We started using Sumac to manage our youth programs that work with youth involved in the criminal justice system, and we’ve found it to be extremely helpful, reliable, and secure. When our funders required us to use a secure database for confidential client information, we researched Sumac and have never looked back.

Youth Outreach Worker

At times, the system can be a bit slow when multiple users are logged in, and some customization features (like form templates) require admin access or additional setup support.

It has improved how we document client interactions, manage referrals, and collect data across multiple programs.

It offers great customization capabilities that make it adaptable to different organizational needs.

The only issue we’ve encountered (easily resolved by an administrator) is that client files sometimes become locked, and staff cannot unlock them independently.

The software is secure and stable, with regular updates that improve performance. While it takes effort to master, the long-term value is excellent.

My background is in IT and Database Management, so I researched a lot of CRMs before settling on Sumac. Since 2015, Sumac has met and exceeded my expectations for reliability, ease of use, integrated membership forms, excellent communication options (including allowing for emails to be sent with attachments), and superior customer service in all departments (support, sales, customer service, and billing).

Sumac's highly customizable nature made adding new programs and features effortless.

There’s a bit of a learning curve at first, but the training resources and customer support make it manageable.

Actually, my one complaint is they changed the gift entry form and it is not nearly as flexible as the older form had been.

The fact that you can customize it to your programs.

Customization is great, but setting them up can be tricky without support.

I would not change a thing about how the profiles are built for client information.

Anytime that I have put in a service request, they respond within 24 hours, and have the issue resolved within the same amount of time.

Overall, Sumac is a reliable and flexible CRM for nonprofits.

Some updates conflicted with how we were used to using some features.

The Cloud based database combined with its data security allows each clubs data to be maintained separately and securely.

Implementing the system was completed within 3 months, including converting existing spread sheets and uploading them onto the database.

Each club maintains their own data which is visible only to them and to the organizations head office.

This mainly due to the Mac security system that is not always fully understood by the user.
