. The instant deposit is available in just minutes and the app allows for multiple card inputs. There is some good features for invoicing, saving customer billing data and reporting.

Our experience with Square has been small but hugely positive. Easy to sign up, and really intuitive to setup and operate. It is unfortunate that it can not be our catch all solution for sales since it can not integrate everywhere we need it to. Beyond our own experience though we see so many small business and artisans who are using Square because it offers something so affordable, so simple and adds a layer of confidence to your transactions that can move with you everywhere.

Pros

My favorite thing about Square POS is the tiny card reader for your phone. This tiny piece of (free) hardware that comes with your account setup delivers something that is remarkable. It gives your customers confidence in your transaction on the phone instead of taking there card number and inputting it manually like some other offerings.

Cons

Not enough integration - Square seems to be in a grey zone, where it is not quite a payment gateway like Stripe. It would definitely benefit from some expansion in that direction

Square served our business well for a number of years as an easy way to collect donations at fundraisers and rental payments at our offices. We recently ‘grew out’ of Squares limited capabilities, and switched to Stripe.

Pros

Square’s platform is clear, simple, and easy to use. Refunds are easy to process and confirmation emails are easy to customize.

Cons

Customer and product management in Square can be very time consuming. The readers don’t stay in good condition very long.

There's a reason so many small businesses use Stripe - it works. We use it at our gift shop, and $5 card readers that work with any phone means that we can easily scale up to have multiple "registers" at larger fundraising events.

Pros

Square is easy to use - all you need as a phone. I was pleased to learn that new card readers are available that plug into iPhone lightning jacks, since these phones no longer have headphone jacks and aren't compatible with the old readers.

Cons

I would like to be able to use the chip reader, but can't justify the price. In the meantime, the card reader (swiping cards) works fine.

Super easy to create an invoice, which is all we use square for. We do not do in person sales. It is easy to track who has paid and offer the ability to receive tips

Integration with quickbooks would be helpful. We do our estimates and invoices in quickbooks, I then have to copy and paste our invoices into square to send for billing.

Mine didn't work using just mobile data - I had to have my mobile phone connected to wifi for it to work.

I really appreciate Square's cost and faster settlement options, as well as the many other features they provide for small businesses. Although I don't use them, they certainly look wonderful.

Cons

Occasionally, the portion that the card fits into has issues, and it must be repeated. It can be awkward to ask the consumer if they want to tip by turning the screen you're using.

A great little tool and easy to use software for accepting plastic.

Pros

This application and hardware gives you instant access to debit and credit billing, all from the ease of your phone. It has opened our business up from a cash/check based business. Much more convenient for customers.

Cons

The fee. It is reasonable simply because of the increased volume of our business in accepting credit and debit. So it's worth it for now, but may be reevaluated later.

I have been using this for 4 years and love it. I don't love paying fees but I would miss a lot of sales if I didn't have this system for my business I run by myself.

Pros

Fees are less than most places for in-person transactions. They have several devices you can obtain, such as the small chip reader and the mag-stripe reader which is what I use. I loved that I could use both with my cell phone so I did not need an iPad or big POS device. Having the ability to manually run payments and send invoices is awesome as well.

Cons

Fees are high when sending invoices or processing payments without the payment method present. There is no function to do auto-withdrawals easily.

Pros

The easy functionality of each component that Square offers. The reports that Square generates are easy to interpret from a perspective of integrating into accounting/bookkeeping software. The fast turn around with deposits is really excellent as is the actual equipment, everything is so streamlined and easy to use whether we are inside our storefront or in the community using Square for offsite client payments.

Cons

The only negative for me was initially getting used to the per transaction fee being withheld immediately. In the past I had been used to the payment processor fees being deducted in a lump sum at the end of each billing cycle.

Perfect for one time payments and recurring

Very satisfied. Definitely great for when you are starting out and even with an established business.

Pros

I like that I can use it directly as well as integrate it with my own point of sale system. I used to have to pay for a software that could do both one time payments and automatic recurring subscriptions but this beat them out. I work mostly from my computer and its easy to get into and if I can't remember how to do one functions I can easily get what I need from their support forums or support chat.

Cons

Only thing this won't do is notify me if a payment doesn't go through, but there is a quick fix for that. I just use zapier and now I receive an email notification if that happens. Oh and I had a chargeback once I'd like to see an option to upload multiple documents for disputes not just one. I get that there is only so much file size available in messages plus my contract took care of that issue.

un respect de la vie privée ? Stripe est un des produits principalement utilisé par lez developpeurs, de sorte que leur site dispose de nombreux supports pour notre plus grand bonheur, il y a des forums et différentes ressources qui permettent aux développeurs de mettre en œuvre plus facilement des paiements sur n'importe quelle plate-forme. Point important il y a des options pour gérer les clients et les abonnements qui peuvent être facturés sur une période de temps fixe, leur donner des essais gratuits, tout est paramétrable selon ses besoins. Leurs commissions ne sont pas les moins chères, mais trés bon rapport qualité prix. Ils continuent à développer sans cesse leur offre.

Cons

Personnellement je n'ai rencontré aucun problème avec le support , mais parfois trés long à répondre quand on a des questions.

I’ve been using Stripe for about a year with my small online clothing business. I send out weekly invoices in small increments of less than 100 invoices per week.

Pros

I love using this app for my small side business. It’s free to use and the only cost I’ve incurred is transferring my funds to my account. And it’s a small fee. Invoicing is super simple and can be done through the app. You can take payments yourself or customers can pay through their invoice. Reports are available.

Cons

Invoices aren’t very customizable. Not idea for large batches of invoices.
