Overall, it is exactly what I wanted and it is cheaper than Microsoft Project.
It basically does everything that Microsoft Project does but it is significantly cheaper. It also has helpful visual dynamics that you give you a brief overview of how each project is doing.
They license per-user which can become tedious when you have various people coming in and out of various projects.

The collaboration features and reminders make this an incredible tool for collaborative sheets. Inviting people to edit certain cells means that you can manage a project without having to worry about unwanted changes.
Smartsheet doesn't integrate well with Office 365 or Google Workspace, making it very difficult to make the switch from the included software suite.

Tracking, planning and managing projects & tasks are the main benefits that I relish from Smartsheet.
With Smartsheet, I am able to create and assign tasks automatically. Tracking time and expenses on projects is also at breeze for 24/7/365.
Smartsheet has proven to be a real-game changer since it has zero errors at the moment.

I really like how straight forward the interface and navigation is with smartsheet. The support articles and forums are really helpful in getting new users acclimated to the smartsheet environment.
I find that the cost is a bit high given the fact that there are limitations to the program. I can get an Office 365 subscription with Excel for cheaper than their monthly individual user pricing.

For small business, affordable and versatile software that allows a team running in ten directions at once to stay on the same sheet of music and not miss a beat is an invaluable resource.
We are a video production company. Our small business needed software that could manage numbers, tasks and information in an affordable, user-friendly, sharable format. We get the muscle of spreadsheets with broad functionality for our office manager, multifaceted task management versatility of visually-rich Gantt charts for our producers, real-time multi-user file sharing, and the ability to access our projects and information remotely on location via our smartphones. We can create forms to amass customer information at trade shows; share files or sections of documents with clients; add photos, links, and conversations to ongoing tasks; and set important files up to be automatically backed up. Smartsheet is the busy creative team's dream!
On the very rare occasion that there is a server issue and the software is down, we whine like petulant children. We have come to rely on Smartsheet as it puts everything at our fingertips 24/7/365. We are spoiled and we know it!

Smartsheet is a conceptually great service competing head to head with Microsoft Project 365. I believe annual contracts for the service should be available at a much reduced rate. In our business environment every penny counts, and recurring expenses are the nemesis of budgeting.
Feature rich product in an easy to use the frame. Subscription services for software are a very effective way to get tools into the hands of businesses quickly.

- Easy to track work tasks, the time it takes to complete them and the ability to collaborate with team members -Streamlined tool, easy to use right away and see an immediate impact -Add ons for Office 365 which makes sending emails to a work task steamlined
At times it could be more robust with some of its offerings, but in contrast the straightforward ability to use this work management tool is a welcomed attribute. Programs can become too complex that users aren't willing to spend 4 hours just learning how to use them. SmartSheet is a great tool that can be used by anyone.

Did not find Smartsheet to differentiate enough.
Initially the collaboration features were a draw. Being able to request updates from other team members was helpful. There are some additional features beyond standard Excel / Google sheets, such as reporting and visualizations such as gantt charts.
Unfortunately most of the time we were using functionality that was already present in Excel / Google. Once Office 365 came around, there really wasn't a lot of justification for continuing to us Smartsheet. There are some diehards in the company that swear by it, however for my use case, it wasn't as meaningful.

Overall this is a great product to keep our Implementation team on track with our goals. We're able to create multiple sheets and link them to each other. I love being able to more visually see where our team is at and export all of this info to our Office 365 products.
-Extremely flexible tool for Project Management -Doesn't seem to be a limit to what you can use it for -Allows individuals and teams to work on projects together - keeping everyone up to date -Integrates well with Office 365 -Permissions are very flexible - able to give different users different access to view/edit
-Can't format in cell -Notifications seem to be delayed -Attachments aren't easily visible in the sheet

None that I know of. We didn’t end up using the software after all the demo because they were not well suited for our needs.
Heavy on the sales side. The smart sheet team had convinced my marketing team this was a replacement for MS project. I had to save them from making this decision as it’s not even close. Lacking in security and integration with office 365. Data can not be extracted making it difficult to get out of once started.

We’ve used the collaboration aspect of this program so often that it becomes second nature, especially when out in the field. The mobile app is used almost more than the desktop because we’re often on the go. The maintenance has caused a few issues in the past, but we’ve learned to work around them.
We love the mobile app! It has come in handy so often. The ability to assign tasks to different individuals works well for us so that we can see when that task is completed. The fact that it integrates with Office 365 allows us to sync reminders and documents and share them with other members of the team working on the same project.
The maintenance can be a pain, even though you are warned ahead of time. Still, we do a lot of our work on the weekends and have to schedule around the maintenance. It’s a little difficult because it can last several hours, but again, they let you know ahead of time. As another reviewer mentioned, an autosave option would be a helpful tool, especially with more than one person working on a project at the same time.

