MOX overview

What is MOX?

MOX is a web-based, calibration software that combines advance automated calibration capabilities, industry-leading uncertainty modeling, and metrology engineering tools with cutting-edge laboratory workflow and asset management.

The system integrates seamlessly with the MOX2GO mobile application and the MOX Customer Portal to provide a single, comprehensive solution that will take your metrology processes to a new level of performance and efficiency.

Enterprise-level system and state of the art tools allow users to manage multiple calibration laboratories and track MT&E across the organization.

The intuitive and easy-to-use interface provides users with a simple one-step process for receiving multiple assets and creating corresponding work orders. Features like user configurable row highlighting and the ability to easily sort and filter primary screen views, including customers, work order, assets and so forth, give users an instant window into their entire operation and simplify work assignment, balancing workload by technician or laboratory type, updating work order status, and creating shipping documents for returning assets to customers.

MOX FEATURES:

• Comprehensive financial tools for generating quotes and creating invoices.

• Comprehensive outsourcing tools that allow users to track vendor calibrations and manage vendor accreditation, ensuring that equipment is outsourced to qualified vendors only.

• The web-based customer portal allows laboratory customers to view and manage their calibration records and track the status of their assets when out for calibration.

• The MOX Interface Manager, a powerful tool with a standard set of APIs, provides MOX data to ERP and other external systems based on defined criteria. For example, when a new calibration certificate is issued in MOX, the Interface Manager will automatically update the ERP or other external systems to reflect the change. The MOX Interface Manager is also used to run scheduled tasks such as sending automatic e-mail notifications for assets coming due for calibration.

• A powerful mobile application (MOX2GO) that provides users real-time access to critical calibration information and allows technicians to perform field maintenance using an iOS mobile phone or tablet.

UNCERTAINTY SIMPLIFIED:

The MOX state-of-the-art features automate many metrology-engineering tasks that greatly simplify the process of performing uncertainty analysis and creating uncertainty budgets. MOX automatically calculates uncertainty (EMU) and test ratios (TAR/TUR) using specifications and other parameters from a test instrument’s set point, standards, and measurement system configuration.

The system supports multiple pre-assigned standards that can be selected at the time of calibration; the actual uncertainty and test ratios reflect the selected standard. One of MOX’s advanced features allows users to create instrument specification files in a database format, with accuracy specifications organized by function and range limits.

These instrument specifications are used by the system to calculate accuracy and uncertainty for calibration standards. Using the MOX instrument specification’s function and range limit data, MOX can automatically assign the most accurate qualifying instrument range for calibration standards to the data sheet test points.

The MOX electronic instrument specifications can be assigned as default/alternate calibration standards and automatically integrated into the test point uncertainty models.

The MOX default uncertainty model automatically and dynamically creates and updates uncertainty elements for each of the following:

• Standard deviation of calibration samples (Type A)

• MetSpec instrument calibration standards (Type B)

• Measurement resolution (Type B)

• Measurement repeatability (Type B)

Users can disable any of the automatic features and manually create and modify uncertainty elements.

Key benefits of using MOX

• ROBUST ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE MANAGEMENT
The MOX enterprise organization management function provides a graphical tree-view of your organization that can be configured to include all relevant organizational entities, such as business units and calibration facilities. This allows users to configure MOX to conform to their organizational structure, making it possible to grant or limit access and easily configure user permissions within the organization.

• SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE
Each record is protected with MOX security and robust audit trails that identify each time a calibration record is edited, along with the delta between the new and old versions of the records, with a username and date/time stamp. Every aspect of MOX, including tiered access permissions and security, is designed to simplify compliance with quality and accreditation standards including ISO/IEC-17025:2017; ANSI/NCSL Z-540-1; ANSI/NCSL Z540.3; 21 CFR Part 11 and 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B.

• USER DASHBOARDS
User dashboards give technicians real-time overview of critical information about the calibration laboratory’s workflow and provide management with transparency and easy oversight into the organization’s calibration activities and overall readiness.

• AUTOMATIC RECALL NOTIFICATION
Automatic notification of assets coming due for calibration can be easily customized using the MOX Interface Manager. The recall notifications can be configured for individual customer requirements, including recipient, timing, and frequency of notifications.

• DYNAMIC AUTOMATED TEST EQUIPMENT (ATE) SCRIPTING SYSTEM
The MOX automation scripting system is a powerful tool with many advance features that simplifies the automation of the most complex calibration procedures. Features include:
• Control of automated test equipment via GPIB, RS-232, USB, and Ethernet.
• Dynamic display of instructions with Images during calibration.
• Wizards for complex command configurations.
• Reusable script modules that greatly simplify automation scripting.

• FINE-GRAINED REVERSE TRACEABILITY TO PINPOINT OUT-OF-TOLERANCE IMPACTS

MOX performs reverse traceability for calibration standard range usage to identify specific calibration test points that might be potentially impacted by a calibration standard that fails calibration.

• INDEPENDENT REFERENCE DATA FOR “AS FOUND” AND “AS LEFT” MEASUREMENTS
MOX measurements have a child relationship to test points, allowing each measurement to have independent references such as Reference (True) Value, tolerance, standards used, and uncertainty model. This also allows users to change calibration standards during a calibration without affecting measurements already made.

• COM SERVER APPLICATIONS
MOX communicates with component object model (COM) server applications, allowing users to incorporate custom plugins or other applications such as Microsoft Excel into MOX calibrations.

• AUTOMATIC GUARD BANDING
MOX provides the option to automatically implement one of its supported guard banding methods (NCSLI RP-10, ANSI Z540.3, RSS) at the configured risk threshold. Test Ratios (TAR/TUR), Estimated Measurement Uncertainty (EMU), and Risk are all based on the actual standards used when performing the calibration. Guard banding decisions are made dynamically based on the conditions present at the time of the actual measurement.

• AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF “OUT OF TOLERANCE” CONDITIONS
MOX automatically computes and graphically displays the relationship of the measured values to reference value, tolerance, and guard band indeterminate region, when applicable. MOX also indicates the percentage of the tolerance band consumed by the deviation between the measured and reference values.
