Amazon VPC overview

What is Amazon VPC?

Amazon VPC is a virtual private cloud solution that gives businesses complete control over the computing infrastructure by letting users provision a logically isolated section of the AWS cloud where they can launch AWS resources in a virtual network. Users can provision a variety of AWS resources within your VPC as if you were launching them outside AWS.

With Amazon VPC, users can use IP addresses from within your VPC to securely build applications and solutions that are isolated from the rest of the cloud environment. Your VPC will have an Internet gateway, allowing you to connect it to the external Internet. It also has routes to other AWS-managed infrastructure, such as an Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) service or an Amazon RDS instance. Users can create subnets and assign them unique IP address ranges, or share subnet ranges with other VPCs.