Simple project management that's cloud based and works on almost any device. There's a lot to like.
The fact it is cloud based and works well on mobile devices is a big plus. It offers a lot of functionality but is simple to use as is works a lot like spreadsheet software for the user. It also integrates with Office 365, to allow sharing of links and projects. There are alerts and conditional rules to help you manage your projects stages and progress.
The reporting is paid for only. Unfortunately it is also not worth the price. It lacks some of the capability of Excel and Project, but is not priced like those products. Customer service i good and there is clearly good development work going on, with new features coming out on a regular basis.

Smartsheet has been transformational for our business. As a small bespoke kitchen manufacturer (21 staff) we have some industry specific software for design and quoting, but most out of the box ERP software doesn't fit. We don't have an IT department so anything we use needs to be robust, and my background in programming has enabled us to implement some nifty systems using Smartsheet, but without the hassle of actually writing and then maintaining our own programs. Excel just doesn't compare, and is not cloud native so just doesn't work so well even in Office 365. We genuinely cannot live without it.
Cloud based - available everywhere to everyone Flexibility - it's not only a project management tool, it can do most things that Excel can do, but often better. Specifically column formulae are a fantastic recent addition that enables sheets to become almost unbreakable
Nothing major. There are some minor gripes: - Slack integration doesn't allow tagging of individuals, and cannot allow a variable to determine which channel to send the message to - Cannot yet control heirarchy with formulae, I hope this function will come eventually

I'm a convert. At first I saw minimal benefit over that of Google Sheets or Excel 365, but the line level document sharing and conversation feature are game changers. Instead of having one big general conversation in the workbook about any number of possible rows or cells, we can restrict documents and conversations to the items they actually to pertain to. The project tracking feature has also been invaluable. We can provide a quick summary to peers and supervisors without an email or chat as well as help us focus our efforts where they are most needed.
We are able to manage information sharing with various internal and external partners. For example, we use this with our external auditors and we have conversations about specific workbook submissions and can easily make them aware of updates and needed adjustments. We also use this internally to communicate across teams and departments. Finance shares selected information with users who generally would not be able to pull that information without them needing to ask for it or be pointed to it.
It is not always easy to find out how to do something or learn how to use formulas. It shares some similarities with Excel and Google Sheets in that regard, but differs enough to where instructions are sometimes needed. I also wish that tabs were an option in the workbooks. I know we can use filters instead, but sometimes a separate tab is the better option.

It does help us track projects and the alerts we've set up help keep users aware of deadlines. So for that, Smartsheet works well. We've found a workaround for the one area we've paid extra for--the reporting--that is deficient. The biggest selling point is its approachability: anyone that is familiar with a spreadsheet application should be able to intuitively understand how SmartSheet basically works. That at least removes the biggest obstacle for a project management solution being ignored: the difficulty of use.
SmartSheet allows individuals and teams to work projects together, plotting milestones and critical paths, tracking tasks, creating alerts, and using gantt charts to quickly view how various team members are allocated and intersect. It does a good job of integrating with Office 365, allowing you to share links to files in OneDrive and to Skype within SmartSheet. The revamped interface makes it closer...
The reporting functionality we paid extra for is a joke. Instead, we've resorted to pulling data into Microsoft's Power BI to create reports and visualize data. And like many other Cloud-based services, there's a core product and then tiers of functionality that cost significantly more. Smartsheet is a capable product, but I'm frankly unsure it's cost is justified by its maturity. I've had the feeling I've been paying for what's coming, not for what's already there. But since we've invested in it, I guess we'll stay the course.

Project management is a very important part of any Business operation and as such, its important to explore options. Smartsheet appeals to us because we have a strong background with Microsoft Excel and adopting it has been easy. Our goal is finding a project management solution that works for our teams and ensuring that they actually use it. While everyone has their personal preference, SmartSheet was a better fit as a lot of our teams already use Excel extensively.
SmartSheet is a good project management tool that has an interface similar to Excel. Pros: 1. Multiple Project Views - Project managers will appreciate the multiple viewing options such as Gannt and Kanban, standard spreadsheet and even a calendar view. Many options for different managers. 2. If Spreadsheets are your thing, SmartSheet is worth a try - If you and your team use spreadsheets a lot,...
There is not a lot to gripe about SmartSheets other than on occasion, the app can lag or suffer an error and finding what error it is and how to fix it can be a little frustrating. There is a limitation with exporting reports. If you want to display data in a visual way, you may need to manually extract the data and then add it into another application. If the reports feature could be improved and maybe export in a usable format it would be a solid winner.
