Jira, the best agile tool ever

In my last Job I used Jira to have all the control of workteam, We had more tools like fisheye and slack, we used to use plugin to send information from Slack to Jira and we could Close task from Slack, wonderful, may the only detail is the learning curve to make the most of the tool.

Pros

Powerful, Complete, Easy to syn with another platforms like Slack, Fisheye, etc.

Cons

Harder to use compared with Trello, Lil' expensive.

Good features let down by a difficult hard to use UX

Integrates well with other tools including slack and visual studio online

Pros

On the plus side, it integrates brilliantly with Slack our team communication tool of choice.

Cons

The UX changes on a fairly frequent basis and from experience not in a good way. It is still quite difficult after a year of using it to remember where things are because the controls are not as intuitive as they should be. There are a number of bugs with how the UI displays (particularly in swimlane kanban mode) and although it has fault reporting options, you don't feel that any changes you suggest or bugs you report are used. Confluence often feels like a poor persons version of sharepoint (which is not a recommendation) as it feels clunky creating pages, sections or defining navigation. The query tools are a bit like sql and partially fill in with suggestions but can be fiddly for the BA to create. This is a tool I would really like to recommend given how trendy it is but sadly after a year using I can't because whilst it's features are excellent it lacks ease of use.

I have a distributed team for building custom software for start ups. JIRA is at the heart of all those operations keeping everybody together and on the same page. I don't even know what a commit without an issue key looks like anymore. :D

- many integrations - connects seamlessly with bitbucket and slack - highly scalable - good permission configurations

Pros

Makes it easy to create tickets, prioritize in a backlog, and also integrates well with many other services like slack.

Also easy to integrate with other platforms such as Slack and Moqups.

Pros

Once you get the hang of Jira then you realise that it's actually pretty easy to use. It really helps me to effectively manage the work of an offshore team, and work rarely gets missed or overlooked. Online support time if you have a problem is quick and the answers are often pretty good.

Cons

It's hard to get started and requires a few weeks of regular use before you start to feel confident that you're using it properly. It also doesn't look very nice from a visual UI point of view and I find the reports hard to digest. You definitely need someone else in the team to show you how to use Jira in order to get the most out of it.

I have an overall good experience with Jira, to the extent that I am using Jira for all planning in the company - also non-technical planning. It is good to have a tool that works combines technology with the business to give you a holistic view. All epics and stories, technical or not can be tied to the same initiative or theme.

Pros

It integrates well with other applications such as Confluence and Slack.

Cons

If I had to give an area for improvement it would be to add more issue types such as Initiative and Theme - though this is easy enough to add by yourself.

Pros

Also have integrated it with concourse and slack to automatically pick up the ticket title from the done column to generate a list of done tasks and post them to Slack.

Cons

TONS of features. There’s so many features that it’s a bit overwhelming. Also some parts of the app can be glitchy. Not sure if the team is constantly pushing updates to the UI but sometimes I have to search for certain fields because it’s not in the same spot that I last saw it.

My most indispensable business tool

Pros

The ability to not only communicate with everyone I work with, from colleagues to external clients to vendors, as well as to integrate the information I need and use the most (JIRA tickets, software deployments, new sales leads, etc) directly into the message stream is amazing and saves so much time.

Cons

No major gripes. Only quirk I can think of right now that drives me nuts is the inability to share images/files within a thread (you have to share them to the main channel or DM conversation).
