Wordfence overview

What is Wordfence?

Wordfence is a web application firewall that identifies and blocks malicious traffic on WordPress websites. With an integrated security scanner, Wordfence can analyze WordPress files, themes, and plugins for malware, SEO spam, bad URLs, malicious redirects, and code injections. Wordfence is focused on complete WordPress security, providing a Threat Defense Feed that includes the up-to-date firewall rules, malicious IP addresses, and malware signatures.

With Wordfence, users can manage multiple WordPress sites and view real-time activity across all sites in one place. Whenever malicious activity is detected, Workfence can quickly isolate security threats by blocking malicious networks and any other activity that indicates suspicious intentions. Files that have been overwritten can easily be reverted back to the original version by validating the integrity of files with the WordPress.org repository.

Wordfence also provides two-factor authentication, password protection, IP blacklisting, and country-level blocking.

“It gives you peace of mind that your website is protected from external attacks and the alerts will always notify you if something unusual is taking place. If you need to interrogate traffic further it is simple to do so and it is possible to add rules to create an extra security level which has helped us prevent bot attacks through our donation/payment system.”

Integrations rated by users

We looked at 28 user reviews to identify which products are mentioned as Wordfence integrations and how users feel about them.

Integration rating: 5.0 (4)

Integration with WordPress is not very important on its own because WordPress is mainly used for content, not payments. PayPal usually works through plugins, so the direct integration is less important. It is useful, but not essential for most users.
