Instead, the learning curve and time spent hunting for basic functions offset any promised benefits.

Tekmetric wants you to click (everything is 3 or more clicks) edit a few times, change color, then go in and change tech, and it STILL would not reassign the tech on the job.

Multiple screens running was not actually useful because if you look up parts in one tab and switch to another, the parts tab crashes.

I also love how easy it is to look up vehicle history, to input a new customer or search for an existing customer as well as tracking inventory and inspections and I really love the ability to take photos during inspections because it's proof you can show to the customer building report with them and earning their trust.

STOP UPDATING SOFTWARE IN THE MIDDLE OR ON SUNDAYS, DO YOUR UPDATES ON FRIDAY NIGHTS, let the Saturday shops be the genie pigs, having the software crash Monday morning or during the week is not fun.

As mentioned earlier my only complaint is that the labor guide is less robust than Mitchell.

Ease of searching cars, customers, numbers, plates, etc. That I can hop on from my phone from anywhere and build estimates.

Also if using it on say a windows style tablet you cant directly take a photo of something when hitting the photo button.  

Our customers love being able to receive a detailed report with pictures of every issue we find on the vehicle.  

Being at multiple dealerships using different softwares, I really like Tekmetric for ease of use and being able to build great invoices for the customer.  

The bar on the side that has the fluids, filters, specs and other various bits of information.

However I was surprised it did not have a mobile app to scan VIN on vehicles sitting out in the parking lot.

Building and sharing ROs is fast and efficient.  

My overall experience with Tekmetric is that I would love to have the program operating in my shop but I found it too hard to implement under current circumstances with the current work force.

When you click on a job from the job board, the RO opens on the Summary Tab.   

Flow of work is faster, acknowledgement from customers for approved repairs is critical, notification of vehicle status is time saving via text/email after work is completed, etc.

You would need to take a photo with the device camera then save it then load it.

My favorite part of AllData was the diagnostic software. If there is anyway I lack in working on vehicles, diagnostics is it.

Sometimes it takes too many clicks to find a specific part location, and the subscription cost is quite high for smaller shops.

Its a quick trouble shooting guide for intermittent issues whereas the technians that are paid flat rate do not get paid to diagnose warranty issues so they dont want to have to spend alot of time trying to verify an intermittent issue.

What I liked the most about ALLDATA was no matter what vehicle I need information on , ALLDATA had so much helpful resources for any repair situation that came up.

The search interface can feel a bit old and clunky.

I thought is was desent until I started trying other software system, ARI and tekmetric, shop monkey,they were all a fraction of the price , way more features included .

Nope, I signed up in Jan 2025 and ended being really slow and talked to my account manager about having to hold off until Spring or Summer when business would pick back up.

They have gotten better but certain makes it hard to follow them as the oem diagrams are the same way.

These people make you sign up and try their product by saying check it for 3 months if you do not like you cancel it.    Once you call back they do not return calls.   When you ask for cancelation they tell you they have contract with you.
