Attorney 

The next best thing is that for lawyers on a shoestring budget it is affordable and secure because it can be run off the cloud. So I give it two thumbs up for price, accessibility and price.

The Quickbooks connector is great and the Evernote integration is also a big plus. After reviewing all our other options, Houdini ESQ seemed like the best and least expensive place to start and grow.

It is easy to use and helps make our firm run smoothly. I am a paralegal here at the firm and for me, Houdini is wonderful because it helps me keep the attorneys on track.

I use it primarily for case management and invoicing. The great thing about this software is that the interface just makes sense, and it is feature rich and comprehensive.

Legal counsel

Sometimes it looses some of my cases especially if someone else has made the case and then appointed it to me. The search field is usually not working.

It has all of TimeMatters features and a whole lot more. And the best thing of all, it is FREE for solos like myself.

Of Counsel

The software works great and learning your way around takes little time. The program is great for tracking case progress and meeting deadlines.

Hudini was a good match for my firm because it allowed me to download it an test it with a single user for free. The configuration was a little bit complicated but the tech support was very helpful.

Lack of a functioning document automation/assembly system and lack of quickbooks integration.

The customer service is excellent and it is obvious that all employees and member care deeply about their service and product.

Getting our data transferred from QuickBooks Pro into Houdini was the biggest hurdle; but Eric and Kevin from HoudiniESQ were both great help in walking us through the transition.

Not so many companies will go the extra mile to save one from themselves especially after having failed to heed their explicit warnings.

It's difficult to switch from one area of a file to another area (ie documents to billing and back to contacts). The web URL is complicated so if you don't have it bookmarked you're screwed.

Plus, the price can't be beat. For a sole-proprietor like me, the fact that the program is offered free of charge for a one-seat account, was a big selling point when I was opening up my law firm.

I finally discovered that I would first have to start up the file "HoudiniESQ_start" to fix this error.

I have lost a lot of money and clients due to using Leap.

Some of its  funcitons do not work on some computers. I have 2 up to date high spec Laptops that Leap have tried  (but failed) get it to work properly on.

The software is limited to only exporting 100 files at a time so if you have a decent client file then you need to ring and ask Leap if they can export. The answer is that they can but for $4,000.

It did not integrate well with MS Outlook, MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat. It had multiple glitches, and the LEAP software deactivated features I used in MS Office and Adobe.
