I used Powerpay 7 years ago and am using it now again, it is simple and I like many features (ROE adjustment, Deduction page) but some things should be improved (reporting mostly)

Powerpay is an excellent tool.   Having the ability to work with payroll in this format has enabled me to delegate certain levels of data entry to lower level managers with allowing access to confidential information.  This improved efficiencies.   Having the ability to access our whole payroll system remotely has been a great asset.   Customer service is always quick to respond and you always get to speak to a person that is friendly, professional and will find the answer for you.
The software is very easy to use and straight forward.  I appreciate that we have been able to do some customization.   There are many resources available as well for small businesses that may not otherwise have access.

I'm in the business of electrical contracting, so the less time I spend on stuff like payroll, the better. It would actually cost me a lot more in labor to do it myself. And this way it's always done right.

Why would you do your own payroll?

We are smaller type Mental Health agency, so we do not have an HR function.   When I have a HR or payroll issue I need guidance with, 99 times out of 100 when I have called Ceridian I have received concise information to apply and complete the transaction.  The PowerPay team is very patient and knowledgeable to guide you on tax interpretations on areas I do not have full knowledge. 
In particular I have found the guidance on termination/severance /ROE to be invaluable to me.

                                                       One of our main concerns with payroll was being able to have it such that we have very detailed amounts going to all of our various funders. Powerpay solves that so that we can download an Excel document, which I can further allocate any employee's salaries, benefits, deductions to their specific funders. We use categories for that.
                                                       I really like the fact that Powerpay has the rapid entry screen where you can easily enter in employee hours, you can enter in salary overrides, you can enter in any in-lieu-of-benefits payments that we have, stat payments, stat hours. It's very, very user-friendly and you can easily just plug and chug.
                                                       One thing that I wish Powerpay could do is have the rapid entry screen able to... Where I could upload an Excel document, paste it directly into the rapid entry screen so that I wouldn't have to type the hours out twice.

                                                       Prior to using Ceridian Powerpay, we used Sage 50 as an internal payroll system, and we decided to use Ceridian PowerPay in conjunction with Sage to make our payroll systems far more efficient.
                                                       We chose to use Ceridian PowerPay in our organization because of the human resources functionality and for the price point available on the market.
                                                       I found onboarding Ceridian Powerpay extremely easy. It's very intuitive and very user-friendly.
                                                       For any other business or organization considering using Powerpay, I would certainly recommend it for a small organization. It makes payroll very easy. It is great for the human resources functionality and it's great for the price point.
