Complex access management

Lead Software Engineer

I understand the need for various levels of security, but between tokens and keys and permissions, it's been a big headache. Once you are connected, you need to know the table relationships before you can begin writing code to exchange data.

Tableau Developer & Data Lead

The security roles are a bit cumbersome to set up and use.

49% of reviewers feel negative about NetSuite’s security and access control. Users say managing roles, permissions, and account types is confusing and time-consuming, especially for administrators. Reviewers indicate that setting up secure access for different users or integrating with other systems can be overwhelming. They report that password policies, role switching, and access reviews are cumbersome, and some find the process of granting or changing permissions tedious. Many users mention that lack of clarity in access controls can lead to operational challenges and user frustration.

Cumbersome transaction handling

52% of reviewers feel negative about NetSuite’s transactions and payments. Users report that processing payments, refunds, and complex transactions is often difficult and unintuitive. Reviewers indicate that essential features like split payments, alternative payment method refunds, and approval workflows are missing or require costly add-ons. They say integration with external payment platforms can be unreliable, and managing billing or vendor payments may involve manual workarounds. Many users feel that the system’s limitations in transaction handling create inefficiencies and additional costs.

Frequent slowdowns and lag

Database Administrator

The slow speed of basic actions, such as opening a customer record for viewing or editing makes life difficult.

79% of reviewers feel negative about NetSuite’s performance and speed. Users report frequent slow load times, lag when processing large datasets, and sluggish navigation between modules. Reviewers indicate that customizations, complex workflows, and system updates often exacerbate delays, impacting productivity. They say running reports or handling transactions can be time-consuming, and even basic actions may require waiting. Many users mention that performance issues persist despite high-speed internet or upgraded hardware, making daily operations less efficient and sometimes frustrating.

Persistent bugs and errors

Senior Accountant

First party add-on modules are NEVER fixed for bugs - things like sorting by name only sort the current page and not the entire population - report to NS and I hear crickets.

68% of reviewers feel negative about NetSuite’s bugs and issues. Users report encountering frequent bugs, error messages, and system glitches that disrupt workflows. Reviewers indicate that support for resolving technical problems is often slow or ineffective, with some bugs remaining unaddressed for extended periods. Many users express frustration with the lack of timely fixes, unreliable integrations, and the need for repeated explanations to support teams.

High and unpredictable costs

Managing Director

Moreover, the pricing structure for essential features such as payroll and profit and loss by jobs was not made clear upfront, leading to unexpected costs that strained our budget.

69% of reviewers feel negative about NetSuite’s pricing. Users say the software is expensive, with high subscription fees, costly customizations, and frequent add-on charges for essential features. Reviewers indicate that unexpected price hikes during contract renewals and unclear pricing structures strain budgets, especially for small businesses.
