I am a PC gamer, and have used games that run on Unreal Engine for quite some time

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

I love gaming, I love games that run on Unreal Engine. As a PC gamer, the quality of games and how they run is very important to me, and games built on the Unreal engine are beautiful!

Cons

Nothing. I've never had an issue with games built on the Unreal engine. I have heard people say that it uses a lot of resources but I've never had that issue.

Real Time Game Development Engine

Reviewed 2 years ago

Everything was straight forward. The interface looked easy and amazing from the beginning.

Pros

I like Unreal because of the access to high quality assets. Not only that, being a software with many good developers to release updates and improve the software through providing blueprints to non coders, Unreal is the ideal Game Dev Software. One amazing thing is that it supports all formats from other 3D modelling software. Another thing i like about Unreal is the wide communities willing to support beginners into the Game Dev world

Cons

Nothing is impossible with Unreal but only when one has a high end machine.

Perfect Even for Begineers

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

I was able to do a majority of the functions that we needed with the blueprints scripting feature. This made it easier for even our art teams to digest the info at a glance without knowing about coding.

Cons

There's a percentage royalty that they ask for on your released projects and some other tools don't ask for that.

A more professional game engine for large game projects.

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Compared to Unity which is popular for mobile game developing, Unreal is used frequently for triple-A game developing, for example, Final Fantasy XV and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. According to my experience, the most thing I like about Unreal is its light and shadow renderer. It is vivid and life-like. It can make my game approximates reality as much as possible. So Unreal is really suitable for developing open world game which demands a high quality of graphics.

Cons

We have to use C++ for scripting in Unreal. C++ is a more difficult language to master compared to C# or javascript in Unity scripting. There are a lot of concepts like pointers which demands a lot of time to learn and a deep understanding of computer science. This is a little difficult for non-Computer Science major.

The Best Tool for Game Development

Reviewed 4 years ago

I highly enjoy this engine and all of the features it provide for game development. The best part is they have a free trial!

Pros

This is the best game engine on the market and is extremely user friendly. All the latest AAA Title studios are using this system and using it shows why.

Cons

I have been using unreal and only have one complaint about how builds are made, could be a bit more optimized for choosing graphic settings on options.

Unreal Engine - Everything a budding 3D Artist needs

Reviewed 6 years ago

100 positive experience. They consistently refine the software, making it easier and easier to use. And they develop a wealth of tutorials and assets to get people developing quickly.

Pros

Basically the best thing about this software is that it gives you everything you need, be an individual or a 300 man team, to make top quality games. There is no cut down package, and Epic games are constantly updating it and making it easier to use.

Cons

I'm not sure what to really say here.. I have some issues with the animation setup. things can be a bit convoluted. And their material setup is not for the faint hearted.. But these are small things that are constantly being improved.

Il miglior software per la creazione di videogiochi

Reviewed a year ago
Pros

3D game development tools and what to look for

Reviewed 2 years ago

I had a good experience using unreal I even created a few hyper casual games from it.

Pros

Since I've used the product when it was called unreal editor, I like that you can rapidly make prototypes test your design and then change it to fit the needs of development. Plus you can use pre-made models or import characters and landscapes from Maya.

Cons

The one thing I noticed that the blueprint design can get out of hand very quickly if you do not set it up correctly.

Game Design in Anyone's Hands

Reviewed 5 years ago

Whether you are curious and would like to learn game design at your own pace or you are a start up who is looking to either break into the mobile and pc gaming market, Unreal Engine is the tool that you can use. Their pay schedule is more than reasonable and makes creating, marketing, and releasing a game a very real possibility for anyone with a computer fast enough to run it and the creativity and drive to dream and build it.

Pros

The Unreal Engine is massive and impressive and available for anyone to use. It's amazing to me that the creators of this game engine have managed to package it in a way that allows it to be accessible to beginners, while still being a massive tool for commercial designers who use it to the fullest of its capabilities. On top of a truly immense functionality, the Unreal Engine also comes with all of the learning tools you could need and a ready community of users and support to aid in learning and creativity. It's an entire virtual nation of its own, and is truly impressive.

Cons

The Unreal Engine is HUGE. So, if you don't have the equipment to run it, you will either have lag time and sluggish processing, or it won't be able to run at all. Even so, most computers today, are capable of handling the processing power required to launch and use Unreal Engine. It's only the older machines that struggle or are out of reach.

Best Place to Begin Game Development

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall, Unreal Engine provides useful features that make game development easier and more efficient. It does require a lot of resources from your end in terms of computer performance and time to learn the software, but if you put in the time it will be very worth it.

Pros

Unreal Engine makes game development a breeze for developers. There are a lot of robust tools that enhance your experience and help you start implementing ideas quickly without much pain.

Cons

There is a learning curve and sometimes the software can be buggy. It's hard to navigate because of the massive amount of features but if taken the time to learn, it can be a valuable asset to your development project.

Great company, Great products, Great Service.... Great

Reviewed 7 years ago

Great software this engine exports for a big range of platforms including Linux. The editor can be run on Windows, MacOS, and Linux (Early Access).

Pros

Epic provides multiple official video tutorials, lots of free example projects and content, an extensive wiki and regular streams showing how to use latest features. Almost everything a game developer wants has a deep and sophisticated tool waiting for them in UE4. No external plugins are needed to make powerful materials, FX, terrain, cinematics, gameplay logic, AI, animation graphs, post process effects, lighting etc.

Cons

This engine not easy for beginners. Making a full rebuild, including engine can take a good 30minutes. If you plan to use Unreal professionally, you better get some licenses for Incredibuild as well.

Graphics Powerhouse

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Using the built in shaders and tools already offered by Unreal will give you a huge edge in graphics for your project. It also allows us to quickly iterate on ideas and have a prototype within a day for the most basic of ideas.

Cons

The licensing cost of Unreal Engine is higher than most of the other solutions so it's really having to weigh what we need for our project and our budget.

Unreal Engine for Game and Mod Creation

Reviewed 3 years ago

When creating mods for Ark: Survival Evolved this is the main option you use and it made it extremely easy to do.

Pros

The amount of features included in Unreal Engine are extremely rich. There are so many options to create or just customize an already built character or map that you can get lost in it for hours.

Nothing, every aspect of this program I genuinely enjoyed using.

Amazing gaming desinging software

Reviewed 6 years ago

Working with unreal engine might not be the easiest thing you'll ever do, but if you get the hang of it, the game's quality is second to none, you will produce amazing content with lower effort than other platforms. I just recommend you get a good pc with a lot of memory for you to get the most out of this amazing software.

Pros

One thing that I really love about unreal engine is how many tutorials are online, it can have a steep learning curve, but if you invest some time learning the ropes, you can produce incredible content, there is a reason why this game engine is dominating the game industry.

Cons

This software is really heavy and demands a lot of power from my pc. Also is worth noting that since games created with unreal have such an amazing quality, even the smallest games are really heavy and take a lot of disk space.

Simulated environment creator

Reviewed 2 years ago

It is a well-known tool in the gaming industry, but it is possible to use it to create simulated environments within any scenario or industry for product presentation.

Pros

One of the best game creation tools is also used to create simulated environments, I believe it is one of the easiest tools to use and when you have difficulty, it's very easy to find help.

Cons

The entire tool is in English, so it's difficult to use it if you don't have a little understanding of the language.
