Greenhouse is a tool that is looking to make the hiring experience the best one possible. The tool is intuitive and makes interview confirmations a dream.
Intuitive Easy to create a hiring experience from start to finish. Makes sending interview confirmations easy.
Reporting is not as easy as it is in Lever.

I thought it seemed like an adequate solution. When we switched to lever I was sad because I had just figured out how to use greenhouse. Lever is functionally the same to me.
We used Greenhouse for a number of years before switching to lever. The recruiting team as admins had a bunch of stuff they fussed over in terms of features. as a leader of a team that recruits but not a part of the recruiting team, I can't really tell the difference between lever and greenhouse.
As part of a small team, I have a narrow focus on only finding the stuff that matters to my paltry 1-2 hires. But it seemed like it always started at a global level, probably with a focus on the recruiting teams, and I had to click around a lot to find what I wanted.

Great piece of software with a bad support however, if they improve this part of business it would be a huge competition for Workable and Lever.
Overall Greenhouse is a great piece of software and real kudos for their engineering and design team. It has more than 200+ integrations which is incomparable to any other ATS system. It has an option to invite third parties to participate in recruitment processes (eg. recruitment agency or RPO agency) what is great in todays' world. There is a full GDPR support, clear UI (however worse than Lever and Workable) and a lot of additional products to expand capabilities of Lever.
Customer Support, it is really slow and sometimes I didn't get any answer from them. I asked more than three times to contact me because I'm interested in buying Greenhouse and they didn't respond at all. It per se convinced me not to recommend this product.

I like Greenhouse, but I don't enjoy it as much as another big name in the ATS market: Lever. It's good for the price and will suit most users' needs, but lacks in some areas, making it my #2 choice.
Greenhouse has a lot of customization options and offers and makes it easy to adjust job stages, interview scorecards, and more. It also has a ton of integrations to make life easier.
Greenhouse isn't very intuitive and is not very robust when it comes to reporting or communicating with candidates.

We just transitioned from Lever to Greenhouse. I'm so excited about the approachable user interface. I think the easy UI will give us a good chance of getting interviewers and hiring managers to use the platform, which is always a struggle with ATS. It's been great so far.

Greenhouse is a popular option, but for the cost, hassle of setting up, inability to customize, horrible customer service, etc, it really isn't worth the hype. We used Greenhouse for 1 year, and it was honestly 1 year too long. At this point, I've used Jobvite, Lever and Google Hire, and Greenhouse is my least favorite.
The UI/UX is great and easy to navigate. Honestly anybody can navigate the site with very little instruction.
Their customer service is horrible. They use Zendesk and 75% of the time, they do not know the answer to the questions. Their cancelation policy is horrible. Really can't customize to the degree they promote. For small-to-mid size company such as ours, there are better options out there for half the price. We now use Google Hire, and we love it SO much more.

Overall greenhouse is a GOOD system, but not GREAT. I've worked with them in the past, as well as other systems such as lever, and feel they could do a fair bit to be the best in class ATS (which they were on track to be several years ago). I'm still using them, and am hopeful that their product roadmap will get them there!
I really love the search tool, you're able to search key words in resumes to narrow down on ideal candidates. I do wish there was a slightly better function for this (maybe in the future you could type in key words during applicant review and have those applications pop up?).It's also great that you can put notes tagging other folks so they're able to see key bits of information or profiles of interest.
One feature that I've found both extremely valuable AND lacking is the self scheduling tool. If you would like to set up ONE interview - the tool works fantastic. But if you would like to - for example - set up a panel of 2 interviews, or an interview that has two interviewers, the tool does not function. It also can't reschedule if someone would like to choose a different time slot. Though the tool is good in theory, it certainly does not meet expectations. Additionally, we've struggled with the user functionality for our manager. It takes a lot of training to get them in the system, and don't even get me started on trying to get their google calendar synced with the system...

I have 10+ years of experience in the Talent Acquisition space and I've used just about every ATS you can think about, from the monsters (Taleo, SilkRoad, etc.) to the startups (Jazz, Lever, Jobvite). I've never felt compelled to write an online review before, but I'd never been blown away by a recruiting tool before either. Out of everything we've been working on this year nothing has had...
Everything. reporting communication time-saving structured interviews meaningful feedback phenomenal suport it makes life better it makes me happy it makes my team happy it makes my hiring mangers happy it makes my CEO happy

I use Lever as the Head of Talent for a start up in San Francisco.
Lever Nurture Campaign is a great tool to create automated recruiting drip email campaigns. This is not a tool you can find in Greenhouse
Terrible UI, just shades of grey. The workflow isn't intuitive. Its not customizable at all. You have to get someone in support to change some of the fields in your scorecard.

It has saved us so many person hours in scheduling and it gives us so much passive recruiting functionality we were missing with Greenhouse.
I adore Lever. the UX is amazing, simple and soooo intuitive. Lever has saved us so much time doing scheduling and daily ATS activities and the team loves it. It's SUCH an improvement over Greenhouse. They're also amazing about implementing our feature requests. All my pet peeves are gone. It's so fabulous.
When you click into reports, sometimes the dates default to the last date you used so the data appears incomplete. It's possible to spend some time sending emails to support before you realize it's an issue of selecting a date. But I bet they'll have a solution for this soon. We have it in as a feature request.

