Pros

I like the fact that we no longer have to have paper files, ease of use overall and some of the features like appointment reminders, the ability to create and add your own documents.
This software is richly featured. I've appreciated the ability to create very sophisticated custom online intake forms, and and the autopay enrollment for automated batch credit card billings.
I am appreciate of the customer service that is prompt with response. The software has amazing training videos that assists with new users like myself.

Pros

What I enjoy most about Zoom is its ease of use, ability to record meetings, and its affordable price point.
The cost benefit is very good and ease of connection, I can share the screen during meetings, and excellent for my work.
The fact that it is easy to learn, as well as the quit and helpful response from customer service. I am glad it was recommended to me and I will continue to help others by doing the same.

Cons

I have struggled most with billing—getting cards to not charge for missed appointments. Reminders have occasionally caught me off guard—either they went out too many times or not enough.
This annoyed me because my time is very valuable and I specifically set aside the time for my training and no one bothered to alert me that it had been canceled.
My main complaint is that I have had trouble getting someone on the phone when I have an issue. They do tend to respond by email quickly but sometimes I would prefer a phone conversation.

Cons

I think we were so overwhelmed by the zoom at this bad time that there is nothing to worry about.
If I do have problems sharing my screen, etc. then I have to typically leave zoom and re-enter the meeting. It always solves the problem but is an annoyance.
There has been a few times where Zoom doesn't work well with my internet and I'll randomly be dropped from calls with no warning.

Creating New Systems

Pros

The HIPPA features of scheduling plus the client portal. I've appreciated the Support I've received by Zoom teleconference with the support staff.

Cons

It's been complicated to implement. Sometimes I can't find how to get back to sending info or how to check if I've received a message back from a client. Integrating a whole new system is challenging.

Pros

I like that it syncs with my Google Calendar. that's important to me. Also it seems not too hard to figure out how to use.

Cons

I would have loved a lower cost. Also, I would like to color code my appointments to give myself an idea if it's a phone appt. or a zoom appt. or in person.

This software makes the administration of my practice easy and fast. It takes the burden of running the practice and lightens it up so that you can actually focus on helping people rather than managing paperwork.

Pros

Easy to use and set up. Super easy to get all my documents out to the clients. Love the integrated video platform which is even more stable than Zoom. It makes running my practice super smooth.

Cons

I'd like more integrations for electronic payment that just Stripe. I want to use my Square account but am unable to at this time.

Great product for telehealth practice

SimplePractice has made it easy for me to transition to an online telehealth practice while meeting all ethical and legal requirements. I do not regret purchasing this software at all!

Pros

Simplepratice has enabled my telehealth practice to grow seamlessly and easily. I love the ease of having clients complete documents in a confidential manner.

Cons

The telehealth component of the software allows for secure video sessions. However, it does not have all of the functions that other programs like Zoom have for the video sessions. I wish the video sessions had similar features that allow for more direct interaction between participants.

Great for Streamlining my Practice

Pros

I am really enjoying SimplePractice so far - although I've only been using it for a little over a month. I love being able to create templates for notes/intake (which is very easy to customize). It's also incredibly easy to get clients to update or fill out paperwork, such as ROIs. The calendar has been great, too, and my clients love having the ability to schedule/reschedule online.

Cons

My biggest issue is with the calendar. When you go to fill out availability, it does not show what's already on the calendar. It would make things easier for me to be able to see when I have meetings (that I need to give travel time for) or other appts.

Customizable!

It's great!

Pros

My favorite thing about SP has been the countless options and features I can customize to fit my needs. I also like the calendar sync option because I need to make sure meetings and personal appointments are not double booked.

Cons

The fee to run credit cards is higher than outside apps so I continue using my own credit card app. If they would match the fee, then my practice could be entirely in one place. I wish there was a number to call for quick answers, technical support or speak to an expert, because the online question/answer system can be confusing at times.

Not Bad, but I miss Epic

So far, I've only created templates, added clients, and input insurance information. I'm moving on to billing next week so I'll know more then. I would add that I really appreciated the half-hour in-person tutorial (via zoom) I received near the end of my trial period.

Pros

There are many things I like about this EMR: the format is pleasing and (mostly) intuitive, the side bars are handy, and the trove of FAQ's and videos is astounding and often very helpful.

