I switched from Mailchimp to Mailerlite many years ago because Mailerlite had better campaign management features and better automation. I check in with Mailchimp on occasion, and it seems they’ve caught up to Mailerlite. I truly liked Mailchimp’s interface better, but it’s unlikely I’ll switch back after so many years.
Mailchimp had been lacking some automation features I needed.

While I originally chose Mailchimp for the quality, I ended up leaving for MailerLite and feel I'm getting a much better value and ROI with MailerLite.
I used Mailchimp for years and LOVED it, but moved away this last year when my subscriber list necessitated a higher-tiered plan. For many years it provided exactly what I needed (some of the time, at zero cost to me!). Their analytics are some of the very best, and since leaving I miss those. I also miss the quality of their features and overall design integrity. It felt very easy to send out a great-looking email.
Last year I started paying for my subscription list (which was fine) but as it grew quickly, I realized their plans (even the lowest tier paid plan) were jumping in price astronomically as my numbers increased. I was going to need to start paying around $80 a month for standard features and it just wasn't a good fit for me anymore. At the time of their rebrand, they changed their backend UI and it felt quite a bit LESS intuitive (it may be in part that I was so used to the old dashboard look). Though they have slick branded graphics, I don't think their icons or dashboard layout are very user-friendly. One of the only big integration fails I experienced was their Woocommerce integration (via Wordpress plugin) which didn't really work well at all during my time using it.

I used to use MailChimp before switching to mailerlite
Integration with several third party software applications.
The price is steep, and the included features are minimal compared to other providers.

Mailchimp is simple to use. The drag and drop editor is great. I've taught employees to use it with a very small learning curve.
The pricing isn't the best. MailerLite offers similar functionality for much cheaper. However, I'd still argue MailChimp is better.

I used Mailchimp for abour 3 years and found to be easy to use, intuitive, and pretty visually pleasing in its interface.
I was on the free version, so I couldn't send out automated emails - this was what caused me to switch to MailerLite.

Straightforward in how to send email campaigns. Good tutorials and help articles when you get stuck. Free version is fine for basic usage.
Segmentation is not as simple as many other platforms. Reports are also a little vague in certain areas. Prefer MailerLite for a better "free" value.

Overall Mailchimp has been a good mass mail system for our practice. We are not tied to it however and may switch if the marketing automation elsewhere becomes more appealing.
Mass mailing is always a difficult process fraught with risk - mailchimp's system made this a non-issue.
marketing automations can sometimes be a pain. they lack a forward thinking approach and from this i believe the alternative providers like Mailerlite do it better.

My experience with Mailchimp was quite negative when I used it several years ago. It's likely that they've made updates since competitors like MailerLite have come along, but their customer service team has been subpar in the past. For entrepreneurs looking for an affordable option with loads of features, I highly recommend MailerLite or even ConvertKit.
One of the primary reasons I used Mailchimp for my email newsletters was because they offered a free plan if you had 500-1,000 subscribers. At the time, I thought it was a generous plan albeit pretty thin on features.
The plans Mailchimp offers users are quite spendy when compared to competitors like MailerLite. They have a free plan but it does not offer autoresponders or trigger events which I will argue are essential if you're trying to turn your email subscribers into customers. Navigating their user interface is also a chore when you're trying to set up an autoresponder sequence or import email lists from another email program.

Easy to use, much like MailerLite. They give you a decent selection of templates and offer the product at no cost up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails. Not bad.
It took me a little while to figure out how to resize, totally not their fault, just used to using a different program.

Mailchimp allows you to customize your subscribe forms and makes it easy to divide you list into groups. It's simple to use their template to create a simple Newsletter even if you're not tech savvy and it's free if you have fewer than 2000 subscribers.
It's more expensive than Mailerlite and the forms aren't as intuitive. Also, inserting pictures or media into your newsletters is a little tricky if you have to resize them.

It was fine, nothing super special. I find with the popularity it has taken away from where it first started to now being a big-time business. TO get started quickly it is fine, but there are better options out there with value.
It's a great suite of features that has stood the test of time. You will get lots of use out of it and it will suffice to feed content to your subscriber group with lots of options
It's a bit mundane to see countless emails coming from Mailchimp, but it's because the software works. However, I have found Mailerlite to be much friendlier to my use and operations

We tried it for around 2 years as it was a good alternative value wise but switched to MailerLite as it is much easier to use and learn.
It seems to be one of the most used mail programs and hence the reason why we chose to use it. It is powerful and free to start.
It is a very hard to learn program. We followed instructions, tutorials and yet the software is very convoluted and not intuitive at all. We switched to a new one called MailerLite.

It's easy to use. I really like that; I could get something going to our distribution lists and manage all of our subscribers easily and fairly quickly. The designs and templates are well-constructed and the drag and drop interface is lovely. It's also a widely-used platform now and seems to integrate well with most servers. I like the reports manager as well.
The price increased and we began to look for other Software. WE ended up finding MailerLite, which has many similar editing and management features for a much, much more affordable subscription.

As I stated, it's great for first-time users, people with small mailing lists, and those who just want a simple CRM. Once it's starts getting into more advanced features, the functionality isn't 100% there, but if you're patient you can teach yourself tons of work-arounds to make MailChimp work for you.
It's free for up to a certain amount of subscribers and there isn't an approval process (like MailerLite) for instance. It's pretty straightforward and shouldn't be too intimidating for someone who is new to CRM.
I'm having difficulty setting up automatic monthly emails and had to pull some tricks out of my sleeve and watch tons of YouTube videos to find a work-around. It seems second nature to have a feature like this available, and unless it is with a paid version, it is something they certainly need to add. Overall, basic emails are simple but for more advanced functionality, trial and error is in your future.
