Affinity Photo - 2025 Pricing, Features, Reviews & Alternatives

What is Affinity Photo?

Affinity Photo is a graphic design software that provides photographers and creative professionals with tools to edit images on a centralized platform. Supervisors can merge high dynamic range (HDR) images, overlap and stitch panoramic shots, and combine multiple pictures using the focus stacking functionality.

Affinity Photo allows designers to perform real-time image rendering, edit photoshop document (PSD) files, and utilize studio presets for UI layouts. Artists can correct color casts and remove blemishes or unwanted objects with magical inpainting brushes or patch removal tools. It also lets users apply filters across single layers or multiple stacks, add live liquify layers, and view the preview of edited images in full resolution.

Affinity Photo enables creative professionals to adjust exposure or white balance, edit metadata, and mask or erase specific sections of images. The software also helps users view histograms, add copyright information in batches, and perform lens corrections in photos.

User opinions about Affinity Photo price and value

Value for money rating:

Of 54 reviews that provide robust commentary on Affinity Photo's price and value, 91% mention it in a positive light.

Most reviewers indicate that Affinity Photo offers excellent value for money, primarily due to its one-time purchase model, which eliminates the need for ongoing subscription fees. They appreciate that the software provides a comprehensive set of photo editing tools comparable to Adobe Photoshop but at a fraction of the cost. Users find the pricing particularly beneficial for small business owners, freelancers, and casual users who want professional-grade tools without the financial burden of monthly payments. They also value the free updates that come with the one-time purchase, ensuring the software remains up-to-date without additional costs. Some users report that Affinity Photo's affordability and feature set make it a viable alternative to more expensive subscription-based software. However, a few reviewers note that updates can be less frequent, and the cost of switching from an established Adobe setup might not be justifiable for some businesses.

Affinity Photo offers a complete and professional toolset on photo editing and has competitive pricing that makes it the best choice when it comes to benefit-cost analysis.
It offers nearly everything you'd expect from Photoshop but with a much more affordable one-time purchase, which is ideal for small business owners like myself who want professional tools without monthly fees.
First of all it has a super affordable price: I hate this trend of subscriptions everywhere, for literally anything, it's expensive - especcialy if you dont' know exactly what you'll do with a software.

Integration rating: 5.0 (16)

The designer and Photo integration is perfect, I have never encountered any problems at this level. When I need to carry out more advanced processing offered by Affinity designer's Persona mode, I can easily make the transition to Affinity Photo and vice versa.

Both apps do many of the same things, but Designer excels at vector art while Photo excels at raster images. Sometimes I need one over the other, but I can import the results of one into the other. Just depends on the need.

It's so nice that the files work nicely together and transfer easily so I don't have to worry about not being able to work in something in photo and not open it in designer.

I highly recommend buying Affinity Designer with Affinity Photo if you are a digital artist who does digital drawing, painting, or animation.

when you have the 2 combined you can switch from a vector layer to a pixel layer with all the tools of one program into the other

In workflow, it is hard to separate image from vector illustration, today you need both in same project - same file.

seamless integration through their studiolink technology so you can easily switch modes within the same app

It's an easy transition to add text or vector linework to your art with Designer.

Because the entire Affinity suite of apps work together, it's inevitable that Publisher and Photo will overlap eventually. In fact, the designers of Publisher anticipated this integration, so they added a feature called "Studio Link" to ensure its ease of use. I just don't use Publisher as much as Photo, so I don't integrate them that much, either. But I have, and I will again. Soon.

At the end you need product, online publication or press material. You need DTP suite to merge all your graphics content and text in one great product...

Publisher makes the trifecta, with Photo to enhance photos and designer to add graphics. Publisher puts it all together into a book format.

Designer is the desktop publishing system and good for putting final product together - use Photo to manipulate the images

seamless integration through their studiolink technology so you can easily switch modes within the same app

When you use publisher combined with photo, you can draw directly on the pages with the quality you want.

I manage the editing of my bitmap designs in Affinity photo and then pass them on to Publisher.

Pros
It has a comparable level of features to Photoshop, which are just as powerful, and in some cases are even better. The interface is very intuitive and it is a pleasure to use.
A great software for photo edition, once you get a hold of it you can actually do really amazing photo edition. You can easily play with the layers and the tools to create a great work.
I am very happy and satisfied with Affinity Photo. I will recommend it to everyone I know who needs and uses photo editing software.
Cons
I bought this because I was working on a project that needed CMYK and it was taking a few months. The monthly cost of Adobe was annoying.
No Batch RAW processing. No response to user's question.
There is no accompanying mobile app to facilitate editing on the go.
