Visual Studio is a great beginner-friendly development tool which provides the best debugging features, work flow templates, and Gui for efficient coding experience.
As mentioned before, Microsoft's visual studio has great comparison feature and debugging features. I frequently use the code comparison for code merging and to compare the code between different environments. It is very efficient to catch errors using the inbuilt debugging feature in visual studio.
The least I like about Microsoft visual studio is the collaboration is only really quick if its other Microsoft tools.