Cons

The templates limit the user to certain forms and give fairly small boxes for narrative responses. I used to use EPIC and I miss being able to populate an open page with my template and add/adjust it as desired, like a Word document. I also wish the calendar allowed for more detail--like, a different color for intakes vs follow-up appointments would be really nice. Or, there could be a code before the client's name in the calendar slot--like, 'I - Jane Doe' and 'F - John Doe'. I also wish that the end time of the appts was more clear. I like to schedule a 15 min break between my appts and the "Weekly" view is definitely better than the "monthly" view for this, but still not as clear as I would like.

Unwanted new features to justify significant price increase.

My experience was poor overall. I initially loved them and recommended to others but I will be leaving simple practice for another EMR after this sudden and senseless price hike as I'm sure this is a pattern they will continue. They were very dismissive of my concerns and let me know that there would be no refunds. I did not feel I could trust them to make decisions in the interest of the consumer. As a product developer myself I typically send out surveys and conduct focus groups on new products. I don't think they did this judging by the pile of negative reviews on trust pilot within the last few weeks. A price increase is fine but a price increase above 10% of the base cost in a time of crisis is price gouging.

Pros

I liked the original pricing plans. They were reasonable and had the basic features my practice required (online booking widget, documentation, and appointment reminders).

Cons

Simple Practice gave little notice when they hiked the price by 50% for some basic features. They stated that the new features justified the price hike however we don't use the new features, didn't request them, don't need them, and don't want them. What we require is the plan we chose upon choosing this EMR. An added website isn't useful when you already have a website and don't need two. Telepractice isn't useful when their system is inferior to zoom and you already have a system in place.

Simple Practice Experience

I really didn’t know where to start when I was faced with the exciting yet daunting task of starting my practice. All the legalities that go into practicing have to be adhered to but can be overwhelming that informed consent and policies are all set up truly was relief and created a sense of support. The help field is well, helpful! When I did need support and was able to meet up with a live person on video through Zoom.us I trouble shot my concern and learned how-to use Zoom for future tele health sessions (presumably). Also, I’m learning as I go, I like being able to pace my own speed of learning. Overall a positive experience so far!

Pros

The intake paperwork that is emailed to new patients. The set up for payment for self pay patients.

Cons

Nothing that I do not like. The fact that there is a learning curve which is simply inherent to the process.

Useful and Easy

I have been a search for a database system, that would allow me to document meetings, billing, calendar, invoices, and appointment reminders. I actually originally signed up with another company but when I came across Simple Practice I am immediately signed up. It is easy to use has a lot of amazing options to run a practice. A huge plus is the IOS application. The one negative part is that the application does not provide a lot of the awesome desktop options such as billing and sending intakes to clients on the application. But the plus that I really like is the ability to see feedback from other customers and Simple Practice actually implements customers ideas into the database.

Terrible Coustomer Service

Pros

Notes are good and scheduling is easy, Portal is easy. Which they had an option for clients to sign portal in person. Work with [SENSITIVE CONTENT]older adults and most doesn’t have emails

Cons

Terrible Coustomer Service - it’s very difficult to speak with someone very limited times to talk with support. I have been having issues with billing for over 2 months, I keep getting different responses from support. Every time I reach out take 2 to 3 days to get a response but than you try to respond back and than takes another 2 to 3 days. I had the option for a Zoom meeting but took a week and half to get an appointment. I have been asking to speak to a supervisor and I get past on to another support person and tells me to talk with the same support person, I’m not sure why I can’t speak to a supervisor! I would switch services but it’s a lot of work to go to a new company.

5 stars all around for small practices

Simple Practice has helped our firm launch on a steady foot and thrive. Once the set up process was ready, our team began implementation, tested things out and found that there was literally nothing you couldn't do with the highest tier package. Well worth the investment for us so far.

Pros

As an org that is in the midst of developing a small and newly launched counseling practice within our public service non-profit, finding Simple Practice, using its free trial, and eventually buying 7 licenses for our team to go with it was a relief. Simple practice offers everything a counseling firm could need. We use this to manage 7 chaplains and counselors who interact with about 1,000-1,200 people every year on college campuses and at our seminary campus. It lets us do scheduling, capture information, take notes, build an e-file on a client, and even get people to sign waivers within the software. The best part is the tele-conferencing which we are able to use to have remote meetings as a team and for client sessions.

Cons

There is no direct customer service number -- you have to request them to contact you and wait till they do. Their responses are pretty much copy/paste -- they try and standardize their services and likely wont help you solve issues -- you'll just have to pay for the bigger package. They do not offer non-profit pricing and their pricing tiers are pretty steep.