We were looking for a new ATS vendor which could offer us more tools and workflows. We ultimately chose Greenhouse because of their onboarding tool.
User friendly and intuitive design. Has a lot of integrations with other software partners which made a pretty seamless experience.
Would like to see (eventually im sure they will) have an onboarding tool. That was the main thing missing from the product.

I think the fact that it was a bit more bare bones than Greenhouse when I started using it as an interviewer could be considered a pro.
But that bare bones factor can also be considered a con. I have no control over how it's being set up so I'm unsure if it's just how our company is using it that makes it bare bones.

Simple hiring pipeline maintenance and management; good tool with reliable outcomes for most basic hiring processes. Important to have good candidate management in terms of end to end experience; Lever allows for that.
Easy to use software to help coordinate recruiting pipelines across teams and hiring needs. Simplifies processes and scales nicely as companies grow.
Works better for smaller companies than large enterprises; for those I would probably recommend greenhouse or google hire. I think that the metrics could also be stronger.

Wrapping up our Lever implementation this week and couldn't be happier! Already so impressed with the functionality and ease of use. The Lever team has been incredibly helpful and made the process of migrating away from Greenhouse so easy. Absolutely recommend.
Tedious to set up - In the long run, it will be worth it to have this level of customization, but there's a ton of work to be done at the onboarding stage that requires dedicated time.

I have been using Lever for years and I wanted my new company to start using it instead of Greenhouse. The functionality is easier to use and it makes the day to day flow effortlessly with our TA team.
There are some features it is lacking that I hope they release very soon, it would make our lives a lot easier

After using Greenhouse for many years, I wanted so badly to love Lever, but unfortunately I couldn't wholeheartedly recommend it. I wish their customer support was better and that they had a mobile app. Compared to other ATS's out there, it's one of the better ones, though.
Lever is very easy to use and has a nice UI. I really love the Nurture feature which allows me to send emails on behalf of my colleagues.
The customer service support is not great. More often than not reps aren't available or able to answer my questions right away. The reporting UI leaves a lot to be desired, and there also isn't a snapshot of all candidates in one place.

Overall Lever matches Greenhouse as my two favorite ATS. Very similar in format. I think Lever is a little more bland, but has a better UI for candidates, which makes Lever slightly more practical in my opinion. I highly recommend Lever and think this is a great system to use for Recruiting, HR or CRM needs.
The parsing of the resume is outstanding! I'm a big fan of ease of use and the canddiate pipeline breakdown is the best I have seen. Creating interviews takes a little getting used to, but is very straight forward once you get the hang of it. Archiving candidates is easy as well.
The biggest negative I have detected is if you swap a candidate from one job to another and they already have a forthcoming interview set, it will NOT transfer the interview. It transfers the resume, critical info, etc. but not that. I learned that the hard way and highly recommend fixing that for users.

I had such high hopes for Lever coming from a Workday shop. I would take Workday over Lever now. The product fails in every way. No core clean reporting, no useful on boarding partnerships, even the approval process which has been automated for 10 years has an awful interface. This is not a candidate centric ATS. Does not scale globally.
Integration with Zoom, Sterling, and Docusign
1. Awful Reporting 2. Poor new recruiter interface 3. Awful Career page function and design 4. Poor design for candidate experience 5. Not data centric 6. WAY OVER PRICED when compared to Greenhouse and Smart Recruiter who offer way more features and onboarding add on. Charged us $80k for a for functionality I had 10 years ago.

We selected our ATS primarily on User Experience and Cost. We shortlisted Greenhouse and SmartRecruiters and went with Lever. This is a candidate centric system, focused on user experience. Having used a number of large tier 1 systems which are clunky, unable to integrate with third parties (or make it difficult), it has taken some getting used to but I LOVE IT.
Lever is so easy to use. Our hiring managers jumped straight in with little to no training and are engaged in the recruitment process. Lever Nuture has allowed me to increase reach out email response rates by at least 50%. The ability to personalise and automate emails is a time saver and provides for an awesome candidate experience. Customer Service is excellent, responsive and sets realistic expectations. From a recruiters perspective it is easy to move through the platform, screens aren't cluttered, minimal clicks and loads of integrations with other API's. Very patient team. We've had a few changes in the team and Lever Support and Customer Success has been extremely helpful in reptition of training in short time frames.
We're based in Australia and unfortunately by the time a ticket is responded to it is a day later. If the response is not clear or not what we were looking for, then we wait for another day. Reporting is challenging due to the seperation of Requisition Reports (Lever Intelligence) and Job Postings. Manager dashboards do not provide the transparency required (based on what our business wants to see). Should have customisable dashboards. We have a decentralised model where Head of Engineering for example can't see Engineering roles as they directly report into a Product Team. It's not easy to customise, and quite difficult to understand.

