Session timeouts and delays

Lead Software Engineer

One of the drawbacks I experienced with BrowserStack is the need to repeatedly log in to the app stores, particularly when a session expires.

Additionally, some users find the interface less intuitive for managing multiple test sessions.

58% of reviewers feel negative about Session Management. Reviewers indicate that session timeouts, slow startups, and limited parallel sessions can interrupt workflows and reduce productivity, especially during peak hours or long testing sessions. Users mention the inconvenience of having to repeatedly log in, sessions ending too quickly, and disruptions caused by session disconnections or device unavailability. They find managing multiple sessions less intuitive and note that session limits can restrict team efficiency.

Intermittent flakiness and crashes

50% of reviewers feel negative about Bugs and Issues. Users report encountering flakiness in automated tests, random session disconnections, and occasional crashes or freezes during testing. Reviewers mention that these issues can delay testing, require session restarts, and sometimes make debugging more difficult. Some users say that inconsistencies between sessions and device instability can lead to unreliable test results, necessitating repeated runs and extending the overall testing process.

Occasional lag and latency

Head of Quality and Delivery

Session start times can be slow, particularly on mobile devices and during peak hours, which disrupts testing flow.

QA Engineer

Live testing sometimes feels slow or laggy, and sessions may occasionally disconnect, which can interrupt the workflow.

85% of reviewers feel negative about Performance and Speed. Users frequently report experiencing lag, slow loading times, and session delays, especially during live testing on real devices or peak usage hours. Reviewers mention that latency can disrupt the testing flow, affect interaction smoothness, and make quick scenario checks less efficient. Some users say session start times and device responsiveness can be slow, particularly on older devices or with heavy applications, impacting overall productivity.

High cost for small teams

Software Test Engineer

The pricing, especially for higher plans or add-ons like parallel testing, can feel a bit expensive for small teams or individuals.

Test Lead

For small startups or individual developers, the pricing tiers can be a barrier.

48% of reviewers feel negative about Pricing. Users frequently mention that BrowserStack’s pricing structure can be expensive, particularly for small teams, startups, or individual developers. Reviewers say costs increase with the need for more parallel sessions, users, or advanced features, and that the lack of flexible payment options or pay-as-you-go plans can be a barrier. Some users feel the value is justified for larger organizations, but smaller teams may struggle to fit it into their budgets.

Significant time savings

System analyst

Senior Software Engineer

it offers a variety of features from mobile devices to test, manage reports and integration with tools like jira and CI/CD pipelines

software developer

Overall, BrowserStack is a reliable and convenient testing platform that improves productivity and simplifies cross-platform testing. Despite minor issues with session stability and support response time, it remains a valuable tool for teams looking for an easy-to-use and cost-effective cloud testing solution.

Software Developer

BrowserStack solves both by giving us real-device/browser coverage without maintaining our own infrastructure and, more importantly, by providing actionable test health insights through Test Observability.

What I like most about BrowserStack is its ability to provide instant access to a wide range of real devices and browsers without the need for maintaining physical infrastructure.

Senior Test Automation Engineer

Overall, BrowserStack has been a valuable part of our test automation strategy, particularly for scaling UI and end-to-end testing across regions and devices. While there are occasional pain points around observability and configuration clarity, the platform delivers strong reliability and flexibility.

Testing COE Head

It helps with capabilities such as centralized test management, AI-driven test case generation, advanced analytics, and real-device mobile testing are limited.

I can instantly see every build's test status with color-coded breakdowns (green for passed, red for failed, pink for flaky), exact failure categories like "To be investigated", and session durations.

The automation saved my so many hours of repetitive work by running tests in the background, and the session management was a lifesaver because I can record sessions take scheenshot if required, replay, and share sessions with my team to fix issues quickly without any problem.

Senior Quality Engineer

The breadth of real devices available for testing across devices provides valuable automated functional and visual regression testing that is not possible using only developer tools like chrome.

Senior IT Support and Network Engineer

In day-to-day usage, I have noticed occasional lag during live sessions and slight delays when switching between devices or browsers, automation runs can sometimes face sessions drops under load, pricing can feel a bit on the higher side in terms of value for money for long-term scaling, and while customer support is helpful, resolution for more technical or environment-specific issues can take time.

Software Engineer

The support for different mobile test SDKs is more limited than it first appears: while you can technically write tests in XCUITest and espresso, some features (e.g. Jenkins integration) seem to only be possible on other testing frameworks such as Appium.

SDET II

What I liked most about BrowserStack is its real device cloud—it lets you test on actual mobile devices and browsers instantly without maintaining any infrastructure, which saves a lot of time and gives more reliable results than emulators.
