“Important to have accurate visual representations of the new environment a customer will have. It's not easy for everyone that's not a designer to 'see the vision' from a floor plan. 3D spacial diagrams and rendering helps bridge the gap and can make or break a job.Rendering can be amazing in 2020, but it can also be a total Pain in the A**. Auto lighting can be improved, as well as basic tool tips for those starting out who don't realize they need to create the environment as if it's a real one to have the best lighting & visuals.Maybe a 'default' setting with more than what's included in terms of rendering settings would be helpful for times when you just want to show a small kitchen and not spend 5 hours setting up lighting.”

“The rendering features are what help the client to visualize their space, this is critical to the sales process, if they cannot visualize it they will not want to buy it”

“I use the presentation tools in 2020 to present complete quotes to customers, but there could be improvements. Most of my customers prefer email communication and I have to spend a lot of time to create coherent PDF attachments - 2020 could improve this process”

SketchUp logo
SketchUp

Integration rating: 3.6 (11)

SketchUp allows me to create anything I can find a picture or description of, and then import it into 2020. Having my client see their grandma's antique hutch in their new kitchen space can be a powerful selling tool to help them see the project as their own.

I often need to find items the client is using in Sketchup. However the files are usually so large that 2020 starts crashing. Been an issue for a while now. Wish the developers could resolve this.

Because I can build a custom hood in sketchup and import that into 2020. I can also import better final touches such as seating, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and accessories.

There is a larger variety of tables, chairs, lighting fixtures, etc that help pull a room together and give it a more realistic view for clients.

Adding SketchUp items can make a 3D view look more realistic. It also helps with items that might otherwise be difficult to model in 2020.

I use it for hoods and lighting but there isn't enough on there to make it really useful

Q. What is Design Flex used for?

Design Flex is an architecture software that helps businesses design kitchen and bathroom spaces while generating photorealistic renders and 360° panoramic views on a unified interface. It provides content libraries, which include decorative items, manufacturer catalogs, paint finishes and textures from manufacturers such as Sherwin Williams, Alvic, Wilsonart and Uniboard. Designers use EZ Render to create renders with automated lighting or calibration effects, as well as material finishes. They can also present virtual spaces to clients through 2020 Virtual Reality (VR) Viewer. The application allows professionals to visualize walls, cabinets, windows and cathedrals across multiple designs. Designers can also generate perspective views for comparisons and print plans with details such as dimensions and labels. Custom doors, windows, frames, glasses, wall elevations, countertops for cabinets, faucets, sinks and surface textures can all be created and placed in designs. Design Flex offers a lighting wizard, which lets businesses visualize lighting over or under wall cabinets, calculate costs and place orders with manufacturers. Other features include room measuring application integration, pricing lists, proposal generation, annotations, 3D model import and more.

Design Flex is the only software in the industry to use our proprietary rendering engine, EZ Render. No more adding and adjusting lighting to get a realistic rendering. EZ Render automatically applies and calibrates the highest-quality lighting and true material finishes in a fraction of the time. That may sound great, but words don’t do this feature justice. In addition to EZ Render, Design Live will boost your presentations to the next level through:
Stunning visuals with the right lighting effects and realistic textures.
Fully immersive views with our 360° Panorama Multi-point feature.
Unique collaboration and sharing options.
More post-processing effects with new filters.
Let your clients explore their future space through a 3D panoramic experience or immerse them even further in your designs through Virtual Reality glasses. With the 360 Panorama Multi-point feature, you can display your designs from multiple perspectives.

Design Flex also makes sharing easy. Collaborate in real-time with your clients through the Live Share feature. And once they’re happy with the results, they’ll be able to post their 360 panoramic designs to social media to share with their friends.

Design Features
There’s nothing like Design Flex when it comes to design features.

Through our interface, you can draw walls, windows, cabinets and ceilings with ease. And our smart design wizards are always there to help you place items like toekicks, moldings, doors and windows. You can even customize surface materials.

But what really sets our design features apart is the way in which Design Live allows you to try multiple designs quickly and generate perspective views automatically — right from the plan. That means you can print plans with detailed dimensions and labels, ensuring you’re always on the same page as your installers and subcontractors.

Streamlined Process
Time is money. It’s an old adage, but one that's endured for a reason. To maximize the efficiency of your business operations, Design Live is streamlined to help designers make work processes flow as productively as possible.