Overall, Lever does what you need it to do when it comes to an ATS. I would recommend it for small and mid-sized companies; large companies would do better with a more established product that can handle robust amounts of data and customization.
After their latest update, Lever is pretty simple to use for beginners. Anyone who has used a different ATS system before - i.e. iCIMS or Greenhouse - will be able to use all of Lever's basic functions with ease. Furthermore, you can work with your customer support partner to add on customizable options that fit your organization's needs, although you will likely need to pay extra.
Lever does have some quirks. For instance, for whatever reason, you cannot insert linked text into the body of an email. It also has a lot of pop-up boxes that suggest fairly unhelpful tips frequently. Furthermore, in the newest version of Lever, you have to be careful with candidates applying to multiple roles (called "Opportunities" for whatever reason). It is really easy to reject/advance a candidate in the process for the wrong "Opportunity" if you aren't paying close attention and/or used to the way Lever used to function.

Over the last 9 years I've used Lever, Greenhouse, Workable, Taleo, Breezy, and Jobvite. Lever is hands-down my number 1 pick for its ease of use, its user interface, countless integrations, and efficient workflow. Lever has also been improving their reporting and analytics making their software a perfect fit for any start-up from a 10 person pre-series A to a 400 person series D/E company.
Lever was easy to implement (I had it up and running in less than 24 hours), the career page can be integrated with your current website quickly, the scorecards are fully customizable, and the ATS does a nice job at tracking candidates throughout the process.
At the moment, a user cannot edit the interview stages without submitting a ticket to Lever. I hope they change this in the near future.

Our hiring is much more streamlined; feedback and candidate resumes are centralized.
Lever is phenomenal! As an experienced Recruiter, I've used Lever, Greenhouse, and JazzHR, and Lever is by far my favorite! Lever can be implemented quickly and easily, and is a great price for the value. It's a very intuitive system and easy to use, thus ensuring 100% adoptability amongst employees and interviewers. The scheduling within Lever is easy, Feedback forms are straight forward, and the UI is sleek!
Like all other ATSs on the market, in order to get reporting to give any useful information, all jobs have to have the same stages.

It was ok. I've had better experiences with other ATS's however, Lever would be one of the top 3 out there.
Has most of the capabilities you need at a talent acquisition professional.
The customer support took quite long to get back to you if you needed to make any changes or had questions whereas an ATS like Greenhouse, has live chat. For a fast paced, high growth company, time is critical and having the ability to make changes on the fly is very important. You need to contact support to make any changes to your interview workflows. This was a very big pain point.

Based on the above am clearly not very happy. That said, I have only used Lever and Greenhouse (which is far far better). I feel like some negative grump leaving this review, but in 4 months I have wasted hours trying to get feature requests, figuring simple things out like specific plans for certain roles, only to find it literally isn't an option.I feel like they have given up on this, it could be so much better, get a small team with proper UI/UX skills and it could be a really good ATS.
It looks ok, isn't slow, I like the font.Customer service is actually good (although feature requests don't get completed).
No point in listing everything or I'll be here for days, I've already flagged them as feature requests months ago and not heard anything back. This ATS, whilst fast and not completely useless is just so painful in so many ways, the amount of illogical UX/UI that has been put into this is baffling - the main outstanding one being that jobs and candidates are kept in separate channels... what!?- Can't...

Lever is a very intuitive product, and takes the recruiting efforts of any organization to the next level. The interface is extremely user friendly, and helps streamline candidate experience. I don't really have anything negative to say about Lever, as I am a big proponent of all of it's functionalities. If I had to pick something, I would suggest that Lever start working with more job posting sites to enhance it's capabilities on the frontend. Blasting out job postings to Indeed and other top job sites, besides for just Glassdoor and LinkedIn (I think you can only do this if you purchase job posting slots from these sites), would be awesome. Right now I am using Built In NYC in additional to Lever to ensure I get the most bang for my buck in regards to driving inbound candidate flow.

Overall, this is a great software that continues to release new things - both big & small - to improve the workflows for its users! The team is dedicated to improving recruiting & company culture. At the very least, subscribe to their emails for some thoughtful content!
-First off, the sales & implementation teams are fantastic. I had a great experience during the sales process (which is why I chose them over Greenhouse) & Customer support representative from implementation (customer success) has continued to be a trusted partner even post-onboarding. -It's relatively easy to set up & manage ongoing updates. I pretty much built the entire thing when we switched from Jazz. While I have an implementation background, I'm no engineer, so kudos for making it easy to manage. -Hiring managers love it - esp. product & engineering! -The email templates are a life-changer. -The sync with Google calendar for rooms & availability is also a life-changer.
While overall, it's a fantastic product, there are a few very nitpicky items I'd love to see modified down the road: -More customization for job posts; there are a couple standard fields you can't change. -Ability to sort applicants by certain criteria, i.e. if they included a cover letter or link to portfolio. -Permission levels with more "pick & choose" customization. -Changing interview times, teams, and feedback forms could be easier. -Option to save commonly used filters -- for a super admin with access to all reqs, it can be a tad overwhelming, but I've hacked a good process with bookmarks!
