HeatShield overview
What is HeatShield?
HeatShield is a heat compliance management software designed to support organizations in adhering to federal occupational safety standards and state heat illness prevention codes. The platform is tailored for field crews in sectors such as construction, landscaping, agriculture and municipal services operating within jurisdictions that enforce state heat regulations. The application functions as a mobile-first progressive web solution providing continuous jobsite monitoring, automated risk classification updates and audit-ready documentation. Supervisors are able to initiate and configure monitoring sessions aligned with specific regulatory requirements without manual data entry.
The system performs environmental risk assessment based on Wet Bulb Globe Temperature calculations rather than simple ambient readings. It incorporates factors such as temperature, humidity, wind, workload intensity, clothing attributes, radiant heat and individual worker acclimatization status in its evaluation. Supervisors set start times, workday schedules and check intervals in accordance with state heat illness prevention mandates and the platform evaluates conditions during active monitoring periods. When risk categories change, the system updates classifications automatically, issues notifications to supervisors and adjusts protective guidance without manual intervention. Logging capabilities include incident records linked to active sessions and searchable histories of monitoring logs, alert transitions and training records. Monthly compliance packets compile monitoring data, alert logs, training documentation and acclimatization records into inspection ready reports.
The platform integrates with indoor climate hardware via a sensor application programming interface that accepts live temperature and humidity data from WiFi enabled sensors supporting custom HTTP post endpoints. Administrators manage per site API credentials to ensure secure data transmission. Live sensor readings and staleness indicators displayed in the dashboard feed directly into Wet Bulb Globe Temperature calculations to enforce indoor heat thresholds of eighty two degrees Fahrenheit and eighty seven degrees Fahrenheit as required by certain state regulations. Timestamped indoor records are generated for audit purposes. Compatibility with sensors such as Monnit ALTA gateway devices provides out of the box integration for regulated indoor environments.
An integrated training module delivers an OSHA aligned course composed of eleven lessons designed for both employees and supervisors working in high heat environments. The course features bite sized knowledge checks, video content and an interactive certification quiz accessible on desktop and mobile devices. Learner progress is tracked and certificates of completion are issued upon successful course completion. State specific disclosure documents in multiple languages require worker acknowledgement before training initiation and all acknowledgement records are stored for compliance reporting. Supervisors access training seats data and certificate records through the platform’s reporting dashboard.
